Delayed Again!!

I found this on total quake wars site…

As many of you already know, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has been
delayed again, this time until July-September. After many sources coming
out and saying this, we’ve decided to post it up here for you guys to
discuss.

In fiscal year 2007 financial results released today, publisher Activision
revealed that Splash Damage’s upcoming multiplayer shooter Enemy
Territory: Quake Wars is expected to release in the company’s second
quarter of fiscal year 2008. Given Activision’s fiscal schedule, this
suggests that the game will be released some time between the months
of July and September of this calendar year. Though the game has
always been publicly assigned a “when it’s done” release projection,
today’s announcement suggests that Quake Wars was previously
expected to ship by June of this year. “As you know, id Software makes
the final decision on the release date,” said Activision CFO Thomas Tippl
in an analyst conference call following today’s release.

Last July, Quake Wars was announced as being pushed back to 2007 from
its expected 2006 release period. Activision and Splash Damage
representatives have maintained a general 2007 release expectation
since then. There was no indication as to whether the Xbox 360 and
PlayStation 3 versions of the game, developed by Nerve Software and Z
Axis respectively and revealed since that announcement, are related to
the delay.
We will keep you all posted once we learn more about the delays and the
eventual release date for ETQW.

For me its looking more & more likely that they are waiting for the
consoles to be finished aswell before they release… After reading
abt UT3 coming for a September release I think ID & Activision are
playing a dangerous game & they will lose…

geez, I was hoping this type of silliness wouldn’t show up here, bad enough reading all the mis-informed bad guesses in the QW forums

The idea that a developer would delay a finished game just to have a simultaneous release with consoles is utter nonsense. Never mind that SD have already clearly stated they are only responsible for the PC version, or that the console ports were announced long after the game itself.

no, that’s called reality, Activision isn’t going to delay release of a finished multi-million dollar game so it can release on consoles the same date, it’s pretty much only PC gamers that are wanting QW. The console developers don’t even mention QW on their sites, Z-Axis site is actually down. The thought is rediculous to the extreme, no company turns away huge amounts of money

'specially with other big name games on the horizon. They have to release it soon or they are faced with losing a HUGE portion of the market share.

Crysis, Frontline: Fuel of War, just to name a few. Granted they’re not going to be out for awhile, but if they keep pushing back the game people are going to lose interest in it and start looking forward to these other games that will be coming out.

It’s not been delayed. Release is still in 2007.

Besides I don’t have my new gaming rig built yet, so waiting is fine by me.

W: ET is now four years old and is still being played… If that is any indication of the longevity ET: QW will have then it doesn’t matter if it is released a few months earlier or later. People will play it for years to come.
Those other games? Meh.

tbh i like this kind of independence. not the typical “game out now, fix later with patches” (EA) publisher attitude which usually gets extended by “fix only if enough peopz bought it” kind of motivation.

about the shacknews article: i’m wondering why totalqw copies/supports this kind of sillyness.

removing the destructible environment for multiplayer pretty much turned me off Fuel of War for the forseeable future, make a fun SP though

(SCi-Fi) #12

theyve turned that bit off, i thought it was the only bit abt that game
that looked interesting…

Crysis is due in September, UT3 due in September and now Quake Wars.
In my eyes thats far to much choice, half my squad are now lookin at UT3
as that is where they are originally from. You never give ppl too many
choices in business as you never know what they will do.

I think they are tryin to ride on the online Quake shooters name, but this
isnt a online quake game…

How can a game that doesnt have a release date in the first place be delayed?

(SCi-Fi) #14

ID must of had a hidden agenda where QW was to be released in June,
thats why all the Adverts started to appear(marketing machine starts to move)…

(Gringo) #15

Same for me, should have it ready in a few months time and that is the reason why it hasnt be released yet. Of course delaying it for simultaneous release with console is utter rubbish, they waiting for me cuz they lubs me!

I like July cos i predicted it to be July so im happy aslong as its the 13th
