I’d like to have a well-playable version of the game, and get tips on how to compile maps to get dynamic shadowing working :confused:

  1. Its playable using ET assets now.
  2. ETXmap.exe -game “et” … (like q3map2) … “pathtomap.map”
  3. cg_shadows 6

This will use the new renderer, but older tech in some areas. To use newer tech (but be incompatible with ET assets), compile maps with -game “xreal”, and recompile ETXreal without COMPAT_ET defined (see q_shared.h).

It’s playable yes,but there are some minor visual problems(well with my build, which is maybe old).
Some critical performance hits when there are particle,decals etc, multiple lights, and also I can’t get a good working sun, not explained in the shader manual of xReal,the xmap_sun…

You need to recompile the maps to get the impression of new effects, but I can’t import ET maps, it fails… :confused:
I’ve been in xReal irc and everyone can talk about his own mod, but it’s all on q3’s xreal, you can’t ask questions about ET-xReal, no ones knows anything about it…:rolleyes:
Don’t wait for a beta now,it’s quite a lot “paused” haha

Great! Although the great wasnt meant that you couldnt get et-xreal to work.
So you are currently working on a et-map or is it a conversion of a et map? maybe you wanna share the current status and specifically at which point you are stuck.

It’s true that most people hanging around in #xreal are working with the quake3 based xreal version, but there is also someone from the ETF (Enemy Territory Fortress) project who is fiddling around with the ET-XreaL code base and hopefully some more.

The ET-XreaL coders needs feedback and bug reports, without it will remain as it is: unused/dead!

Can you tell me this guy’s name,maybe he can help me,because I’m seriously looking for ET-Xreal coders.
Well I’d like to make just a sample map of what can be possible with the engine,but I get fails all the time.I can’t get a sun shader to make a sun appear in the sky and lighten in real-time the world,only lightmapped.
So I use a real-time pointlight, but the definition is not really good:

There is no problem with import existing ET maps into xrealradiant ( ET-Xreal ) just check my topic dated 2010-02:

The problem was license , before official W:ET became GPL. Few months later some project reached porting goal and W:ET had to be announced as open source.
