Console wars no...The real war is PC and consoles at war!

I have bit my tongue for a while but today I guess I just lost my goddamn mind. Im a console gamer, always have, always will be. I played a few games on the computer, I can. I just dont prefer too. When you have PC gamers choving it down your throat saying PC is better this and that, I say okay, maybe your right and I walk away. Thats one thing but to go as far as to say Im a retard and my mothers a whore for me loving a console was alittle too much. This was in person. The tension was mounting between me and this guy anyway. I tried my best to be nice but after those words this console guy knocked his ass out!

Now on to my point…I see even on here people say consoles are crap. Computers are better. I may agree that a computer version of a console game may be better but a console itself isnt crap. Like you we console gamers struggle. You struggle because you spend countless hours modyfying your system, putting money into it, making it perfect. Afterall she is your beauty she is your computer, she plays your games. She overclocks. Che never talks back and she neverr disses you. You put man hours after man hours into her with lots of blood sweat and tears with money just for that moment that one moment so you can play better games.

Have better graphics. Walk the edge. Its an accomplishment. I respect that and I understand. As for me its different. For us serious console game owners. We want what we cant have and thats a rig like yours so when it came (xbox 360 and the upcoming ps3) for once…FOR ONCE in our lives we felt like we could finally hang with big brother and get some respect. We know that you get all the cool shit, but we dont care as long as we can play too. Like you we do things with blood sweat and tears. We cant upgrade our computers for whatever reasons, serious cost, family. For me, Well…Im more medium living then so so. Which means I can barely afford to pay my bills, my internet, Im cutting corners, I take care of my mom who is dying Im 22. I worked for 7 months until the 360 came out saving my money from cutting grass, working, working odd jobs, settled in on a steddy job. Reading about it, all its games. Bought a controller.

Bought a membership for live. Bought a game. Bought my mom her meds and food for the table. My computer is old and cant be upgraded without serious dough. Im lucky enough to have to very low end of DSL. The point of this is Were both the same…I want Quake Wars to come out for the 360…Why? BEcause Im little brother. It may be watered down, it may be not as good looking and it may not feature mod making and it may not be fancy but you know what? I grew up poor I grew up not use to having the finer things in life. I thank the god above that I have what I what now. I respect you all. Please to the developers bring this to the 360. And please to the PC guys dont bash us console guys and kep up the great work making those mods. Some of you are more talented then you think.

The problem is that making QW a multiplatform game would almost certainly make it a worse game - everyone would be better off if they just did a seperate console version (like BF Modern Combat, for example).

Ok i have to admit, weve got one. But ok my sister bought a PS1 some time ago and i actually naver really played on it except on a holliday where we couldnt just take our whole pc with us.

Why consoles suck:

  • Its for noobs which dont know how to build a PC
  • Not upgradeable
  • You cant make your own CFG easy
  • Before HD TVs (XboX and PS2 and before) the display is just crap
  • Only for games, No MSN meanwhile, you cant burn a DVD etc etc.
    There are probably more things to mention.

Nope I am a PC gamer and am not planning to get any console in teh next 4 years at least. I do have plans to make my upcoming laptop being more a console. With Windows Vista Media Center and my wireless keyboard and mouse, plugging it on my pc, gaming in my bed when waking up could be sweet, but still its a PC :slight_smile:

I rspect your opinions. And I do agree the PC is a very beneficial system when it comes to games, exspecially games like Quake Wars. All Im saying is console guys, the little brother we want a taste of what you guys play ever day and please dont take this the wrong way but you guys have it so good some of you take it for granted.

Maybe I should go into more detail, PC gamers have modding tools the best graphics, and such. Some sorta take it for granted. While some of us console guys will get on our knees and beg just for a taste of what you guys play on a daily bases or even your leftovers and Im being serious! Anyway, I really do support the PC gamers on another front. If people remember the half-life mod Counter-strike? a mod of halflife using mod tools! Came to the xbox console. Wasnt the best port but hey we loved it and thought we were in heaven!

Now its up up to you guys to make a mod that make potential be the next big thing like desert combat or such, and come to the PC or the console so we can see your masterpiece. Think of it like that.

1: i have a xbox 360 and i DO know how to built a pc. i only have the 360 for the games that come out for it.
2: who cares? almost everyone with a console has a computer.
3: who cares?
4: but now there is hdtv.
5: we have 3 computers and a xbox360 so i don’t need to msn or burn cd’s/dvd’s with my console.

what i’m saying here is that consoles are only to play games with. not to upgrade or to burn cd’s with, etc.
i would like to play Gears of War, but i can’t play it on pc. that’s one of the many reasons i bought the 360.

I do but it was covered in about an inch of dust and never saw light this is now sold and used to upgrade my pc :slight_smile:

Tbh both are good. I went from consoles to PC and i would have a console if i could afford one or had the time to play it! I much prefer PC’s for the simple fact that i only play one game i.e. ET and it only on PC.

Im very happy that there is serious competition between pc’s and consoles because at the end of the day it will only benefit gamers as competition breeds innovation. A prime example of this is the Wii controller!

PC gamers dont want their games to be compromised just so they can more easily be made on console.

historically this has tended to be because the console doesnt have as much memory, so you get small areas and mid-level loading points. Or the control system is designed for a joypad. Or they dumb it down to appeal to the wider console market (there’s a big casual gamer market on consoles and it’s easy to see why that appeal’s to the publisher).

Nobody minds if consoles get great games, not at all. Nobody minds if consoles get great versions of PC games. What does annoy is how multi-platform games are often made for the lowest common denominator instead of making proper effort to optimise for each format and each market.

Regarding mods, devkits for consoles are very expensive. Also, console gamers are used to things that “just work”, something which is a major draw of the format. while PC gamers are used to tinkering, which many find a major draw of that format.

Suppose one good thing is, a console gamer knows every game he buys will run fine on his machine, none of this “WILL MY XBOX 360 RUN THIS GAME??!” nonsense threads.

Well used to soley be a PC gamer. Now I have kids so we also have an xbox and a gamecube. For certain games like racing, sports, and more arcady type games consoles are tons of fun. For FPS and RTS’s PC’s are the only way to go IMHO. Of course I say this because I can’t for the life of me get good control of FPS’s with a gamepad. I bought Halo 2 and returned it in a week. 1 because I couldn’t control it and 2 because it made me motion sick. Now give me the ability or probably anyone here to hook up a mouse and keyboard or even my ergodex keyboard and we’d destroy console FPS players.

With the release of Vista isn’t Microsoft trying to make it so that XBOX 360 players can play against PC players that have the same game? I wouldn’t mind that. More people for the community.
