Coward players, I hate you all

(bani) #21

Was playing on a pub server once in the early days of etmain.

It was stacked teams something like 12 axis to 6 allies. Basically axis had the tank locked down at the bridge.

Repeated pleas to even the teams were blown off with ‘stfu luser’ and similar intelligent responses.

Went allied covops, snagged a uni and convinced someone to go eng and follow me into the tunnel. Axis were of course so busy “pwning all you lusers” that they didnt notice.

Sneaked into the fueldump and planted.

About 5 seconds later axis called a vote to reset match, and it of course passed almost immediately.

Left that server and never went back.

Yeah lol, it’s great to win a map in those conditions. Especially when you hear “Dynamite planted”!

Planted at the Fuel Dump

Yay!!

Well I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets annoyed by this. I was beginning to think that I was getting whiny and stuff. In future I think I’ll just leave the server, although I feel bad doin’ that cause it feels like giving up or whatever. But I suppose, at the end of the day, I play this game for fun and to de-stress, and that kind of thing is just not fun. I played a few games last night on different servers and they were all well-balanced fun games, which was great and it restored my faith in ET and ET players. I’ll try some of the servers mentioned above some time soon, and if you see me, be nice, for I am a very delicate man lol

You are no fun when you take the game to seriously eRRoL - Pubs are like Secondary School, you are walking up the avenue, converse hi tops and fuzzy 15yr old beard, listening to the Pixies on yr skint Memorex walkman and all the knuckleheads come out of Woodwork class in their Shellsuits and start slagging you. “Grunger” You know you are better and will go far while they will end up boning meat in a slaughterhouse and drinking themselves into the grave with Buckfast. But you have to rise above it, 1 man cannot carry a team. Dont feel that its giving up jumping off a server, its you time being ‘wasted’ playing ET so it might as well be enjoyable. RAMBLING…

(eRRoLfLyNN) #24

lmao, cheers cap’n

(/\ndy) #25

i totally agree with you. i’m always willing to change teams if they are very unfair, i love playing the game (and don’t mind whether i’m playing as allies or axis either) and the most important thing in pubs imo is that a hard fought reasonably even game is MUCH more fun than a walkover (doesn’t matter whether you’re on the winning or losing team).
I get much more satisfaction from losing hard fought match than from walking through a map in a couple of minutes.

heh sock pretty sure that was me on the tram - joined server, ran and got flag, ran out the depot and tug was just sitting there for me  you left fairly soon after i got there but it was 7v10 the other way soon enough  Strange how teams doing the owning always keep players but suddenly lose them when things get turned around. I got called cheater by 3 clanned players for like an hour there the other day, eventually the admin was muting and threatening to kick them :frowning: Funnily enough they didnt seem to have been thinking this before i swapped to the other team and only got bothered when their team was no longer raping

“coward” players who just like to stick with the “ownage” team really annoy me, I can understand people not wanting to swap from a team theyre getting nice teamwork etc with but personally i find it boring when its easy like that, and of course its great when you swap teams and pull off a win or at least get an evenly matched game. Better yet when some coward is howling abuse and how great they are and then start crying or quit when things get matched up. Frustrating when you swap but people keep leaving though

eRRoLfLyNN dont be so put off by stopwatch servers, an “average” player will be fine and welcome on any kind of server, maybe theyd have a bit less fun on bio and efterlyst where the average level is way above the norm “intermediate”, but by nature there’s only a couple of “skilled” servers. Only thing to remember is everythings a lot faster and needs to be tighter on a stopwatch server, you dont have 20 mins to faff about so you need to decide what you’re doing and not be afraid to do it even if most likely you die trying - better to have a go and die to have another go in 20 seconds than sit about and waste the same amount of time anyway. Play a few times and youll pick up the pace - just a bit more of a gung-ho style really  Stats and XP score mean sod all too, as long as your contributing in some useful way towards getting the objective done then thats all that matters, ive seen players on railgun come out with like 20% kill:death but that was the guy who took the tram over, got flag, took tram back and fired the gun… or the other guy who hardly killed anybody but just sat behind a squad and kept them revived all the time. Any mortar player on battery will appreciate a covertops sniper even if he aint getting snipes in, he shows up the other team on the command map so you know where to spam.

The SW server in sig might be worth trying [UK-based], just grab etpro, caen and supplydepot and give it a bash when it gets busier (usually in the evenings when TFA are about to get it going). Normally about half of each team is regular there.

