ET Vidz

(Joe999) #1

after all this QW discussion and Errol’s post i thought i’d make an ET topic because it’s still the only game out there that gives me real fun :drink:

this one shows how one brave axis soldier can stop the evil allies from doing the fuel dump trick with the CO by simply putting a foot into the door

found that out a few weeks ago after i dunno how many hours of gameplay :uhoh:

i hope you enjoy

if you got funny or l33t ET vidz how about sharing them? would be great

(crumblycake) #2

HAHAHAH! I love after you were killed…“Excellent! Sehr Gut!” I hope QW has some of those W:ET splatter animations!

(Gringo) #3

Haha, classic film joe, brilliant!

(datoo) #4

That’s pretty awesome.

(Shanks) #5

Oh you’re lucky none of them can trickjump…or think?

(SniperSteve) #6

LOL  nice one…

(Rhoades) #7

“Excellent”

(Joe999) #8

thanks guys, i’m glad you enjoy

trickjumps are exploits and boring, none of the guys i’m playing with does them anymore to get to the objective. we’re playing for fun, so trickjumps are mostly to get behind the enemy’s lines and knife them when they don’t expect it n such

(ouroboro) #9

Oh dear…

I know Sirlin would have something stern to say about this. The Oasis walljump made me love the quake engine.

(kamikazee) #11

I think of it as an exploit which is not cheat at all times. (I think ‘glitch’ might be more usefull)

(Joe999) #12

oh please, don’t go that road down again, i already regret having written it. it is an exploit, because it wasn’t intended to solve the objective that way. whoever wishes to play with walljumps or whatever do what you like to do if it gives you fun. as i said: for me and my friends this isn’t fun, and fun is all that counts in the game. if i feel the urge to show skill, i’ll do it at work and not for a computer game

i somehow get the feeling that some people are just waiting on something they can bash on. i understand more and more what errol meant … :bored:

(Sauron|EFG) #13

You need to read the posts by Bongoboy and Wils in this thread.

(kamikazee) #14

With other words: bashing just happens once in a while and trickjumping is just for those who like the fun of it.

@Joe999: IIRC, Errol ‘left’ because he was sick of all those ET:QW posts with questions asked a hundred times before.

Would it not of been easier just t shoot them all in the head?

(Shanks) #16

But how would that be funny?

(ouroboro) #17

Anyone who calls trickjumping in ET an “exploit” is completely, utterly clueless. I mean no offense to anyone who feels that way (not even Joe999), but you clearly haven’t been around the Q3 engine very long. Trickjumping is a staple of gameplay. Noone who has been around the Q3 engine (or even the Q2 and Q1 engines) for a long time, and in particular no top players in any of the above games/engines, would share your opinion.

I hate to “jump in” like this because I know Joe999 will think I am personally attacking him (I’m not). But when I hear things that would make any sane person roll their eyes, I have to speak up. It may very well be that trickjumping is not your cup of tea, and perhaps you find it annoying and even intolerable. But that doesn’t mean trickjumping is unsuited to ET, it means you are unsuited to ET.

Also note that every time you jump down Goldrush hill, you are accellerating via the same phenomenon which allows for more elaborate trickjumps. In effect, and in fact, you are trickjumping. In competition, things like the Oasis walljump are quite rare, because it would only be possible against a completely incompetent team. And that’s the ultimate point here of course. If someone beats you via trickjumping it’s not because the game somehow failed by allowing an “exploit,” it’s because you failed by allowing a superior player/team to do it under your nose.

P.S. Anyone who says trickjumping is BS better not be capping their framerate to 43/76/125. You can’t pick and choose and say jumping up onto a crate is OK but jumping onto the Fueldump roof is not.

(datoo) #18

trickjumping is hard :frowning:

(Joe999) #19

see it whatever way you like. it takes the fun out of the game. it’s a means for one single person to solve the objective. ET is a teambased game. cite SD: “there is no I in team”.

as i said: play whatever way you like as long as it gives you fun, but imo don’t ruin the fun for the rest of the chaps you play with

and before we go further offtopic: how about if some of you “trickjumpers” post some vidz to stay on topic?

(Sauron|EFG) #20

I like trickjumping, but unfortunately I suck at it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Trickjumping in itself clearly isn’t an exploit, but certain trickjumps can be called map exploits if they go completely against the mappers wishes (i.e. they are not just unintentional, but the mapper considers it a bug). It’s possible that “the community” redifines it to be a “feature”, but then both sides are correct.
