Container city map

Incorrect. CAN be done in six months… Very unlikely it will happen though.

Considering the game was due for release this side of Christmas I would have assumed all the maps are in fairly good state, unless they are the reason for the delay

Even if they were ‘finished’, any changes to the game as a result of refining the gameplay during this delay period could have undesired affects on the maps requiring them to be modified to rectify the problems.

However a map is never finished so they maybe using this time to further optimise the maps and try to perfect the gameplay of the maps and maybe making them look nicer.

So yeah they hopefully wont be making more maps in this time cause they should have enough on their hands making the existing maps as good as they can be.

(Apples) #83

I want moar maps! (and the history repeat itself again!)

(.Chris.) #84

Wish official maps

(meh cant use caps)

(Nikto) #85

i suspect the level designers would make sure all the maps that exist now are as good as they can get them, and perhaps think about new maps for different games or perhaps for the sequel. or some maps that they would release later as an update to keep the players happy ^^

(Cankor) #86

Maybe they started them back when they announced the delay, that was what 4 months ago or more? That could have been the point when they were working out the total time to play the game and figured out for a decent single player experience they were going to need more than (inserting arbitrary figures here) 14 maps to get a decent play length.

Like I said though, not really important. I bet the devs get a good laugh (or headache) sometimes over the stuff we can get fixated on.

I used to play Beach on RTCW all day long. As long as the maps are well made and enjoyable, you don’t need a laundry list worth of them to keep things interesting. Quality over quantity I say.

(Zanchile) #88

but quality and quantity is good too.

Hot DAMN! i love SD’s smileys.  :stuck_out_tongue:

(tokamak) #89

In a way quantity can be bad as it will take way longer for players to become familiar with the maps. In that way I rather see an expansion arrive much later.

(Kinjal) #90

Beach was awesome map, I still remember NAGA clan in demo, fighting them was fun as hell.

(Wraith) #91

It’s so true. Most games could have 100 maps but people will eventually just start playing the good/ ones they like.

Learning 100 maps would be too troublesome.

(Kinjal) #92

By the way, if u look at Ark overview on official site http://www.brinkthegame.com/ark/island/ , u can see the size of known maps, and predict how many maps may be in the end. I mean they surely planned 12 maps. Of course it’s not except sewers or sum thing else, but not for release I think. And yea, ETQW have 12 official maps too.

(Mad Hatter) #93

Hmm…if the rest of the maps are roughly the same size as the two shown on that page, we should get at least 15 to 16 maps. That’s if every single part of the Ark is used, of course, which I think is what we all hope for.

(Apples) #94

Still wondering how to implement a map on the big tower , clearly the upper guyz get an advantage, but it can be freaking epic tho…

Peace

(tokamak) #95

A completely vertical map would be amazing.

(Cankor) #96

Ever play Lighthouse in W:ET?

(H0RSE) #97

Awhile back, I heard Rahdo talking about Brink using vertical map design. I don’t know if he was talking about being completely vertical.

(madoule) #98

you’re saying, the map’s like a lighthouse staircase, being played “up and down”??

(light_sh4v0r) #99

Well I guess the big tower lends itself for that type of map. Let’s hope it’ll be available

(madoule) #100

would be something new. though i fear it’ll be easier for the team coming from the top. imo being on top gives the team leverage even tho i heard they made grenades a sorta skill that regenerates instead of carrying a certain amount.
