For any clan out there looking for a new game to play or already planning on playing Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, we have a great opportunity for you today. Listen up:

idSoftware is now accepting applications from active clans for entry into the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Multiplayer Closed Beta. If your team is interested in helping us improve our product, please send an email to etqwbetatest@activision.com with all of the required information shown
below. Thank you and good luck!

1. Clan name
2. Number of 'active' members
3. Games played regularly
4. Games played competitively
5. Clan website
6. Clan IM details
7. Clan email

This is a great chance for clans to be involved with Quake Wars as well as to help improve the game. If interested, be sure to send your info in today!

Is it fake? Has anyone received this email, too?

(SlippytheWeasel) #2

Not me, but I took a chance and sent in on behalf of my clan. If it’s for real, we might get lucky.

Otherwise, I may get more spam e-mail. lol

i used to be in clans :frowning:

what if your clan is waiting for ET:QW before reforming for that game?

We stopped playing ET competitivly about 2 years ago :expressionless:

(murka) #5

ah just when our clan broke up.

(MuffinMan) #6

same here - almost all et players are gone or switched to css since at least a year… I’m ready to restart the et section though

(Zarkow) #7

CSS? Really? Don’t know anyone that went that way.

Too many that went in the WoW-heroin-direction however…

(Fab) #8

if id software are accepting sign ups then why is it an activision email address?

(Ifurita) #9

Because Activision is the publisher

If this is true:

I know this is only for clans, but I’d like to offer my services as mod developer.

I have played every idgame so far and modded every idgame since quake2 (Q2 & Q3 even on engine side).
I provided most of the gameplay/weaponbalance changes for the Quake4 1.3 patch and have worked on the competition mods XBattle and DeltaCTF and
on my own mod GameType Revolution, which aims to get more fun into Q4 gameplay…

So as I have good knowledge of idsoftware engines, quake-like gameplay and lots of teamwork experience,
I’d like to work together with clans to help optimize the weaponbalance and other gameplay aspects.
I found out this is way more effective, as most players don’t know what exactly they want different, they can only point out the problem and guess what is causing it,
but I can help to analyze the problem and find a solution without the need of the developers expensive time.
I could create small mods to test changes with the clans and see if they work out the way the players wanted them and then send you the suggestions then.

most of us switched over to real life, I still play ET on the pubs, but no time for serious clanage

(Fusen) #12

erm, do you actually follow the clan scene for ET?

www.crossfire.nu

although the players have switched teams/mgc’s alot there is still a hell of a big ET following in the pro scene with LANs happening more so recently than any other time before.

This is legit also as it’s been posted by a guy from MyIS = Myinternetservices who afaik are gonna be involved with the initial launched ranked servers for et:qw

I’d be surprised if they are looking for the less competitive clans though, it’d seem like a wiser idea to try and get clans that are at the very top of their games scene to make et:qw a bit more even on the normal consumer to pro player balance

(Ifurita) #13

based on what I saw in crossfire when some screenshots were leaked, I think ATVI is setting themselves for a bunch of whining and complaining.

(Fusen) #14

that’s why you go for the actual “pro” players as in the very top clans, not the usual whiners that hang about on crossfire :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(Rahabib) #15

my guess is that its a fake. Unless a developer confirms it, id warn others not to get their hopes up.

(Fusen) #16

it’s definitely not fake as all the current closed beta testers received the same email.

I should go find a quote about how everyone on the internet doesn’t believe in anything :stuck_out_tongue:

(Fab) #17

Yeh im a bit suspicious of it aswell. The fact that a single fansite got the e-mail seems to suggest that either the Myis guys have been doing some sucking up or its someone having a laugh.
Its not like Activision to give ETQW exclusives to anyone other than the top gaming sites,Gamespy, 1up etc.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Nevermind: i just read Fusen’s post. It seems that it wasn’t just TQW who got the e-mail.

(ayatollah) #18

And how do you know that? I am sure there are NDA’s against that sort of disclosure…:stuck_out_tongue:

(Sir. Darth_Master) #19

What about communities ?

(Fusen) #20

And how do you know that? I am sure there are NDA’s against that sort of disclosure…:P
the myIS tester obviously didn’t read the fine print then, unless he was given permission to publicly post it
