Planetwolfenstein reported that the game was to be released early next week last week. Well Sunday is the 1st day of the week but lets say a work week so then its Monday. Then Wednesday is middle week Thursday-Friday are late week. We already passed Monday so I expect to see ET on Tuesday sometime, thats tomarrow. :drink: Bring on ET final!!! :notworthy:
ET final Relaese?
But im amazed, because i cant find anything on Activisions- or SD`s Website that let me know a release comes this week.
Can you direct me to the source?
Yes, i know the News
. But when i follow this:
“Check out the official site, http://www.castlewolfenstein.com, for more information.”
I can`t find such news.
To me, “early” is Monday or Tuesday.
Wednesday = Middle of the week.
Thursday, Friday = Late week.
I’m guessing we won’t see it released "early this week"tho.

No game is ever BUG FREE. I’m sure ET will be alright when released TODAY. <Marine voice> Lets go lets go Move it!!! </Marine voice>
I hope it is released today but i have my doubts im thinking more wednesday, then again for all we know it might take another 2 weeks.
Judging by those screenshots on RTCW files, there are going to be a LOT of complaints from the peeps running older systems. But hey, I’m not one of them
And does that third shot show dual silenced pistols? Sweeeeeet.
I dunno. There is only the one article that is reporting that ET is coming out early this week. It may just be a rumor. Although I’d prefer it to be out today, I wouldn’t mind if it took another week or two.
Frankly, however reasonable amount of time it takes to get it right is pretty much ok with me. What constitutes reasonable? It depends on how things are going in the bug hunt from the developer point of view. It would be nice to get the occasional progress report that is a little more specific than - “soon” or “things are going well”. But, I have to balance this desire for more info with the knowledge that the game is being given away to us! That alone warrants some extra patience!

I don’t think the bugs are the main issue, I think play balancing is. Bugs can be redressedin future patches, but people won’t be impressed if major gameplay changes are made months after the game has been released. (unless of course it’s improving the voices
)
Well I didn’t notice any “major” changes that needed doing. As is I think it plays fine. Trouble is, what constitutes a major bug for one person could be seen as a cool feature for someone else.
This isn’t aimed at you Damocles but I get fed up with people saying “SD have got to do this and that cos this is what everyon wants” - well I don’t mind people speaking on behalf of “everyone” so long as they consult “everyone” - which is obviously impossibe - SO DON’T SAY IT!!
Feel free to ignore me - I’m in one of those moods.

where do you think official news comes from? the official site?
tonight or tomorrow night might be nice timing, i read at least one member of SD is at E3? <- that one is only rumour
er and yeah, SD will release whatever they want, but the purpose of the Test is to make suggestions, which is what people are doing (if getting a tad carried away sometimes).
As I posted in another forum:
The beta testers are still under a gag order not to discuss specifics about the game. However, I think I am on safe grounds by saying that:
-
There is an active group of beta testers that is aggressively taking your feedback, in addition to ours, and presenting it, and the rationale, to the developers (Activision, id, and Splash Damage)
-
The aforementioned developers have been great to work with. They have been active in the forums, playing the games with us, taking the time to answer questions, and have been very receptive to our (read that as your) feedback
-
We (the beta testers) do not have any word on the timing of the release of Final
-
Somethings will change, some won’t. Regardless of the changes, people will still bitch that it isn’t RTCW - is that surprising?
-
Some of the developers are good, real good at the game. At least 4 of the mappers (NakedApe, LloydM, Q-Fraggel, and Socks) have been mapping since the early days of Quake 3 and Rocket Arena in addition to RTCW. Don’t chalk up the current gameplay/map decisions to “I’ll bet they’ve never played the game”
That will be all.

I never meant my post to be construed that way. I simply meant that if they are going to make any large changes, it should be done before release. It’s up to them what they change. Those of us that posts suggestions are doing just that - suggesting ideas, not telling them they must do it.
I’m quietly confident that I speak on behalf of everyone on these forums when I say how much we appreciate the efforts of the SD team in bringing us a great game.

Not at all
I think ET is good because it’s so different from wolf. It would have been only mediocre if it was just another mod for wolf. Saying ET is bad because it’s not wolf is like saying DOD is crap because you can’t recharge your HEV suit.
Personally, I think ET would benefit if it lost the woflenstein monicker - but I’m guessing that’s a marketing ploy and Activision wouldn’t hear of such radical talk
You’d think at least one SD person would see this thread and say something as to the release. They have to know something by now. It sure wouldn’t hurt to just come out and say hey guys/gals we found a few more bugs, balance issues and we’re going to be a few days more till release or get ready to start DLing it. Anything would be nice.
Ifurita, will the bugs people have listed in the stickypost on this forum be reported even if not e-mailed to etbugs@idsoftware.com?
excellent post Ifurita… I would add only two things to it
4: Not only will they bitch if it is not RTCW, people will bitch no matter what.
6: “Early this week” in software development is NOT the same as “early this week” in the rest of the universe. Software developers actually inhabit a rift in the space time continuum, which only contacts normal spacetime on rare occasions.
