What, the big “FAKE? — YES” button didn’t ring any bells?
Competition for Brink?
Ah, I see.
In case you’re interested, this teaser video is the only official information about the Engineer Update released so far.
[QUOTE=DarkangelUK;224775]I guess there’s no CoD respite for Brink this fall, as it has just been announced that Treyarchs latest itteration of the series hits stores in November of this year. Call of Duty: Black Ops is its official branding with little more information than that on offer at the moment.
Regardless of your thoughts of the CoD series, they always sell BIG… with the small bit of silver lining being that Treyarchs creations have always been the weaker of the releases. Think this could spell a little trouble for Brink sales?
I dont know if you know this or not, but call of duty is dead. The main guys and half of the developers went over to EA on a contract under their new name “respawn whatever”… They wont make anymore call of duties, unless its by Treyarch and everyone knows their games are ****. cod3 / waw. With out a good version to back it up from the main dev’s … cod will fall. Halo’s company merged with them bungie or whatever… Halo will be worked on more now. If brink does a great job on a final release, unlike that crap quakewars they will be able to push it and market it enough to have a solid future. Bad company 2 was crap out of the box and its still glitched and unbalanced to hell. so brink ha a chance to take over where cod left off as far as an upcoming series… Peace
Aren’t you sick of the whole WWII shooter’s yet? They make up about half of all shooter’s out today… I think that era has had Enough play time.

Think of all the big title FPS games released…a majority of them or either modern times or future based. Everyone says that WWII shooters are done to death, but they are just complaining because they like “newer” themed games. The amount of modern based and future based shooters easily outweighs them 10 to 1.
Shooters set during WWII differentiate from the other settings you’ve outlined in that it’s the same battles being fought by the same armies with the same weapons over and over again.
Shooting nazis with a Thommy ain’t just what it used to be back in the day.

Kinda like playing ET or QW with the same maps and same weapons over and over again? Modern shooters are all the same also, don’t try to make it seem like WWII games are a dime a dozen, and modern/futuristic shooters are a breath of fresh air. It’s always the same scenario: stop bad guy from world domination, stop bad guy from blowing up country/world, stop bad guy from releasing top secret virus, rescue hostages from bad guy, etc. Don’t make it seem like WWII games are “played out,” and newer shooters breathe life into the genre with every release. At least WWII are based off of history.
It’s precisely because WWII games are based off of history that it’s passe; there’s no suspense in the narrative. Games set in modern times have the privilege of not only taking the player to unexpected places, but also use a plethora of different weapons and equipment. And of course generic shooters will have generic plots, regardless of which timeframe they’re set in.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a WWI game. But I guess you’ll need to respawn a lot and it becomes repetitive.

Yeah, because the old COD and MOH games were totally boring…you’re an idiot.
He meant that since WWII shooters seem to focus on the war as a plot, the suspence is gone because we know where it’s going to end up.
However, I felt World at War slightly succeeded where a lot of WWII shooters failed in that its campaign focused a bit mroe on the character’s and their stories instead of jsut the war.
But the gameplay was stale, as with most shooters. I think this is where Brink is going to shine.
Love that we can’t have a civilized discussion without you getting temp. banned for disruptive behavior. And for the record, we were strictly talking about the setting and narrative; stop using logical fallacies to try and prove your point.

that’s problem with forums - “civil” is taken to the extreme. I have civil discussions/debates all the time with people, and I use much more colorful words than “idiot.”
No offense, but you should be the last person on this forum calling people idiots.
