EB Games: Quake Wars release pushed back to March 2007?

(datoo) #21

Srsly guys… why even post this?

(crumblycake) #22

Amazon now has it that they will “deliver it to me on August 4-5”…ummmm that’s around the same time as Quakecon, ummmmm…

It says the people at QuakeCon will be able to play ET:QW FIRST.

Ok, lets think about this.

E3. They had the beta version, and last I checked E3 was in the past while QC is in the Future. To say that the people at QuakeCon will play it FIRST would be a misrepresentation if they were still playing the beta version, as E3 obviously played that first. So this leaves me to conclude that at QC people will be able to play either the final game first, OR the demo first.

We know in the past that most demos were released right after QC (ID games that is). We also know that they are planning on having a demo. (Read it somewhere) Now we think a littile bit, and we can be quite sure that the demo will be availible to atendees at QuakeCon, and to the rest of the world after QuakeCon.
Of course we don’t have hard facts or anything, but I personally am confident that that is what will happen.

Now as to the date of the game release: After mid August, but before mid October. That would be my guess. The game would be basically finished by the time quakecon rolls around, but they could collect feedback on the game and tweak things while the art guys finish up another map, or just fine tune things.

Since this game does have unique weapons and vehicles per team, they will want to have it thoughly tested before it goes gold. There will be some balance issues, and the last thing you want is a BF2 style launch.

QC is AFTER August 4-5 (as I remember) so we can assume Amazons release date is wrong. We can also assume any date past october/november of this year is wrong also.

No, they said quakecon would be the first chance for the public to play it. E3 is strictly media and industry.

Also, according to SD, what was shown at E3 was more of an alpha than a beta.

however, anyone here who volunteers to record some ingame vidz … loooooooong ones … and host it on the web?

Pff, you can stand it. Just play ET, RTCW, or other MP games. Or even SP FPS games. ET:QW isnt a game that wipe out all other games. I play ET 90% of my gaming time. There are other good games out there, for you to have fun and flirt with on the side. ET is always #1  For example I have played Prey MP the last few days for about 20-30 min a day, at night. Variation of games is good for you. You will like ET better when you come back to ET.

(Joe999) #27

there aren’t other mp games, there’s only ET, i don’t waste my time with low quality crap which is no fun, i’d rather read a book :uhoh: prey mp ain’t my type o’ game and sp fps games are boring. i’ve come back to ET so many times now, i think for me it starts to burn out, 3 years is a long time, it still is the best mp game out there, but the flame burns out for me.

i hate that summer hole, nothing new. just got the vacation money and there’s nuthin to spend it on :frowning:

Anyone from SD, please enlighten us what the real deal is going to be. Pick a number between 1 and 4…

  1. STFU, it will be out when it’s done, mmkey!
  2. What SniperSteve said.
  3. What SCDS_reyalP said.
  4. silence

Let’s hear it…

Inigo Jones, not to be confused with the Australian meteorologist Inigo Owen Jones, was born in 1573, died in 1652, and is generally regarded as the first English architect of note, as well as a supremely gifted stage designer. Major works include Queen’s House in Greenqhich, Banqueting House in Whitehall (ceiling paintings by Peter Paul Rubens) and the piazza of Covent Garden. He is often given credit for introducing both the proscenium arch and movable scenery to British theatre.

(poiza) #30

I will kill this -> if you will not release the game within 2006 ; )))))))))))))

(ParanoiD) #31

I believe that EA paid them for that! Now ppl think ET:QW will be released in 2007 and they can’t wait tthat long so they pre-order BF2142.

(Nishua) #32

Yes, but it’s a bomber and not player-controlled.

…I’m mostly just replying to this thread so anyone browsing the forum will see my name under Last Post, shriek, and click to find out if the date is real or not. Tee hee.

Thats nefarious man. Anyhow EB games doesnt know crap about gaming, same goes for about 85% of their employees. To be honest I dont think we will see the game until 07 anyway. Or SD & ID are keeping things hush hush for now and are going to hit us with a ton a news sometime in August. BUt if you we dont hear anything new by then I would defintiely think we are going to see a 07 release for this game.

(Tubbe) #33

That dude was born on July 15th… :eek2: What’s going on here?

(fjavier) #34

Bornt on 4th July ?

Don’t know, but seems a good data to ship game or demo.

(poiza) #35

i dont mind getting a game or demo directly from birthday party

(TotalQW|Ace101) #36

I’m have a good feeling about July 15th

(darki) #37

impossible… dont think theyll release the demo or even the game before the quakecon^^

(iwound) #38

mmmmm so what your saying is its the Da’ Bongoboy Code.
I bagsy the the book rights.

(Shanks) #39

But Richard Boyle (linked at the bottom) died on Dec 15! Now we know the true release date!

(Joe999) #40

not impossible, they could eg give a demo out to the masses 2 weeks before quakecon and make the first official tournament at quakecon. would be more interesting than a tournament with (the already dead) quake 4. but it’s unlikely that they change what has been said: … and the public’s first chance to play Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. however, i think the quakecon will be full under the light of ET & ET:QW, so if there are tournaments they’ll be with ET. we’ll see.
