Changes we'd like to see in the upcoming patch!

Hi guys!

I’d like to see the locations of my teammates not in coordinates any more. That would be some nice piece of improvement. I’m missing the good old ‘upper base’ or ‘forward bunker’.

Now you talk with new guys in voice-comm like this: ‘hey…i’m at that plateau next to the hill where theres that small entrance behind the big stone they always come through after completing their first objective’.

Of course you have changed it to the the coordinates stuff with a good idea in mind, but i’m missing that good ole simple location names.

Id like to see:

  1. Disable file complaint from mines

  2. XP shuffle - switches players round but carries on mabe a 10 sec pause time but XP and mission time left are continued

The M1 Garand clip couldn’t be refilled during mid clip - you had to fire off any remaing rounds and then the clip would be released.

Now the K98 - im not sure about it might have been possible to add more rounds like modern-day clip weapons

Thought so…but still, grenades dont instagib in real life either, so why choose the realism of non reloading over balancing the game?

Is’n there a list of “known issues” that will be fixed in the new patch for sure?

Okay, here’s my input: (bolt are complaints more people are having)

* no ‘file complaint’ option when tripping over landmines.

  • recharge of field ops should be increased. with two field ops you can pretty much airstrike on and on and on… making it impossible for enemies to get past
  • panzerfaust doing massive damage even through walls
    [b]* message size. sometimes 1/3 of my screen is filled with messages making it impossible to see anything
  • name displaying with friendly covert ops. like mentioned before sometimes the name of a friendly covert doesn’t show so i think it’s an enemy.[/b]
  • blocking of voice/text. i really hate all those ‘hello’ and ‘sehr gut’ shit. can’t it be split up into 1. all voices 2. only useful voice (like ‘we need an engineer’ and ‘watch out enemy covert ops’ and that stuff and 3. no voice at all. if this has to be edited in a file manually i wouldn’t mind.
  • i’d rather see voice chat totally disabled when the round is over. a lot of n00bs flood cos others can’t kick them during that time.
    [b]* low ping bug. I get when connecting to a server the message ‘for low pings only’ about 50% of the times, while my ping is always low. when i press reconnect it always does connect the second time. but since my ping is fine it shouldn’t say my ping is too high the first time anyway
  • ping 1; what is this about? i don’t know if it’s because ping can’t be determined correctly or if the server is down completely, in either case i’d like the ping 1 servers at the bottom when sorting.[/b]
  • long disconnect times. i play some Q3 (and ofcourse it’s more or less the same engine) but when i disconnect with q3 after 1 second i’m in the menu again. when i disconnect with ET or the server is full or whatever it takes about 5 seconds to get back in the menu. why is this?! i really hate it cos i wanna connect to server and start playing and not wait for the menu to pop up.
    * when you’re an engineer and you place a landmine you’re weapon switches to the plyers. when you place dynamite it does not. (atleast not here). i’d like to see this fixed too.
  • voting flood protection. sometimes when a noob wants somebody kicked the vote vails, but he just keeps on voting sometimes 8-9 times in a row just to push his will. 1 vote every 5 minutes per person should be enough.
  • battery: the ramp is destroyable with that explosive pack. i would like to see it only being destroyable with dynamite.
  • ‘weapon jam’ during the first 1 or 2 seconds of spawning. i see it a lot of times that some noobhead fires his panzerfaust cos he’s been pushing the firebutton 42310987 times when almost spawning.
  • voice message binding. i only use need ammo and need a medic voice chat. i’d like to bind it to a key so i can quickly voice chat

added new bug

  • I have mm keys on my keyboard. the bug is about the volume controls.
    When i press the volume down button my character ducks. yes, the volume also goes down, but the ducking is annoying cos when you are running and i press the volume down button i go in prone mode.
    I don’t know much about the keyboard (got it from someone else) but it’s a HP. i use win2k and have no special drivers installed for the keyboard (the volume buttons work standard in win2k)

Ok, just wanted to update this and streamline it a bit. (just in case splash damage is actually paying any attention to this thread)

I figured I’d post what would be reasonable “fixes” or changes we’d like to see. So I’m leaving out the ones that seem to me to be more like personal prefference types of things (like changing movement or how weapons work etc.)

