The cl_heron thing happens if people directly port their PB cvars restrictions to etpro cvar restrictions without paying attention. Heron blindly sets cl_heron to 1 every 0.5s or so, and this would get you booted with a PB cvar restriction, but etpro tries to correct the value instead.

I’ve read many of the posts here about hacking. I am admin at a server and it happens sometimes that people use hacks…that are undetected by pb. Well I am often on server playing with the guys, and I did take some nice shots of their wallhacks, punkbuster cannot detect private hacks and it will never.

Anyway do you wanna know the funniest cheaters? The ones that turn off their aimbot as soon as you spectate them. They just suck horribly for the rest of the game. It’s hilarious.
Hey arcan, did you can just turn up your volume real loud and listen to footsteps of enemy players trudging idiotically through the tunnels getting ready to accuse you of aimbotting and wallhacking just because you were listening carefully and you were ready aiming at the spot where his head would appear right around the corner because you knew he would do it because Axis never bother to use stealth and hardly anybody knows how to use ET’s walking feature to its fullest advantage. gasp

I crouch a lot, particulary when approaching an entrance I know has opposition on the other side. Combined with a simple lean, and you’ve got the advantage when you burst in or lob a nade. But alas, the number of times I’ve been sneaky and leaning in and watched some teammate run straight and into MG fire or 4 or 5 SMG’s worth of bullets. People never learn.

Tools for wallhackin can be found at ur local DIY store, but make sure ur parents are fine with it.
Also, there’s user here who has new cheat for unlimited xp, u might want to contact him.
There’s a minority of ppl who dont like cheaters, make sure u dont get caught by them …

I haven’t seen any hacks or cheats recently but I can say that ET is very ping “unforgiving” which is probably part in parcel why it is not a commercial release any longer. I know there are games out there that compensate for bad ping but I’m sure ET does not. In testing it is obvious that ET relies heavily on ping.
The only sort of cheating I have seen is by the admins of servers and by players exploiting friendly fire off.
FF brings with it consequences. With it off FF can bring with it unhappy results, such as propelling a player over a wall using a grenade, propelling them onto say the north/south guns in oasis, or propelling them to a location where they can continue to call in art strikes and you can’t see them because you never look up at those locations.
The server admins are probably the most likely to cheat and cheat the most. They have control of the server variables and can change things for them and their side easily. On one server I’ve seen the admins modify the teams and lock them down on the fly without restarting the server (and hence resetting the exp). They have the opportunity to modify the respawn rate once they do this or other factors that the players won’t have any knowledge of.
Some of the suspected hacks are increased repeat rate of machine guns, damage mitigation boosts, damage avoidance boosts, etc.
These have yet to be proven and no way can punkbuster detect them when the server admin controls the punkbuster rules.
Some may say that the server admins can do this all they want due to the fact that it is their server. The problem with this argument is that the server admins can draw in players with a set of rules and then modify them when they want to play “humuliation”. This would be less likely on competition servers but very likely on public servers.
If there is smoke there’s usually fire.
What is very important to understand is that no one has taken real responsibility for ET’s game integrity due to the fact that was released (source code and all) to the public and no one takes the job of maintaining that integrity seriously.
There are real good ET players. I consider myself to be above average as a machine gunner. I can duke it out with almost everyone, but there are players that seem to be able to do the impossible, such as taking an incredible amount of damage and always having enough ammo to kill the next of the 4 or so that they are fighting and they seem to be able to do this time and again.
What has been brought to my attention, as I have been studying it, is that the repeat rate may be being modified below the threshold that punkbuster may monitor yet above the balance line which will give the cheating player the opportunity to consistently win in duels even amongst 3-5 players.
Until we get some reassurances from the community leaders I would not rule out cheats and hacks, but as I have said, I have never seen them, but I do suspect they are there and mostly being used by the server admins and referees and a few others that have the ins.

Since ET has been out I’ve seen 2 player wall hacking and 3 aim bots. 1 wall 2 aim of them were on PB 0 servers, so PB is doing it’s job. Although with the apparent apathy, the guys at evenbalance can retire now.

Ah, yes, all those noobs who complain about cheating. Prime example of a loser, imo. I’ve been accused of cheating numerous times, and I’d say that these accusers got some problems. (1) They suck. Hard. (2) They don’t understand that some people are more talented and experienced than others. (3) They will not accept neither number 1 or 2, so they have to take it out on those who own them in the most pathetic manner possible.
And, I have to agree with all of those who say that they have never caught a cheater. If I happen to stumble upon a person who surpasses me in both skill and experience, I spec him for a while. Not to decide whether or not he cheats, but to pick up a few good ideas for myself.
Of course, I’ve seen people getting kicked for attempting to cheat, before being able to fully enter the server, but that’s it.
I think, for sure, that those who complain about cheating, have never seen a cheater, ever. I played a lot of Call of Duty before (and after) it got PB, and I caught a few cheaters red-handed. You see right away that they use aimbot, or whatever. Their crosshair moves in the most unnatural manner possible. I eventually quit the game till it got PB, because it got too silly at times.