I try to stay as much as i can as i seen in the past that things will change as players leave and more “honurable” (not sure if that is the correct word) join up and the teams become more balanced. You usually can tell how the next map is prgressing when there has been a change

(SenF|Doddsy) #28

Great thread errol and know exactly what you mean. At SenF we have three servers that may interest you. We have a Custom Map server which has about 6 or 7 different custom maps (including mml_church, beach, venice, darji2 etc) aswell as a couple of campaigns that can be voted on. The Match server has a stopwatch campaign running on it most of the time. No XP save across rounds and of course everyone gets to attack aswell as defend makes for some (hopefully!) even play. This server shuts down during training or matches but is reopened to the public once finished. Finally our Public server has the standard campaigns running with a 6 map campaign available by vote (railgun replaced with tc_base on the 6 map). We like to keep the games as fair as is possible although as a rule we are unlikely to do a shuffle half way through a map as people tend to leave when that occurs. SenF players though tend to change sides where possible to try to keep a game balanced (although we cant always gurantee success of course!).
We do have the usual set of rules for the servers - No Cheating / Swearing / Spawncamping / Abuse - so if they sound like your cup of tea check out the ip’s at our website www.teamsenf.com (you can download the custom maps here too) or Highboy’s Home http://wolf.dehn.net

Have fun!

Edit! here are the ips

(evilsock) #29

Would they be the ‘mustard’ servers by any chance? I played on the standard pub one the other day and thought the standard was really very good

@ DG - if I’m on broadband I play as EvilSock, if not then I just play as Wolfplayer - never really had to change my et key so you’d know from an alias lookup

heh, maybe there should be an SD Forums ‘allstars’ battle one weekend - campaign, SW and king-of-the hill - the prize is being able to lord it over everyone in the forum for a week with a special sig?

(ElderNewb) #30

Yeah i’ve played on the Mustard servers before. After the first time i played in one of them it went straight into my favs folder in ASE. Always a good time guaranteed in there.

(eq-Shrike) #31

As BB said try the SD server … lots of friendly regulars and balanced teams. If the game is uneven a vote to XP shuffle is normally not always required as people are happy to switch teams to make for a closer game.

(G0-Gerbil) #32

Yay for the SENF servers - used to play there when I was in the UK, good guys, good server.
Can’t make it there now, but I’d happily recommend their servers to anyone.

The SENF server are soo good gerbil had to say it twice

(eRRoLfLyNN) #35

Hehe. I ‘member I was on there a couple of times and had nice games, very fast paced. But then Doddsy (I think it was Doddsy anyway) stab me wit’ his knife and it hurted me feelins somethin’ terrible. I have never got over it tbh :stuck_out_tongue:

(BondyBoy007) #36

Just played on SENF Match Play server and saw a perfect example of the axis owning the allies (i was axis for my sins) - mid game shuffles didn’t pass (understandable) and we had less players than them so I couldn’t swap. Next round I called an xp shuffle vote, 1st one didn’t pass but got the second one though with a “F1 for free porn” prompt so everyone was shuffled and teams looked even (I was now on allies for fuel dump)

But as soon as the teams had been re-arranged someone swapped back to their original side, I complained about this once saying that the xp shuffle was pointless if they swapped back (esp seeing as it was a senf guy) but to no avail. I contemplated leaving the server in disgust but stopped short when realising we (the only 2 clued up ppl on alllies) could nip in the base door and fook em up while they were busy spawn raping. . . .

Which we promptly did v57 v57 v53 v53 v57 v53 v55

*edited to remove the name of the swapper

(G0-Gerbil) #37

Odd, dunno why that posted twice
Stoooopid connection undoubtedly.

Anyway, ownage is fair when the other teams deserves it

(pentwo) #38

one time i ran away from this huge dod. i mean this thing wmust have been thhe siuze of denver or somehitng. anyway, i agree, cowardly players are the bane of my existance.

(mouse) #39

senf is prety good indeed, good setup and stable pings. Only the no-spawnkilling rule doesnt really work and is annoying…

(DG) #40

lol? i joined their server, shortly before map change.
warmup next map, senf guy goes spec, waits for someone to even team numbers, joins clanmates and all the other players with tags. XP about 1200 to 800.
they spend the next 20 mins spawnraping, someone made a sarcastic commentand just got “heh” from a senf guy.

top quality server and admins, must remember to add those to my faves.
or not.
