thx for the update. anyway “additional fixes” is that perhaps the name hack implented? Would be awesome.

Fixed an Exploit that allowed players to alter their strafe speed.

I hope that doesn’t mean the spring + crouch + jump that makes you fling forward a little bit O-O
As far as I know that’s not a bug, instead it’s an actual feature of the game.
That´s a “long jump” yes…
OK, I’ve seen someone saying AV doesn’t like the newest update (AVG).
I’ve tried to play it today, but my AV (AVAST) also said there’s virus and game stopped loading.
I would like to know whats happening.
EDIT: Of coure it’s that stupid XIGNCODE

Attention Dirty Bomb players,
The following changes will be made during the August 10th Hotfix Maintenance:
Fixed an Exploit that allowed players to rapidly gain XP with Aura’s Healing Station.
Fixed an Exploit that allowed players to illegitimately warp to custom locations.
Fixed an Exploit that allowed players to alter their strafe speed.
Additional fixes for some other exploits have been applied.
Thank you for your patience.

Can I ask why a sentence like this in the patch notes? What exploits, what fixes? Why not just say those? Unless ofcourse they aren’t actually fixed and can still be abused and you dont want people to know it? Or it’s there just to make the patch look like it has more than it actually does
I would imagine the other exploits that she is mentioning are ones that they do not wish to explicitly talk about. Perhaps because it would enable cheat makers to work faster, if they indicated that they had fixed holes in the software that they abuse.

I don’t think XIGNCODE will be around for much longer.
I hope it will get out as soon as possible. But for now, I can’t play DB.
It always detects these files. And if I restore them and scan inside folder, there is no issue.
They are doing something when starting DB (loading) and It seems av doesn’t like that since this update.
And since I know XIGNCODE and how it behave, I’m not going to add it to false positive or something similiar. I don’t trust it.

Wow, I was sure I was imagining that one time. Skyhammers don’t strafe like Proxy.
Who the hell uses AVAST anyway?
@Lumi And why I shouldn’t use it? If AVG detects it too, there is something wrong. I’m not gonna lie, I hate your response. If you have nothing to say, don’t response like this. I also don’t care about software you use.
Is that all for a 700MB update?! o.O
@random Every DB update is huge for some reason…maybe because of engine or something.
Anyways I’m gonna send those files to AVAST. Because I don’t think I’ll find some help with people like @Lumi around.
The updates are large because rather than modify the existing files they outright replace them. Most of the game files are in large ‘containers’. These containers have some fairly big files sizes. Entire containers are replaced during a patch. So something that seems smalls will still have a large download size.
This method is a ‘cleaner’ way to do patches and leaves less chance for errors during the update. This has a cost of more bandwidth for an overall more reliable patching process.
I believe it has been mentioned that SD is looking into breaking it up into smaller pieces, but I heard that awhile ago. Not a high priority.
How about this then. IF you use a free AV then don’t complain. They’re free for a reason: because they perform worse than paid ones. Paid AV make sure that they have a symbiotic relation with most content creators in order to avoid problems as these. If your AV sucks, then change it. The main program here after all is the game, AV are background processes. Those are the ones who need to adjust, not the main program.

Thank you for your input, but I use paid version - Avast Pro Antivirus.

Well then I would complain to Avast about it and not here.

XIGNCODE is the one that doesn’t work AND scans your files. It has access to…basically everything. Thats why I don’t trust it and since it worked before, there is something wrong. Thats why I asked here. But I’m going to and of course share their response.

If you don’t trust it, then don’t use. don’t play the game. Nobody forces you to.

Only people that trust this soft are hackers, because they know It doesn’t work.
And of course I can’t play DB without it.
And I think you should calm down. Your behavior isn’t friendly at all.
Nobody forced you to reply too. I was just asking, because reply from somebody working on this game should be faster than random support ticket on AV.
I’ve changed my mind about DB community thanks to you. But silly me, there is always somebody that isn’t helpful at all, just making others persons dumb.
Anyways, I’m also gonna visit Splash Damage forums, I hope I won’t see your response there.
Have nice day.
KyeongNam;63768"]You guys should check out the REVIVR gun. It is still buggy (or it seems so).
I mean, I’m literally using the iron sight trying to revive a teammate and I was aiming right in the middle of his body but the laser beam seemed to only go through him.
I’ve noticed huge problems with this as well. I’m not certain if it’s the gun or how the bodies drop when people get knocked out - either way it’s annoying.

o.O How? In the end if you only change small bits, most of the packages’ content stays the same, so you basically overwrite stuff with itself.
Btw guys, if a program really needs to behave like a virus, then this isnt the AVs fault. Its the programs fault for being poorly designed. AV algorithms are generally thought out pretty well.
