Concerns/Solutions: a.k.a What we *DON'T* want in ET:QW.

(Giskard1708) #41

Oh and i had a thought about the problem of selfkilling that I read about somewhere. Each /kill should earn you a little bit of negative XP. Someone else i think said that it should have a delay and i think thats a great idea. People shouldnt be suiciding just to get back into the action with full health. I think it was intended for when you get stuck somewhere.

You know there is an edit button :stuck_out_tongue: Dont tell people to get lives please, it sounds so childish.

Oh please. Can those n00bs who have never played ET STFU about the usage of RG in ET compared to BF2’s noobtube?

PLEASE. STOP.

Thanks.

Saying the RG in ET is a noob-ownage, infantry-killing, should-be-anti-vehicles-only weapon is STUPID. RG in ET is for the skilled.

I v56 anyone who can predict flight-time and trajectory (or rebounce) for a great RG kill in ET anyday.

It is NOT the same for BF2.

Ok? Thanks.

Oh. Agree that this is another ‘make QW like ET’ thread. Jeez… Move on already. Go play ET some more if you do not like QW/futuristc stuff. ET is free, you know.

What I believe we don’t need: people that assume they know what’s best for the game because they’ve put so many hours into et and they’re so pro and leet omg.

Splash Damage has all the experience in playing that people need and then some. I guess that they take suggestions positively, they’ve shown it on the forums, but it’s funny when people demand the game should be fit to their needs. There’s a lot you can’t know in advance until competitive, public play starts happening and really annoying people start to play (ie, the heli rape of BF2) so nobody can know in advance what should or what shouldn’t be nerfed. Specially when you’re not on the development team.

Really, I can’t help but have a laugh of people who think they have the magical recipe for the perfect multiplayer game. These are people who think the world revolve around them and that their opinion is the golden truth and still hasn’t grown out of that kid’s point of view of the world. They are 100% sure they know what’s best, and by doing so they’re automatically wrong.

(Apocalypse) #45

You post like this is exactly what turns regular ET players off and you into a flame-bait.

Ever heard of ETpro? Like what most ET players play? Endorsed by SD mod?

Well, there is something called sticky-charge. Go read more, you will know what I mean.

Oh BTW, health in ET means NOTHING. Health and ammo racks and medics are aplenty. People do not /kill for health.

(SubstandardJones) #46

First off, let’s understand that I’ve never played BF2 because BF1942 was crap on toast, and I prefer good games like ET to crap on toast.

But cheering someone for getting a rifle grenade kill is high foolishness. Rifle grenades are a twitch-based weapon whose use relegated almost entirely to random dummards who don’t know how to play. Rifle grenades are THE weapon of choice to pick up the first time you play, because they give you the illusion of actually being decent with it.

The few times someone actually manages to PLAN a kill with a rifle grenade hardly makes up for the thousands of times it’s used as a purely startled reaction that winds up randomly blowing up someone in the vicinity of the blast. Could be the guy firing it, could be the guy he was startled by, could be a guy in the back of the room.

I’ll repeat the idea that rifle grenades would be great if they had a timer-charge on them. A four-second fuse just like a regular grenade, but with the ability to launch them fast from the rifle. That would be wonderful. The way rifle grenades work currently simply mean they’re a weapon used by new and bad players to make themselves feel good (kind of like adrenaline.)

(Apocalypse) #47

I supposed you are the uber SMGer that is pure ownage. Congrats. Just out of curiousity, what then would make you cheer? Funny cos, twitchy tards who uses RG in ET kills themselves when they kill you. I never said I cheer for ALL RG kills. Get off your imaginery high horse.

(SubstandardJones) #48

Man, I’m so sick of all these people talking smack about Mr. Cloppers. You, my parents, my psychologist, why don’t you all get off my back? He’s an invisible horse that grants me wishes, why are you so threatened by that? Can’t you just let me be happy for once in my life?

Things I cheer for:

[ul]
90 degree mortar kills
Killing an adrenaline medic with an SMG when you are NOT a medic yourself.
Satchel kills
Perfectly timed multiple grenade kills
A panzerfauster who actually kills more than two guys per shot
A medic who revives first and fights second
Trickjumping
Winning the map
Killing two medics by yourself when you’re not a medic yourself
Jumping on the tank gun as an axis and holding off the entire allied assault due to that wonderful, wonderful gun
Getting an enemy to give you health/ammo as a covert in disguise
Playing an entire game with just a knife and getting more kills than at least three other people on the team
Tree catapults
Peace on earth
Good will towards women
Good Will Hunting (I get choked up every time during the scene where he gets out of his wheelchair for the first time.)[/ul]

And finally…

  • Maintaining a really good rhyme-fight whie playing.

(Apocalypse) #49

LOL. Have fun. XD

You, Sir, have problems bigger than I care. Funny you mentioned cheering a panzer with greater than 2 kills and yet you mock me on my cheering of certain RG kills.

Tsk, tsk.

(SubstandardJones) #50

Panzerfauster with more than two kills PER SHOT, pal o’ mine. That’s a major distinction. I routlinely mock any panzerfaust with less than 100% accuracy.

