PLS PLS PLS help me, i wanna play this game!!!

More information would help. Are you playing in a LAN environment, or are you using a personal firewall? Software firewall, or hardware?

(Qraft) #4

me and a friens share a internet conection and uses a thing (dont know what its called in english, router maybe) to share the connection and it has a hardware firewall.

(LongStrike) #5

This sounds similar to my problem I still dont know how I fixed it I simply loaded up my personal firewall ( zomealarm) and it came alive you could try it www.zonelabs.com. Or just get your mate to turn the firewall off to check he could probably set up a rule to let you play if that is a problem but doing that depends on the router.

/me hates firewalls

(Qraft) #7

Zonealarm didnt work :frowning:

(Qraft) #8

Someone from Splashdamage That can tell me?

I think you need to disable your hardware firewall, if only to eliminate it as the cause of your problems.

Something else occured to me: on the in-game browser screen, do you have the source set to internet?

Just below the title FILTER, you will see the word Source. Make sure it says Source: Internet. If it doesn’t, click the word Source until Internet is displayed.

If at that point you still do not see any servers, your internet connection is the problem, possibly caused by your firewall.

Also, make sure your rate is set to 25000 if you have high-speed access (this is important only after your current problem has been corrected)

Set your rate in the console by typing: /rate 25000

Yes i have the source set on internet. if i use the All-Seeing eye i do find servers, but cant connect to them in the game. Can i disable my hardware firewall on my router?

(BOOTSAUCE) #11

I’ve never used a router and have no idea whaether you have a cable or DSL connection, but try this:

  1. Disconnect the incoming internet connection from your router
  2. Disconnect the router from your computer
  3. Connect the incoming internet connection directly to your machine
  4. You mentioned having tried zonealarm - uninstall it for now if you still have it on your machine - zonealarm doesn’t like to be disabled

In case this doesn’t work:

  • what kind of internet connection do you have?
  • which operating sustem are you using?

(Qraft) #12

I have DSL 0,5 mbit connection, and i cant connect the internet directly to my computer. I dont use Zonealarm anymore becouse it didnt work. Im using Windows XP. Can it be that i have to open a speciel port in my router?

(BOOTSAUCE) #13

Two things:

  1. why can’t you connect the internet directly to your computer? Is it because you do not have access to the router?

  2. let’s make sure XP’s built-in firewall is not running.

Follow these steps:

  • From the Start Menu open the control panel
  • double-click Network Connections icon
  • right-click on Local Area Connection and select properties
  • in the new window, click the advanced tab
  • uncheck this box (disables XP’s crappy firewall)

The Firewall XP uses is sett off. I have never used it. And i cant connect the internet directly to my computer because i dont have a crossed cable that is that long. and even if i could connect the internet directly to my computer and the game would work, i couldnt do that, because then my friend wouldnt have a internet connection and he plays online 24/7.

(BOOTSAUCE) #15

But, we do need to figure why you’re having this problem. If in connecting the internet directly to your machine we solve the problem, we woul dhtne know where to focus in figuring out a more permanent solution.

This friend of yours that installed the router, is he not available to help you fix this?

(Qraft) #16

but i cant connect the internet to my computer directly becouse i dont have cable that is long enough. i guess i can ask my friend and see what he has to say.

(BOOTSAUCE) #17

Getting your friend involved is a good idea. In the meantime, perhaps you can move computer closer to the router, just to try connecting to the internet directly.

(Qraft) #18

i open every port on the firewall and it didnt work. maybe it isnt the firewall thats causing it not to work. Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer demo works on the internet, so why dont Enemy Territory work. What has Splashdamage done to the game :banghead:

(BOOTSAUCE) #19

Damn. I am stumped. :???:
