ET:QW Wishlist

The maps should not be BF2 big, but the ET size. And make som smaller ones to, that would be good for competetive play.

(zeN) #382

ahh bf2

(BrokenHeart) #383

I didn’t read all of this thread, so forgive me if some points were already named.

  • restriction of airstrikes / artillery

  • heavy weapon restriction

  • more fluent weapon changing (ever played Call of Duty? It’s nice to break the reload to
change to another weapon when things get hot )

  • for the love of god, keep it easy with those vehicles. I already have a bad feeling about this, however I put good faith into SD for doing things right

  • new complain system. you can only complain if your directly shot. no more mines/arty/airstrike complaints. (If I think about it, no complains at all, kickvote just works fine)

  • better hitboxes

  • every class should be able to spot mines (hence every class gets binocs right away)

  • no more “stupid” bonuses (“medic ammo” and “improved use of light ammunition” rings a bell?)

  • headshots are headshots are instant kills (better hitboxes!)

  • headshots are headshots are instant kills (better hitboxes!)

stupidest idea I ever heard

(ouroboro) #385

A) The ETPro hitboxes, when combined with b_realhead, b_antilag and b_antiwarp, are among the finest in all of gaming. Go play almost any other game after becoming accustomed to them and you will come running back to the loving arms of ET.

B) One-shot kills = slow campy gameplay. Slow and campy is the antithesis (that seems to be my favorite word this week) of the fast and furious ET gameplay formula. Slow and campy can be fun, but it’s not ET. This is ET we’re talking about here.

(Nail) #386

thank you, expressed much more clearly, I’m glad we agree on something

(jah) #387

i have to disagree. one of the things that i dislike in ET is the sniper. they feel like waterguns instead of sniper rifles. rtcw had a really good and balanced sniper rifle (zie mauser \o/), and it rocked. and if you think about it, rtcw has an even faster gameplay than ET. i really miss that in ET. :frowning:

(MuffinMan) #388

I think it will get even slower in qw, I just hope it won’t slow down to a counter strike - like “who camps the better spot and can wait longer”- duelling, anyway it’s a bit late for a wishlist, otherwise I would ask for xp system removal and to keep strafing as we were used to

(Zyklon) #389

I like most of those ideas, though some are rather badly thought.

No. This would reduce teamplay as the covops would be even more obsolete than it already is. The binocs are rather there to spot enemies than spotting landmines.

Instant kill headshots make a game slower, more campy and more luck-based, which is bad.

I agree with that. That’s one of the things I like most about ET: Players who are ‘waiting tactically’ and snipers have less chances to be successful than in Dod/CS and stuff.

If they changed that in Quake Wars it’d really be a bummer… :bored:

(madness) #391

dear god, let’s hope not :eek2:

(Nishua) #392

Forced first person in vehicles please.

Then you would be wrong.

(kamikazee) #394

When I started playing RtCW MP demo 1, all I mostly did was playing sniper. It was quite fun to hit people with 1 headshot and I was fairly good back then. The only problem was that people wouldn’t come out any longer once they knew I was waiting for their head to pop up.
So when a game uses 1 shot-kills, it’s fun to play as a sniper but not as a bullseye.

The way W:ET does it is quite good then.
The only sad thing about it is that it seems like it was more co-incidence then a feature. Snipers can actually give 100 HP damage, but you can survive it when you get the medic HP bonus.

(Schizma) #395

I know I’m going to get flamed for this but, I want it so I can move while scoped in with a sniper rifle and it stays in the scoped view.

(kamikazee) #396

Crouch + strafe, anyone?

(BrokenHeart) #397

Woah, easy there. Ok, it was late in the morning (hehe, no really!) and… ok, I should’ve cleared things out.

I really like the aiming and accuracy of the weapons in ET. Thats the main reason I’m still playing it. However…

On some days I frag everything that moves. Headshots all over the place, “Cheater!” cries and so on, you get the idea. Call it luck (for sure!), call it skill (well…) call it whatever you want. I never was a good aimer (is this even a word?). However, in ET I get way too much headshots. And I don’t aim that well. If I aim way off the head, the helmet plopps off. Bullet spread? Maybe.

I do NOT want weapons like CS (very very ugly) or DoD (better but still way too inaccurate). Just a bit tweaked.

And I agree with jah. Sniper Rifles ARE waterguns. And no, I CAN handle them.

(stagfish) #398

It would be useful if the xp-shuffle was based on the xp that players gained in a certain amount of time,
the way it is in ET you cant tell good from bad players and with bad luck teams end up even worse.
Maybe a 2cnd shuffle option that takes the kills/deaths relation in account would be useful too.

(nUllSkillZ) #399

Nor sure if it has been mentioned.
Two features that would be very helpful:

  • a mapscript feature like ET-Pro’s to add / remove / change entities
  • the remapshader action (or something similar)

(Joe999) #400

a one-click solution to adapt to all settings requirements of a server. best would be if these forced config changes could be saved server-specific.
