my favorite quote from there:
When a person would rather play with a computer controlled “bot rather than a live opponent, the design has failed as a multiplayer game.

I said it once and I said it again: this considers that the player has reliable servers and other players at their disposal at any given time. Sometimes, people want to play against bots not because they hate humans, but because it’s the only option available. Not the whole world lives on Europe or on USA with dozens of servers and players a few miliseconds way.

maybe, but the phrase which Nail quotes is total bs and has no real foundation. i could as well say: When a person would rather play with a bunch of tapirs rather than humans or strogg, the design has failed as a zoo game.
btw: thanks for the links
Seems I’m one of those few that doesn’t mind playing with a ping of 160 and some rare “lockups”.

Lucky you – 160 is a low enough ping. When UT2k4 came out I loved ONS but we didn’t have any server on the whole south america. I used to play half of the time against bots, and the other half of the time with a 240ms+ ping on american servers. And these are the close ones (near Atlanta).
With BF2 it’s quite the contrary; we have many local servers and I can play with a bunch of people online with a 20ms ping and fully enjoy my ADSL line and my game.
Will I be lucky enough with ETQW, will some ISP decide to open a local server and make the bot issue irrelevant? I don’t know, but somehow I doubt, considering Activision basically ignores the market down here (contrary to EA btw).
there is a new preview availavle from the german GameStar print magazin.

New exclusive leaked scanned screenshot:
It seems the tapir is the GDF scout/ranger class (notice the sniper rifle).
Nice find. SD has great detail. Mixing cartoon with real like gfx. Very nice done. Seems the Tapir is on his covert operation in the strogg base. It seems he knows where the stroggy-fying center is! Behind those doors. Great quality! Nice job SD.
:tapir:
That’s the way to do it after a long day at the office or maybe jet lag…
Anyway, I liked the interview from jolt, rather funny in parts. Cool how you see things from a gamers perspective after being an obsessive one yourself.
PS: The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time - I’ve read that… cool book.
Check you PM’s
