We play nice or we don’t get to play at all.
If a conversation can’t be had without recourse to swearing, it might not be worth having.
It doesn’t sound like this topic is advancing in any meaningful way. Shouting and swearing can be conducted elsewhere, at no cost to anyone else.

Well, no shouting is needed… But several people in this thread have suggested using Prime95 and Memtest86 to test the system for basic stability. Adec doesn’t comply. That means we’ll never know if his system is stable or not. Which makes continuing this thread rather pointless.

The fact that people with similar systems play without crashes indicates that your problem is either something wrong with your system, or something which is at least correctable by tweaking it. There is really no other logical conclusion. Since you are the one experiencing the problem, you are going to have to do the grunt work of figuring it out. All we can do is suggest possible solutions based on our experience. If you are unwilling to listen to them, then WTF are you posting here for ?

Aside from the well known ‘crash after download’ bug, my ET crashes less than once per week, and I play a lot.

You might try deleting the servercache.dat files, since those are known to get corrupted. Usually this causes crashes when you attempt to use the in game browser, but I suppose it could have other effects.

Another thing to try would be many different video drivers, being sure to completely clean out each one between installs.

If he wants the problem solved let him use the solutions suggested here and maybe if he starts a fresh with the results and system specs correctly like common sense would tell you to do then maybe we can fix his problem then let Snuggs spawn camp him… or brute force anal entry him. :]
