Well I did. One time on Goldrush, as Axis, I started as soldier with Flamethrower, and went to guard 2 left entrances to the tank. After cooking few allies, they started insulting me how lame am I, “no acc” “flamethrower requires no skill” etc. I told them they’re just jealous losers, it’s enabled, and to shut up. After tank has been stolen, I obviously changed to Panzerfaust and prepared an ambush. Some time later, after reveiving responses like “STFU” “lame” …they kicked me from the server with 5 minute ban !
Those people obviously never tried to use the flamethrower, or panzerfaust. Any attempt would result in about 20 or so minutes of lying and waiting for a medic. Those weapons are so troublesome and have so many disadventages that I WILL call everyone critizing them an idiot. Except for Last Man Standing, where disabling Panzerfaust is fully justified. Heavy weapons disencourage triggerhappy style of play, and force player to carefully plan his movement. Otherwise he’s dead meat. For a weapon with such limitations, you’d suspect it being potent in some circumstances… .and fortunatelly they ARE. If arogant soldier with godlike aim has his skills nullified because I spent LOTS of time on mastering damn weapon and searching for good spots , it’s my reward and there’s nothing wrong about it. I prefer another style of play, for instance as a medic Light Weapons is my lowest skill.
I often use Panzerfaust as Axis soldier, it’s great defensive weapon. Certainly much more all-around than Flamethrower or Mobile Mg42, which are useful in just several places in the game.
Especially great for panzerfaust are: Rail Gun (axis tower, or top of the stairs near depot yard), and Siwa Oasis (Old City).
I’m also often called lamer/panzer whore for that. I’m often told that “it’s not DM” etc. I hate closemindness. If a weapon is enabled on server, and my class-specific skill encourages using it, I will do that. I always protect objectives.
I tried to defend numerous places in Old City with both Flamethrower and Mg, but they aren’t nearly as effective as camping somewhere high with Panzerfaust, sorry. I have to wait 10+ seconds ( I don’t really know how much) between shots, and have no weapon for self defense if ambushed. Panzefaust is great for removing people hiding behind corners, or snipers.
As for Railgun, especially if there are some allies with good aim, they usually try to make gayfest with SMG’s near axis spawn point. If you are only decent player player on team, there’s nothing you can do about Covert Ops/Fieldops with medics swarming your base. My answer to that is to take Panzerfaust and sneak onto the tower… with lots of allies running around, it’s the greatest Panzerfaust hideout in all 6 maps, and you can prevent Gun Controls from being destroyed. Airstrike cover included, and snipers won’t have much fun hunting you.
It is their fault if they choose to attack our base, I don’t feel sorry for wannabe-spawncampers. 40-50 kills per match is not uncommon on 18 people server. I usually have around 5 or less missed shots, and 0-5 teamkills so I’m not that bad.
Call me whatever you want, I won’t stop. I’m bored of endless SMG fights. Panzerfaust is one of 2 (2nd is Mg) weapons known to kill dreadful Medics quickly and for good. Medics surviving my perfect Flamethrower ambushes make me MAD, even if I often play Medic myself.
