ETQW phantomware?

(Mr Feelgood) #1

Ok, now honestly, does anyone (including dev’s) have any real concrete news to give us about this game? Maybe a real release date?? Something? Anything? Im sorry, but this is really becoming quite ridiculous. Especially if we now end up having to wait for the PC release because of the development of the console versions of this game.

Can we please get some real answers? Please???

How is the weather?

It’s nice in Florida right now

You signed up just to say that huh?

The release is when it’s done, as it’s always been.

The console versions are being ported by seperate companies so that isn’t going to cause the PC version to take longer than it normally would.

What kind of “real answers” are you looking for exactly?

They are working on the game. What else do you want them to say?

(criminal) #4

are you kidding me, you signed up just to complain about release dates…

Man it’s people like this that destroyed bf2 (though i blame EA as well)

To answer your question though take a look around at all the videos will it kill you to wait so that we have a better game released when it launches?

Live isn’t THAT short.

Press Release 28/02/2007

Activision in conjunction with id and SplashDamage software announce that the upcoming game Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has been cancelled, stating that the market is no longer correct for such an intense first person shooter game.

Owing to the success of similar ‘cutesy’ games such as viva pinata on the xbox 360 platform, SplashDamage studios are happy to announce their latest project Tapir World.

Featuring online play with team based objectives (such as repair the compound fence, capture the food sack) as well as the use of John Carmack’s revolutionary Megatexture software allowing players to see all the way to the end of the paddock.

Release date: TBA

It’s because of the good looking videos that people expect a release date. SD should include at least one obvious glitch each time, maybe even end the videos with a BSOD, to make ppl understand it’s not finished.

(malarky) #7

The console releases will have no affect on the release schedule of the PC version, since they are not being developed by us. We’re focused exclusively on getting the PC version done.

(cheesecake) #8

Lol that would be a cool game not as cool as ETQW but Tapir FTW

:stroggtapir:

I’m assuming your first name is actually Rick. Because YOU’re RICKdiculous.

You know that I posted something like this about this a month ago. Don’t be a Cartman and be impatient for the Nintendo Wii.

Use Search.
'nuff said.

Welcome, btw.

(thewonderfulcar) #11

Well, it did say “fall 2006” in the trailer…

(murka) #12

i hope the developers take long time to fix the bugs, ppl like these ruin the game, faster its done, the more bugs it has, tho patches can be made later

(SniperSteve) #13

There is a balance needed. The game should be released bug free, but it should not take too long (longer than 4-5 years) to complete. If it does take too long, the technology becomes old, and is very often quickly replaced with another game. (Unless the gameplay is incredibly good, in which case a reduced number of people leave after a similar gme comes out.)

In the case of ET:QW the release postpone is good. It also lets people get bored of the BF2 mod (BF2142) and thus will take allot of people away from that game with this later release of ET:QW. (And the technology used in ET:QW is so much greater than anything the EA & DICE guys will come up with.) Browses web and sees ad for BF2222 w/ 100% destructable terrain and objects

I just wish a mptest would be released soon.

Patches have two sides. On one hand, they fix bugs and improve gameplay, on the other hand you are splitting the community because the patches mostly introduce some aspects which are unwanted for some. (Mostly a rather small crowd, though.)
If those patches are mandatory, those people will start complaining and just leave the game for what it is.

So my point: the less needed patches, the better.
Stuff “missing” could be added by mods, and if there would be something like Chruker’s magnificent “Project Bugfix” for W:ET, SD could merge those fixes back into the game after they’ve been confirmed and tested.

(nUllSkillZ) #15

And BTW Activision is responsible for PR.
So you should ask them about news.

(amazinglarry) #16

You mean you guys aren’t playing ET:QW? Hmmm would explain why I’m always the only person on the server. :frowning:

Come in and play with me! :x

I agree that I want a bug-free release, but we’ve been in close to a total information blackout since the stage demo by the SD gang. We need something… anything. Nobody is going to crucify you boys for giving us a date and slipping. Just be honest. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Joe999) #18

i’m not so sure about that. i’ve read something about a golf club which is called “leak sealer”

(Ifurita) #19

Actually, people do get crucified for not making deadlines (depending on reason) since when release dates are publically announced, marketing campaigns are planned, retailers get ready, medic coverage is organized, etc. We do a lot of event planning here at work and when you miss dates, a ton of money and good will gets flushed.

(SCDS_reyalP) #20

If only that were true.
