I have been thinking that maybe ET: QW could replace CS 1.6 as The team based game. It would be really nice to see some changes in there. CS 1.6 has been around for ages (because there hasn’t been any potential team based games to replace 1.6?) and I think now is a great time to move on.
What really got me enthusiast about this was when Paul Wedgwood stated that they are not going to make ET:QW newbie friendly game and that there would be a lot depth in game to keep gamers playing it more than a just a few weeks.
In my opinion Quakewars has a tons of potential:1) Gameplay looks very promising 2) Splash Damage (they know how to make team based multiplayer games)
3) The game should attract Battlefield, CS 1.6 / Source, Enemy Territory, and maybe even Quake players. Now that’s a HUGE player base!
However there are a few things that I’m concerned about:
The maps are designed for 24 player games (12 vs. 12) - I think that’s way too much and sponsor are not going to pay so many flights, hotels. Etc for 12 people
The problem: Do the maps fit for 5 vs. 5 matches?
QWTV: Is there been any plans to release some sort of Quakewars TV: This is very important to attract more mainstream players and to keep esports scene live and kicking.
What do you think guys? Is there any change that we could see ET:QW in CPL, ESWC etc?
I think that takes time but I know that is certainly possible if the game is popular enough and has enough potential.
I know there are few spelling errors here and there apologies for that
