@RazielWarmonic how bout give us no lifes rewards for reaching certain things. This leveling is as hollow as COD’s leveling. I would have gotten bored a long time ago if the gameplay wasn’t so good
Do you want Level to be shown or not? Or...
I’ll definitely bring this up, I’m just letting you all know that there aren’t CURRENT plans to change this, however that is always up to change.
Aight my points of view are:
1- It’s easier to detect cheaters, if I see a guy who’s lvl 30 for example and has good aim, i’m less likely to suspect him of cheating, granted obvious cheaters are easy to detect anyway.
2- It shouldn’t be hidden, it’s an achievement, shows how much experience you have in the game.
3- It’s a good merit to give me an understanding of what i’m dealing with. When i play pubs, i tend to not tryhard, so if I see a guy who’s lvl 20+ i’m assuming he knows how to play and so I fine tune my play style (as in be more careful of what actions I take) where as playing vs low levelers, they’re usually too newbie to even hear footsteps so I tend to just have fun and do stupid stuff instead of actually holding angles and what not.
The difference of this and ranked play are, when you get a level 10 in ranked (ik levels are hidden in ranked) who is say gold 3, you know he is a gold 3 in terms of skill, he may or may not be as experienced as a guy with 20 levels but that doesnt matter since ranked play gives you ranked play.
Pubs however, not really.
I say keep em, most people argue it causes toxicity towards the more veteran players, I say you can mute the toxic.
Good day.
P.S. I only believe you should make leveling up more rewarding, like every 10 levels get an elite case/ trinket/ whatever. It’d honestly motivate people to play more as well.
There is no benefits for someone’s level if it simply stands for how much someone has played a game.
I’m by far no means the best but I see people simply expecting me to be a beast on our team for being almost level 30, expecting me to never miss, to not make a single mistake.
Yet I can’t complain about someone who’s level 12 not understanding that charging their paddles heals for more, that other people need their ammo, that engineers repair faster?
And that is with someone who’s almost level 30, I can’t even imagine with people who are around the 50s or more, I love Dirty Bomb but I’ve got other things in life to deal with, such as college and work and other games to enjoy and can get quite rusty.
There is a game by the name of APB that has an interesting take on it levels, while there is a constant level shown with symbols. representing what the player might have at their disposal, vehicles, weapons, augments. There is a quality added, that represents how well the player in particular is doing for the current time ranging from green, bronze, silver and gold. Their current performance for the game’s matchmaking.
Well, when I thought about this poll, my main concern was about high level players being offended and insulted for their level.
First: I do not care at all about leveling up. Maybe because actually there is no benefit in this.
When I enter a server, and I look at other players level, this tells me what kind of match it COULD actually going to be. We can’t be sure about this because we’ve even seen low level players doing very well, and the opposite happens too.
So if I’m on the side with some high level players vs a team of quite low, I can have a false sense of balance/unbalance.
Also, people leave at start, or before middle game, start a vote as soon as match start, and this is a fact.
What encourage me to play better, is not a high number next to the enemy player name kicking my ass, but, instead, is what he does that make him/her a great player.
I try to learn from what other do. My point of view of course.
You can have a different point of view and being encouraged by that number. It’s legit, I respect your choice.
But let me please choose to display my level to other players or not at least.
@RazielWarmonic thanks for answering, I was not asking to remove level but to give option to hide.
As @Jostabeere said, and maybe others too, level could be hidden above lvl 20 or just show 20+, whatever.
This way might works.
Last, I think we all are here to give constructive feedback for the benefit of the game and us.
I was about to suggest the same thing as @steelMailbox
Just to add onto the idea he presented:
- Titles for reaching milestones (levels).
- Event titles, kinda like the recent event trinkets.
- Purchased titles, this will add another thing that people can spend money on (rather then gamble on cases)
- Gameplay related titles.
- Ability related titles. Certain amout of kill with a class specific ability.
If it’s not shown, then less people will understand the need for a shuffle vote and/or a shuffle won’t take place until it’s too late. Level is generally a decent connection to skill. If the level is seen, then people will actually vote to shuffle because it can be blatantly obvious it’s an uneven match (7 level 10s and below vs 7 level 15s and up).
There are exceptions to this, but I’m speaking for the majority of time. Don’t get me wrong, level doesn’t necessary equal skill nor does it always predict the outcome of the match. Now if team-balancing was better, I wouldn’t mind too much hiding level, but in that case, there just shouldn’t be any levels at all.
I honestly don’t mind the levels, it actually helps me check who’s the biggest threat on enemy team, as in who I should look out for and not try to take them as lightly as someone level 5.
But I actually really like Jostabeere’s solution. Would be nice if players above level 20 or 25 would have like a Dirty Bomb Veteran badge in the place where there should be the level displayed. (Would be really cool if outfits would have Jackals/CDA badge on one shoulder and then levels/veteran badge on the other.)
Because I don’t want to be relied on and blamed for losing cause I have the shittiest aim in the community.
‘‘Experience means nothing. You can do something badly for 35 years’’

instead of years you can say Level
But seriously - i don’t care that much about the lvl.
There are ppl that will feel in a disadvantage when they see the overall lvl of an enemy Team is higher.
There will low lvl blamed for a bad game even if its not necessary they’re fault.
But more so it shows you what you dealing with. Even though i dont pay much attention to it.
There a people that do so i think keeping it visible is a good thing.
Also may adding a option where you can toggle the Lvl to Public on and off. So every one can decide for himself about the visibility.
I feel too pretentious asking my team mates to do things while being level 60, don’t want to give off the impression that I feel entitled to boss them around just because I’m a high level.
The placebo effect would disappear but not the actual skill. Plus you would want to know who you are up against.
Make your level showing in public matches optional and add little titles that can replace your level in the scoreboard, kinda like Blacklight: Retribution.
SERIOUSLY they take such offense to you saying something like “hey that aura pad is badly placed you might wanna try xxxx” then get a response “fuck you no life virgin” like wtf >.>
Okay, I don’t think levels should be shown, but I do have a solution. There was a game, might have been something like natural selection, where new players were given green names to indicate that they were new to the game so more experienced players could help them out. That way, you can know who could still use some tips, and stop the whole “They have a higher level than me, ragequit” and the hate based on levels.
Edit: Also can we get an expert case every 5 levels or something? that we can get a reward for playing well.
Yep, in Natural Selection 2, new players had a option to have there name shown as green to teammates, other then that, they also had servers with green names to show that these servers are newb friendly.
Just 1 question, at what point should this green name disappear from a player? at level 5, 10? even higher?

I’d say 10, maybe 12?
There’s no reason to not show levels other than to protect special snowflake precious egos.
I’d rather have more information than less.
Was in a match where I tried to balance by switching then the person about to join left (assuming he saw my level) then it all went downhill for the enemy team. I really don’t think level should be displayed unless it is tied to skill
