maybe have a radius round your player (pretty big one) and only ppl in that radius u can talk to and vice versa.

(DarkangelUK) #102

You mean like the proximity voice used in Halo 2. You can hear all your team mates, but you can only hear enemies close by that are speaking… which i think is cool. Say you’re waiting round a corner, and you start to hear the enemy speak as they get closer, then BAM ambush!

(FootSoulJah) #103

I meant u can only hear and speak to team mates in that radius? just a thought, or you could do the squad voip like in bf2

(Patt0n) #104

A radius for speaking/listening to team mates isnt always a good idea, if u needed to talk to someone who was further away, maybe a specific class (or if you wander off on your own) and the nearest person is outside that radius, you would have problems talking to them. The squad voip in bf2 is a fairly good idea, but not commonly used and limited to the members of your sqaud. Maybe an option to choose who you talk to, a specific person, class, squad or the whole team. The proximity voice used in Halo 2 would be nice, makes the game more realistic.

(Dazzamac) #105

Any game That I played that used VOIP, everyon muted everyone and used TS or Vent. VOIP in my experience screws the game up a bit and I can’t see anyone in thier right mind usin it.

(FootSoulJah) #106

I reckon the squads is the best way to reduce spam.

(KAGE) #107

I WANT THE FLYING VEHICALS TO BE USEABLE WITH JOY STICKS!! LIKE IN BF2…
i just wanted to put that in so it won’t be an under-sight

BTW VOIP is great…

I also want a release date/news etc…
i am literaly buying a top end video card just for this game…

i don’t like you

(ayatollah) #108

VOIP is awful…too many times on Halo or any other Xbox Live games the experience is ruined by pesky kids spamming the airwaves (usually from a certain country). You want to talk to friends, rent a Ventrilo channel.

(Dazzamac) #109

I would’ve taken you seriously… but then you said that. BF2 is the biggest pile of guano to ever hit the FPS scene. Seriously what reaaaally want, is a guaruntee that QW will prevent asshats from hogging the machinery and tk’ing to ensure that they are the only ones in the tank/plane/other vehicular device. I stopped playing vietnam after the millionth time gettin shot by my teammates in a mad rush for the planes and tanks.

(kamikazee) #110

/vote mute <kiddie>?

(FootSoulJah) #111

If there is mute, voip ftw

(kamikazee) #112

Then we must hope they actually added it…

(Dazzamac) #113

They’ll add it, anyone who’s ever experienced VOIP will know why its whould either be mutable or ban children from using it.
This is a conversation I had in the early days of VOIP
Teeanage American Punk “Hey can You here me?”
me “yes”
TAP “this is so cool”
TAP"seriously can you hear me?"
me “the fact that I answered should make it obvious”
TAP “awe cool”
me “delightful now stfu” (didn’t abbreviate it at the time)
TAP “This is great, seriously”
me (muted)

Now this poor fellow was so overawed at the fact he was talking to an irish person ina game that he forgot he was in a game and hence got PWNED. Adding VOIP will make anyone who is not used with it, talk random shite and forget they’re supposed to be killing things. Children are most prone to this as they have not yet gained enough experience with it and the ‘brats should be seen but not heard’ rule isn’t enforced as much since 1950

(Donald) #114

Why not have VOIP talk simulate real speech in the game rather then radio - make it so that it comes from the actual player model and can only be heard a short distance. This would stop spamming and be much more fun. Most voice chatter in games is stuff like OMG!, wow! HAHA! and doesnt make any sense over radio when its out of context. If it was only local then you would be in the context and it would add flavour to the situation.

(kamikazee) #115

Local voice chat is a real pain to implement whilst the idea is great.
Since how do you know how far your voice takes?

Plus, if you’re still trying, the players between you and the player you want to contact actually hear you both, whilst you don’t hear each other… Have some thought about it and you’ll notice it isn’t as easy as it sounds… :frowning:

(Ragnar_40k) #116

Afaik Creative is working on something like this (with hardware support). But this would only work when all players have Creative soundcards (unless Creative supplies some generic software driver for other sound cards).

(Dazzamac) #117

You’d still need radio, though. How would you communicate orders to a scattered squad? shout louder? The local thing isn’t a bad idea, then you can tell strogg what you really think of him before you kill him.

(carnage) #118

perhaps raidio for teamates but u can hear enemy when you are near them to help the sneeky and stealthy types… and also to shout abuse

(Iyanden) #119

How about a small urban map, that has no vechicules, and can be either 6v6 or 20 vs 20? I mean, I love Urban battles. THe whole “strategic” vibe.
Oh…and be able to personalize your characters. This could easily become a small-scale MMOFPS if the devs pull it off right.

(B0rsuk) #120

I’d love an ability to personalize characters, for example a small logo somewhere on the back. And yes, it would be a badger’s face.
I know, I know, not gonna happen.
