ET: something needs to be done about complaint kicks

(bogs) #21

Ehh would you like a lemon or lime with that piece of advice misssta?

if you can’t play in team, Each time you file a complaint you hurt the team.

Please tell me how it hurts and I will stop. You know what hurts more than a piece of text popping up on your screen informing you someone hit their F1 key? Getting shot in the back which happens WAAAAY more now than before when you freaks would just get kicked and go find another server.

At the end of each round, if I have over 50 TD I feel guilty and it rarely happens that I get that much TD. Check your stats at the end and see what you have.

(bogs) #22

You sure? 'cause the warning saying that I will be kicked after N complains is gone. I went and checked when I noticed that I was getting TK’ed about 15-20 times a round and was surprised to see the kick warning counter was gone.

This is a pretty stupid thing to do if you actually want to win.

I don’t get how pressing F1 helps the other team win. In FACT, people might CALM down and quit killing their team-mates with more complaints. (Or they’ll get pissed at me and leave). So if anything, I’m helping us win since we die less.

Sometimes… Sometimes… Sometimes… sometimes… Sometimes… Sometimes you just plain screw up.

All valid reasons for me to file since I am the only one being asked the question when the incident occurs. I mean, you might have reasons not to file - but I do. I do it 'cause a) your reaction is funny over something so meaningless b) stop fricking shooting me. Use your map, don’t FREAK out and use spray and pray when I’m around or I’ll hit F1. Nya nya nya nya.

If you are complaining against people who are not intentional tkers, you are either an asshole, an idiot or both.

That’s why it’s so funny to complain. 'cause of people like you. Please - never change.

Hey Bogs I’d find it amusing to come and hack your arms off with a machette. Just because I find it amusing though doesn’t mean it’s right. Now the reason I don’t do this is beacuse I respect other people. There is no difference between this and what you are doing.

You are severely in the wrong here, bogs. Indiscriminately filing complaints every time is unjustified and regardless for your reason (or lack there of a logical reason), it’s not right. You are in fact hurting your team–possibly moreso than a TK. Most good servers have good medics around to clean up the mess. All you’re doing is causing someone to lose XP and not get to that next level sooner to help the team, or maybe get a person kicked thus bringing in a new person who probably won’t have remotely as much xp–depending on what stage in the campaign it is.

Try reconsidering your actions. You might think what you’re doing is for the better of the team (but I honestly don’t think you think this), but it’s not. Complaints should be reserved for blatant intentional TKs–nothing more.

(DasMonkey) #26

as someone already said… yes you do get kicked for complaints… the message is gone but there’s still complaint limits. I can read where you’re coming from but you clearly don’t understand that complaints still lead to kicks…
If it was ONLY xp, and people would get PO’d over it… then thats hilarious.
But the case is complaints get people kicked and… with me atleast… Your tool arse runs into my stream of fire (i don’t fire at the backs of allies), or decided that the smoke from my strike was soooo pretty that you needed a closer look… or the flag clearly planted on the ground instantly turned your thoughts to rage and you felt the need to stomp all over it… things like that… where it’d be your mistake, not mine… Complaining that bs is just inane.

(amazinglarry) #27

bogs… You think when you constantly file complaints it’ll make your teammates CALM down? :eek2: Are you insane?

I’m a medic most of the time, and a damn good medic at that. 90% of the games I play I have 100% syringe accuracy, and that’s pretty good, especially on fuel dump when I’m sliding across ice.

But when you have like under 30 health left, I’m going to help you out by killing you and immediately raising you (giving you full health, because generally I have adrenaline shots) and you’re back in action, full health, and it doesn’t count as a death for you. Thus even helping out your KtD… now… when you file a complaint AFTER the fact, that’s just asking for trouble. I will A) Immediately kill you and gib you afterward. B) Anytime I see you the rest of the campaign and beyond I will shoot you to minimal health and leave you to die. :drink:

You think it’s hilarious when you file a complaint no matter the circumstance… I think it’s hilarious when I make your time on the server the least enjoyable as possible. So it seems our advice to you is to take it easy with the complaints, and reserve them for the blatant TK’s, or in the very least, to those who don’t say sorry after accidentally killing you with a weapon. Any Airstrike that hits you is your OWN damn fault.

And to clear it up even more… Yes, you do get kicked for too many complaints. I’ve seen it first hand several times.

Yes, I am sure. It is a server setting. The default is 4 complaints from unique people, or 6 from the same person, if I remeber right. I’ve seen lots of people kicked for too many complaints. It may be that you played on a server with a very high complaint limit.

(bogs) #29

Well I am thankfull you know the diff between right and wrong. Are you sure the reason you, and the others who would do the same to me, don’t do it is because I would file a complaint? ie - the law? See… my system works.

everyone else…

Now that I know people can get kicked, I’ll make sure I don’t file when it’s my fault. But all the other times, especially accidents, F1 baby. check your fire soldier! (ie stop freaking out and lift your index finger off your mouse button)

Sorry but TK’s have gone waaay up compared to the test and RTCW and it way less fun to be TK’ed than it is to be filed against so what makes filing so damn wrong? It’s helping you become a better player which will make the game fun for both of us.

