In Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory, why were the vehicles Jagdpanther and Churchill AVRE ‘Petard’ chosen? IMO, it would be better if it were the obvious Sherman and Tiger tanks, because everybody knows about them and they are simple :chef:
Enemy Territory vehicles...
Don’t know about the Jagdpanther but perhaps the Churchill AVRE was choosen because they accidentally put petrol in the big tank in the map Fueldump? The Churchill runs on petrol and not diesel.
Seriously, I have no idea, but I do have a general interest in “behinds the scenes” information so if anyone in the dev-team remembers it would be interesting to hear their answers to this questions.
More about Fueldum here:

Thats probably why, I guess the designers weren’t too excited by the idea of designing their levels with stuff thats so common, don’t we all want to be special?
Now, where did I put my Sturmtiger and the Maus ?
What about an M18 for the allies and a Sturmgeschütz IV (with Schurzen) for axis then? :bump: Considering ‘Maus’ never were further than Prototype stage, one rusting in a corner and one captured by the USSR displayed in Kubinka tank Museum that would be illogical unless you made it easily damaged (to show constant breakdowns)
There are custom tiger and sherman models available.
Detoeni’s models
Not sure where the tiger can be found.
But I’ve ssen them on a map.
Maybe SD isn’t americanized yet and are not required to use the Sherman and Tiger so eeeeveryoonne will know it’s a tank.
You’re going to be disappointed with ETQW, too - instead of the familiar America vs a random Middle East coalition, we’ve gone with the combined armies of Earth vs. an invading alien civilisation. Sorry about that.
so far GDF looks more like an American team, rather than different nations, to me >.o
Is that primarily because of the logo, or some other factor?
The vehicles are meant to be fairly country-neutral. The GDF Titan bears more resemblance to an Israeli Merkava 4 tank than it does, say, the M1A2 Abrams. The Trojan APC is more inspired by the Russian BTR series of APCs with their front mounted weapons than the Bradley with its mid/rear-mounted turret, etc. We don’t have helicopters as such, and neither of the GDF ground-effect aircraft look particularly like any existing choppers from any army…
Like the vehicles, the uniforms, kit and weaponry is set far enough along that I don’t think it’s particularly recognisable as based on any one current army. Is there anything that stands out for you?
Well - they all seem to look the same and kinda “whitish”. Do note: I haven’t been lucky enough to play ET:QW so I haven’t seen them up close in the current beta version.

yea…they all look and sound like americans imo, as much as I’ve seen and heard from the movies…
Not that it really matters
