Et: Xreal

(sondzhi) #61
But i thought the ET: Xreal project was only updating the renderer and bug fixes? so no artwork etc needed?

When I see a project with some really enthusiastic people then I might help out… Most projects I’ve watched so far just release a few progress shots every blue moon of stuff that could literally have been done in a matter of week(s)
Thats true about the goal to update the renderer. Though, to demonstrate you all the capabilities of the engine and not only showing you ingame screenshots of the current vanilla ET maps and assets with just bloom and HDR enabled, it’s necessary that ET-XreaL, rather the OpenTerritory project which will later features “the finest” of the ET-XreaL (renderer part) and ioquake3/iowolfet parts (bugfixes, general enhancements) can count on

mappers, artists, and modding enthusiasts
, like DerSaidin said and as more people gonna contribute to this project, as sooner you will find something play and hopefully satisfiable on your harddisk.

O lejga, sosed.

EDIT: Dragnadh, it means “Oh hi, neighbour”, sorry for offtopic and non-english, couldn’t resist. :o

(Dragnadh) #63

???

Bump btw

(aaa4) #64

sorry to make it seem troll again, but why would you bump a thread from a creator which has nothing to do at all with this project and whose only intentions by opening this thread was to gain some stats at his profile, where it shows that one of his threads has been read a thousand times ?

(ischbinz) #65

no more progress on their site :frowning:

p.s. axis revenge is dead too

Until further notice our game project status is set to cancelled. There is alot of content created, which might be of great use for similar projects based on the Xreal-ET (or any other) engine. If you are running such a serious project we would be glad to hear from you and contribute our work.
Some game code has been contributed to Xreal-ET and also Weaver. Any artist interested in a Xreal based game project shall take a close look on the last mentioned: Weaver Forum

Thank goes to everyone who supported us, worked with us or just wanted this project to be a success.

Would be interesting to know what actually happened after I left, but this wasn’t really unexpected imo

(reaply) #67

poor shame such assholes.

(IndyJones) #68

not surprised about axis revenge.

waiting for et-xreal. maybe something will be ready by the christmas time… ?

(.Chris.) #69

Attitudes like this will make sure we don’t restart the project, AR was unable to get people with key skills in order to make progress and as a result the project is on hold, if we happen to find such people in the coming weeks then things may change however I’m not holding my breath.

If you know any good animators then put them in touch with us

I suggest you to take a look at the GameArtist forum. They have a special section to find people who are willing to work unpaid for mods.

http://www.game-artist.net/forums/hiring-mods-volunteers/
You might want to make a new thread, to increase your odds of finding someone.

Good Luck.

once again, et-xreal is just the renderer part, just code and no assets (by this I mean new and overhauled maps, sounds, graphics etc) what you are looking for is OpenTerritory or Axis Revenge.

http://www.axisrevenge.com/

(ischbinz) #72

no i m looking for a ready engine where i can place some nice models and stuff inside -
and axis revenge is not ET

et is not only the engine - et is the gameplay the atmosphere and so on

what i want is et with a new engine - not more not less

(IndyJones) #73

just on a side note, how much would it cost finish the engine within few months?

(reaply) #74

When I said assholes I ment it as they took the hope away :frowning:

(sondzhi) #75

This is a question that just Tr3b himself can answer. Besides that, the current state of the engine is that the most important features are already working. The only things that need to be done are listed here http://redmine.xreal-project.net/projects/et-xreal/roadmap , among - hopefully planned - optimisations in the renderer code to get more fps out of it.

You can catch him at best on channel #xreal at irc.freenode.net
copie the ET-XreaL.exe and the rendererGL3.dll in the wolfenstein directory. then you must make a zip of cgame, game und ui dll and rename it to mp_bin.pk3.

copie that in the etmain directory.

then you must make a zip of gfx, gls, and ui, rename it to pak7.pk3

start the exe and enjoy the missing and wrong shaders xD

Here the files, you can try it, but with no garanty xD

can you reupload pls

(Paul) #78

When is it expected to be “released”? I would be happy to publicly announce it

(sondzhi) #79

at the moment it looks like there won’t be a community sucessor of W:ET.
I didn’t see any progress in the git repos of ET-XreaL and OpenTerritory @ sourceforge lately.

Code is afaik nearly done, the projects need mappers, gfx artists etc… to get at least a “show-case” map done, but things doesn’t look very promising :frowning:

(IndyJones) #80

sad, but true?
