Salty is incorrect, it must be Salteh!
ET:QW Liquids
why would you remove, without any apparent reason, a useful feature that’s been implemented for ages? Swimming provides cover, it’s one more option you will want to try and it’s also fun when you meet an enemy player and engage a knife combat with him.
You probably played FarCry and you know how important water was to approach/evade certain situations. They even portraited Jack Carver emerging from the water on their game cover.
If, for map balancing reasons, you don’t want people to go underwater then just put a shallow basin where a lake should have been.
I just can’t understand this choice.
Why can’t people look at this from the positive side? For example, you can’t drown any longer!
Yeah but they should at least add piranhas so that if your in water for too long they eat you!
Anyway it would be cool if they added sharks… and controllable mutant ninja bears with lasers and sam sites on theyr back… oh also minelayers and missile silos… Where they keep their nukes…
The thing is that… They create the game… Not us… We just play it… And love it… and embrace it… and make love with it… Scratch that…
Its their choice… we cant change it… unless your a modder <.<
After scrutinizing some screenshots/screen-photos, especially the ones with the UI turned on, and re-watching some shaky cam videos I saved… I just realized that the vehicle window above the Health bar apparently shows how many seats a vehicle has: 6 on the Trojan APC, 5 on a Badger, 6 on the Platypus and so on. The Buffalo is said to hold Pilot+4 I think. There’s only 1 square on the Icarus, of course, so I’m pretty sure it’s the number of seats.
In any case, I think this brings up an interesting point of team asymmetry since the GDF have several of mass transport vehicles while the Strogg don’t seem to have any (of course this may change later on). Strogg also have no water vehicles cept maybe the Desecrator, whereas GDF have the APC and boat. It would suck to have 5 guys die together in 1 rocket attack, but seems like GDF have a big advantage in moving their team across the map, particularly over maps with lots of water. What do you guys think?
Edit: Blargh! Can’t believe I forgot the most important point to this post. I was gonna say that water could have plenty of tactical implications, even if you can only only do limited swimming into it. The Strogg are gonna fail to dominate Earth because of their water-allergies and seasickness.
Lets not forget that they also explode in water…
And they wont die from 1 rocket hit! Cause GDF vehicles are fast! Like really FAST! And there is a good possibility that wheels fall of first!1
Not swimming underwater =
Swimming underwater =
The way it was implemented in Wolf:ET was awesome. You could swim underwater, and it provided a certain amount of cover, but you wern’t invisible and could still be shot to shit.
Things like swimming through the tunnel on oasis or through the sea in battery added an enjoyable, yet still fair and balanced feature of gameplay. Besides, you could swim in all the previous quake games. Infact swimming underwater to pass obstacles was an integral feature to the game.
I mean, imagine for one objective GDF Covert ops have to dive through a hole in the ice and swim up an outlet to get into a facility to take down air defences. Would be awesomeness.
In short - Plz Add.