(Swad) #30

It’s helping you become a better player which will make the game fun for both of us.

Your logic is still flawed. Apparently you still don’t understand what an accident is. I’m quite often a top player / the top player on a server, and I have an accidental TK occasionally. I see it with other top players, too. You somehow believe your complaint will ‘teach me’? Teach me to realize you’re a bit immature? Yes indeed. You’re searching for an excuse and falling short sorry to say. You fall in the ranks of the intentional TKs and those who actively seek to impede on others’ fun (but I think you pretty much stated that when you said how amusing it was).

If you truly must file a complain each time, then you must be on the most God aweful servers on the net with people shooting everything that moves ala deathmatch style. Find some good servers and lighten up.

So lemme guess, you NEVER accidently TK anyone ? I’ve seen people who were arguably the best players in the RTCW (CAL main champs) get kicked for low negative score (-14 ?), and yet they but they were still helping their team more than they were hurting it. Yeah, the map was castle :/, but the point is, that unless the TKer is doing more harm than good to your team, YOU DON’T WANT TO HAVE THEM KICKED.

If you don’t want them kicked, DON’T FILE.

Just the other day, I was playing ET and the best eng on our team got kicked (mostly because of idiots complaining after stepping on mines, but the one that pushed him over the edge could have been you filing about some stupid accident) Of course, we lost right after that, because there was no one planting mines.

Of course there are lots of TKs in ET right now, there are lots of noobs. Unless it is limited life, getting TKed isn’t a big deal. Respawn and go back to fighting. You don’t want to teach all the noobs that they should file on every accidental tk, or you will find they file on you when you jump in their line of fire, or stand on your death grenade.

Getting filed on doesn’t make people better players. It just makes them think, “wow there’s that jackass who hasn’t figured out that shit happens and always files”

(bogs) #32

Ya I do and I could care less about the points I loose - i don’t even watch to see if I get a complaint or not. I actually feel bad and try not to watch my fire a little better. Try it. Makes the game more fun when your not constantly getting pissed at your team.

I still haven’t seen anyone kicked in the ET. But if they have a -14 'cause they keep TK’ing, I do want them kicked. If we’re playing on the same server you push F2 and well wait for democracy to sort things out.

If you don’t want them kicked, DON’T FILE.

If you don’t want a complaint, don’t shoot. Or play with FF off.

Really, just the other day I was playing and we would have one but I was TK’ed so I hit F1.

No no no. YOU don’t want me to teach the noobs. But I will, I am, and I have. I’m building an army of people who press F1 and we will not be stopped.

It’s up to you to make the most of the experience. If you choose to get pissed off and call me names instead of just getting on with the game and trying harder not to kill your team-mates, well, nya nya nya nya :stuck_out_tongue:

(Swad) #33

Best we move on from this discussion methinks. It’s fruitless to throw rationale up against flawed rationale (or in this case, a creative attempt to justify being a menace). This discussion will not accmplish any good at this point.

(bogs) #34

it will help me recruit people for my F1 army…

Dont Feed The Troll !

(Draskuul) #36

Here’s a (somewhat) simple solution.

A) Rename the cvars/etc for the current complaint pop option.
B) Default the new cvar so that complaint popups are OFF by default.
C) Don’t show the complaint popup option on the option screens unless it has been manually set to begin with.
D) Document this new cvar in the DOCUMENTATION. Clearly, but not on “Page 1”

The basis of this is simple: The majority of complaints filed are by newbies. These are the same newbies who most likely don’t read the documentation, nor any forums that would give them information on how to enable this.

For those of us who actually care, I think most would keep it off, or add a toggle function to enable/disable them when needed.

This would completely eliminate newbie complaints.

The only remaining threat are the ‘dedicated’ type of trolls who intentionally step on landmines in order to file, and the like. Many of these will likely find out how to enable this, as this is how they get their fix. I don’t consider this much of a threat as people who do this are (usually) vote kicked fairly easily.

(bogs) #37

AND it would only feed my army’s rage  I like the idea!

So you kick people who don’t like to get TK’ed? my army will destroy you.

(Swad) #38

I can’t help but believe that for some, hitting ‘yes’ to ‘file a complaint’ is similar in nature to those lab mice tests. I’m talking about the tests where the lab technician has electrodes wired into some part of the mouse’s brain that when he does a certain thing it sends a charge to a part of his brain that is related to sexual hormones and it gets him aroused.

  • hit F1 – go clean shorts – repeat

(bogs) #39

dude, if you piss your pants when people file against you, i’ll try not to do it if I see your name. man that must really suck. I mean, I know people get mad but to have to clean your shorts… poor guy.
