“Great” is relative I guess, but the inherent latency in most modems means you get at least 100 ms ping, and even a 80 byte packet adds something like 30 ms.

I’ve never even had a 56k modem (I did play ET on 28k for 2 weeks last year when my DSL was down though - beat that addiction!).

I did play ET a few times on a 56k, had a ping of about 130-180, which is acceptable to me.
