Et_Tank beta3 released !3!3!3!

(chavo_one) #101

The issue among fellow mappers isn’t that you are using RtCW textures. Personally, I could care less. The issue here is that it messes up other mappers that think they are legitimate ET textures to use. No one can keep your map in their etmain directory because when using radiant it will appear that we can use those textures freely. If you want to use RtCW textures, at least copy them into your own directory. Read the link I refered you to. Gerbil goes into a better explanation of the situation.

ok. In final tank I’ll do it.

(Brewskie) #103

You can also get the map from the Tank site:

Kill? no… Jump. (In kommendantur)
You have lamps on the floor. Its easy to jump over them.

Ad 2. I know

And 3 - zbrush fight near the ladder in elevator whatever.

Thx.

(flashkillaman) #106

bit hard to get trough

(BadIdea) #107

True:)
This is a new part of map. May be bugged.

(Spark) #108

Ehm. About the map not ending after timelimit runs out, is it really meant to be like that? I mean, maybe it’s fun on publics but it would make this map impossible for match play.

(Brewskie) #109

It’s a dual pbjective map. One side or the other has to win.

For the Allies, they must blow the tank up.

For the Axis, They must steal the docs and make their way back to their bunker.

Till one of those two things happen…the game goes on…and on…and on…

Woot!

Brew

(Wraith2k3) #110

Yep, thats what makes tank so cool. If that means it’s not suitable for match play, so be it. Not every map has to be designed with match play in mind.

(G0-Gerbil) #111

And indeed given the few custom maps that ever make it into competitive play, I’d say it’s a rare mapper who can target that and make it stick.

For everyone else, just make a fun map

(BadIdea) #112

Heh. Of course I can remove allied Documents.
And make 1 side obj version. Simple script tweak.

(Brewskie) #113

To make any major change to Tank by making it single obj would completely destroy the map and what makes it the greatest map made for RTCW. And what could be the best map made for ET.

(The Spectre) #114

First I will mention Tank was one of the best maps made for RTCW in my opinion. I played it many hours on Happy Penguin #2, longest Battles I played on it were little over 4 hours. I looked over the ET version, one thing I would complain about is how dark some areas of the map are. The outdoor areas are well lighted but some tunnels and indoor areas are just too dark to see anything. You run into one wall, turn into another, and finally after bumping wall after wall you get out. This would not be as much a problem if played at night when its dark outside with only a little lighting by the computer, but if played during daylight with lots of sunlight outside it becomes nearly impossible to get through the dark areas.

Do you still have the RTCW map file? If so how about making a reversed map for RTCW. The exact same Tank map but with Axis/Allies spawns and objectives reversed. In this version Axis have to blow the Tank and Allies steal the docs. This removes any and all map biases favoring one team over the other. We play such maps in a rotation on the Battlefield Europe Tournament, =BE=. This tournament features 12 hour Battles played on several maps in rotation. It is a free tournament open to clanned and unclanned players. We have numerous European and North American players. With a map like Tank we would play one version first, then its reverse over and over during the 12 hour period. We prefer maps that have reversed versions for our tournament. In the tournament you play either on the Axis or Allies teams for the entire 6 weeks of the Campaign. We have had some mappers make reversed versions for us of various maps. Our tournament has had 4 Campaigns so far, it started February 2003. We depend on donations from our players to keep the tournament going. Players run the tournament.

Battlefield Europe Tournament

Yeah…

Got to play some of beta 3 today for a bit, Awesome. the changes to the water way area(ladder, the removal of the cops doors + switch’s) is great.

I did notice when swimming under the bridge that you ( I) would run into “invisible” obsticles in the water. kinda like a curb in the middle of the water. Maybe its supposed ta be that way and is Ice…?

Anyways cant wait to play it with 20-60 people.

hint hint shitkicker…

(BadIdea) #117

Hello.
I know invisible - strange player interaction with non axial terrain brushes under water. I think Clip is the cure:)

And about turnament. I’ll reconstruct old MPtank for you. I have a version - but I’am not sure that is the last version…

Thanx for good words!

(The Spectre) #118

Yes we are very excited about getting a reversed version of MP_Tank for RTCW to be played in the =BE= tournament.
I know its one of the all time favorites amongst many of our players…
We have played Tank numerous times but we play 12 on 12, so for Dual Objective maps we have defense and offense teams of around 6 players each. =BE= started as BFE in August 2002, BFE ended January 2003 and reorganized under the players who played in BFE to become =BE=. In February 2003 =BE= began as run by players for players tournament, operating 100% on donations, otherwise its a free tournament open to anyone in Europe or North America. In =BE= you join Axis or Allies and play on that team for the entire 6 week Campaign, then you may switch before next Campaign. We use Ventrilo for voice communication. Anyways I have played Tank back in BFE in our tournament and I find it far easier to blow the Tank than run the docs. I have played Allies for a number of Campaigns, then I played Axis for a number of Campaigns. As Axis you don’t really like playing Tank much - Allies almost always win, Allies love Tank - they win many more rounds and gain Campaign Points. If a reversed version were made, Spawn Points reversed and objectives reversed - this should eliminate the bias towards Allies. This way Allies will have to run the docs and Axis blow the Tank. In our tournament, we would play the original Tank and reversed Tank maps in rotation, you would always be Axis or Allies but you would have to complete the reverse of the objectives. By playing maps and their reverses we find we have the most fair matches towards either team - no biases. We have only a few true reversed maps so far, they are by far preferred in our Tournament. We play almost 100% custom maps in our tournament, one such reversed map we play is Mitchell Down, we have a reverse and the original in rotation.

Tank is one of my all time favorites and since it appears often in our tournament, it is a favorite amongst many of our players. A reversed version would see it played more and in future Campaigns. BTW there is also an ET version of the =BE= RTCW tournament starting soon. They have several servers, one in NA, one in Euro. They have already run Beta Battles to get ready for the real thing. So when you get a Final Tank for ET a reversed version would make it popular in this ET tournament as well.

(The Spectre) #119

RTCW Game ET Tournament

This is based on the =Battlefield Europe= Tournament but is for ET.
It is just getting started. We had Alpha and Beta test Battles. Now we have two servers, one in Europe, one in North Amercia. I hope the Campaign can get started soon. Over 400 people are signed up, but we have around 50 people officially signed up for either team so far.

ArnoWar is running the tournament based on the =BE= idea of being a free, open to everyone tournament, supported by donations - to pay for servers and website/forums.

I caught shitkicker last night and let him know that he could get it here. anyways Its up and runnin at Happy_Penguin|54ms|216.234.192.28:27961