Cheer the rare and usually useless “good” rifle grenade kill all you like, however. Your polite tones and professional manner have turned the tides of my heart, and won my respect and admiration! Huzzah and huzzah again! Huzzah a hundred-fold!

(Apocalypse) #51

Sigh. I know its PER SHOT.

Whatever dude, you were the one trying to pick the bone in the egg in the first place. No matter how anal your argument was, I forgive you.

(B0rsuk) #52

Rifle grenades require a lot of skill compared to pansierfaust. Pansierfaust simply hits where you aim it and no two ways around it. Rifle grenades often miss, at least other players often miss me. It can be good in tight corridors but is very tricky to use in open, and BAD at short range. (unless in said tight corridor/small room). Grenades bounce, there’s pretty much no trail so it’s quite hard to make corrections. There’s gravity, there’s delay before arming, and explosion is smaller than with pansierfaust.

Somehow I don’t see everyone running with rifle grenades. I see, as usual dominance of SMGs. And I often play with players who care about nothing but their K/D ratio to the point where they try to kick me/restart map if I plant a dynamite at objective. So if rifle grenades were overpowered they would use them all the time. They don’t.
Anything that prevents 100% players of running with just SMGs is good.

The only change I would like to see is -3 experience per suicide with explosive weapon. The change would mean low-skilled kamikaze players don’t earn experience for blowing themselves up with only 1 victim. You’d have to kill more than 1 (if we’re talking about suicide) to actually earn exp.

Rest assured there WILL be Wolf mods for ET:QW, complete with sten able to shoot only 7 bullets before overheating, RTCW rate of fire/damage for smgs, and other garbage.

(Hakka) #53

I would LOVE some sort of penalty against the idiots who suicide panz/suicide r. nade. Nothing irritates me more than to whip around a corner into the face of some noob toting a panzer, headshot him twice, only to be vaporized along with him before I finish the job.

Negative experience would work - but suicide and killing 2+ people is acceptable, so a penalty of -3 xp would be perfect. Come out even if you suicide against one guy (and probably negative against me because you better believe I’ll /kill if I hear that stupid panz sound and you’re not dying quickly), but positive for two or more.

Rifle naders do piss me off, but 9 times out of 10 they’re the types who don’t even know how to strafe, so they’re dead before they can even react anyhow. And btw Apoc, killing 2 people with the panzer on a frequent (read: frequent, as in over 50% of your total shots) is more difficult than 1 with an r nade. Only the former will gain my respect, and even then I’d ask him to pick up an MP-40 or Thompson

(Apocalypse) #54

Didn’t I said whatever?

Did I said I cheer ALL RG kills!!! READ please. I clearly said, trajectory, timing and rebounced, well placed RG are difficult and required skills and therefore my cheers.

Since when is killing more than 1 per panzer per shot(which is much more powerful than RG, and not to mention soldiers are meant to kill)(also isn’t that why heavy weapon kills do not account for much XP) difficult? Huh?

(SniperSteve) #55

What I am concerned about: No sprinting & gunning in ET:QW…

It will make it be like AA. Which is awfull…

(HellToupee) #56

the RG is quite easy to use, with long range shots it needs a little bit of aim but medium to close u just aim at them hit them and most of the time it drops to their feet and blows up straight away. Tho once some guy tried to shoot me in the back with a nade it hit me rebounded and blew the silly rger away.

The issue with the rger is it was one shot kill capable, less warning before u get vaporised and msot of all the fact if he misses its no biggy because straight away with no delay he can fireaway with the rifle. Panza was such that his weapon untill xp and level 4 is his only primary weapon, where RG is a powerful gun and the closest thing to the panza combined.

(Approx01) #57

for the sake of gameplay, make a “quick action” button. aside from the “use/activate” key and melee key, a “quick action” button would help the game a lot. this way a person wouldn’t have to change weapons or w/e to use a common feat for their class. a medic’s quick action would be to heal an ally, engineer/constructor action would be to repair, a ranger’s action would be to disable w/e. A class that has a choice depending on what’s available to use like a field ops person, could have a small menu pop up after you hit the quick action key. then you could just hit the number assigned to what you want to do. you could also go into your multiplayer options and select what you want your quick action key to activate for each class of each race. the default key tho, i think Alt would work fine

(kamikazee) #58

Ehr… If the class’ special weapon is bound to weapon bank is bound to bank 5, you’d allways have it when pressing 5. No quick action needed.
And afaik there’s no melee action in ET, just the knife.

(Approx01) #59

no no

i mean if you were a medic you would be able to go up to someone and hit your quick action key to instantly do w/e to heal someone and then it would instantly switch back to w/e you had out previously so there’s less hastle. if i was fighting someone with #7 or something and i had to heal someone or myself really fast, it would be a real pain to stretch to hit #7 again. not to mention it could get you killed

is there a melee weapon or do you just bash with your weapon in quakewars?

(kamikazee) #60

Ever played W:ET? If not, try it as long it’s free.

(Not that they will charge for it later, but it’s now for free)
