ET:QW still active?

(Wepohn) #1

Hi, I’m interested in buying this game after watching some videos on youtube. I’m not a huge fan of Quake but I’m a big fan of RTCW and Wolfenstein ET.

I was jus’ wondering how active the PC version of this game is at the moment.

Thanks.

You are 3 years too late. Nice timing!

(Wepohn) #3

I take it that means it’s not so active then, I don’t know why I’ve waited so long. Before I even watched any videos or read anything about the game I had assumed that it wasn’t very good.

Was hoping this would keep me busy until Brink releases.

While not perfect, it`s certainly better than xpsave infested W:ET.
And you can still play it, there is a bunch of servers that are always populated, like OMS.

(.Chris.) #5

Public servers are still fairly active, don’t mind Rex he just mad no one will play matches against him.

(Rex) #6

Yeah, Chris is right :frowning:
Anyway it will fill your time until Brink is released.
There are so many things to discover, so it should be long-time entertaining. But you won’t find them all in this short time span.

So you just hear a game titel and think it “sucks”, without any further proves or reasons?
To put it charitably it is not very smart.

(Wepohn) #7

Yeah, it was a silly thing to do, I just went with what friends had said about their experiences with the game.

Looking forward to playing it, can’t be any worse than Wolfenstein

(light_sh4v0r) #8

It isn’t, don’t worry. You might have a bit of a hard time starting on the game now, most people who are still playing are veterans by now. Get someone to show you around ingame and you should be fine though, the game is awesome anyway.
Oh, and Welcome!

(hozz) #9

It’s never to late to start with QW (or to reply to a thread).

And if Brink sucks (consolized, no vehicles, WHO KNOWS!), then you have no other choice anyway (remember the people who waited for the new Wolfenstein)

:stroggflag: ETQW FOR EVER :stroggflag:

(scud24) #10

unless it died five minutes ago then it still is and will be for a long time

(Wepohn) #11

Well it took me awhile since I first posted but the games downloading on Steam at the moment.
Wont be long, only 5 and a half hours :’(

Anyway any servers that you guys would recommend?

Thanks.

(Nail) #12

5 hr download ? I’d talk to your ISP

(Wepohn) #13

Done  heh, doubt speaking to them will make any difference, it’s my location. Anyway! Played a few games, game feels good, the more I play it the more i’m enjoying it.

Confused about the stat tracking though, apparently i’ve played over 9 hours etc. They don’t seem to be mine.

answers was:

  1. yes.
  2. yes
  3. you can wait before ZM was start ETQW2 development. hope, they pick SD or [even better]ID team for that project.

(DrFunkenstein) #17

I’d say it’s still active. We’ve had more then 1500 different players on our server in the past 3 weeks or so and that’s based on pbguids. Smurfs are filtered out that way.

Maybe I should reinstall this game. Anyone willing to give me a kick in the pants to get started? Hmmm… wonder where I put my cfgs.