  1. Selectable spawn points.
    seems like no matter how much you click on an alternative spawn point at the start of a map, you almost always spawn at the default spawn point.

  2. XP shuffle.
    should work so that it switches the teams at that point in the round, not reset it.

  3. Landmine TK thing.
    Not as sure this one is as agreeable as the other two or if it can be done but, stepping on a landmine not being registered as a TK. And, therefore not a compailt-able thing.

  4. Medic revive.
    I’m even more sure that this one isn’t as agreeable as the first two but… I think as more ppl have had time to play more and get revived more they’ve encountered the weirdness that comes from this. It would be nice if this was done the same way that it was in reg RTCW MP. Or at least be able to free look while waiting for the invulnerability/imobility period to wear off.

Those are the main ones that I think most of us can agree need to be changed (exceptions possibly to the last two).

Simple suggestion.

Put blue exclamation marks back in compass, instead of new white circles. When a teammate makes a request/statement Id rather see the same blue exclaimation mark that appears over their head.

I also wouldnt mind a stretched compass across top of screen ala americas army, w/ objectives marked so n00bs know which direction to head, or anyome who is easliy disoriented.

Most of these are pretty good ideas. I even learned a couple things!

I want weapon changes. While I know I will never see them, these are my thoughts. They stood in RTCW too, so its not just an ET thing:

  1. Love the MG42. but they need more ammo to start. Venom got what, 500? MG42 gets 150? mg42s are made for camping, and when you only got 150 shots, its a short trip sometimes. but a good LT takes care of that.

2)SHOTGUN! I want a shotgun! It was there in rtcw SP. I’d even be willing to trade the flame for a shotgun. Both are best indoors and in close combat. Maybe give the med the shotgun for close combat instead. But I’d love to be able to sit somewhere and wait for them to pass, then BLAM!! BLAM!! two slugs in yo back, beeeyotch!

  1. Kicking. In rtcw sp, you could kick shit with your boot. Yeah, I know. its useless. But it could be fun as hell to just kick some foo for being annoying instead of wasting a round or taking the time to knife. And plus, think of what a team could do to a bad player? Some jerk on your squad needs a beating. So, you get your fire team together and corner his ass in the parking lot and kick the crap outta him, LAPD style! That would be friggin hillarious to watch.

nobody posted it so far: the instant-death thing (or did I miss something and it isn’t considered a bug?)

In at least 50% i’m completely dead before hitting the ground without tapping out or beeing shot at (or maybe just a stray bullet). It seems that sometimes player are verry fragile while laying on the ground and a single shot can kill them entirely while in RtCW some effort was needed to completely finish the guy on the ground.

This is especially critical on limited lifes server.

Bug:
While a vote is in progress it is impossible to file a complaint, some TKers use that minute the vote takes to kill as much as possible as they are essentially untouchable.

Solution:
Make the complaint prompt override the callvote prompt. A vote can be on the screen a long time, complaint prompts dissapear immediately after pressing F1/F2.

I’d like to see it made easier for field ops and medics to give health/ammo packs to teammates. Half the time, when a teammate is close to me, I end up picking up the ammo/health accidently.

  1. When you get TKd, you get a message of what you were TKd by as well as who.

  2. When placing objects, dynamite, satchel charges, etc. always switch to the item used on it. i.e. detonator and pliers. I’ve had problems on both being random.

  3. Let the allies be able to permanately take the west bunker in Seawall Battery. Whether it be the first time or after destroying the generator. I have concluded that this level is just about impossible for the allies unless the Axis team has at least one person that is dumb or a traitor. If the allies are better than the Axis team, then they should win, but it should be possible if they are even.

  4. More levels! Especially make more where the Axis are the attackers. I say this because the allies objective is to beat the clock in all but one level. One problem, if they beat the clock, they will get less experience than the Axis, who is to let the clock run out. If you don’t know what I mean, say so and I’ll try to go more in-depth.

  5. One way to fix the Covert Ops is to make it appear to their teammates that their uniform didn’t change. The one problem I see with this is that other teammates may fight with them not knowing that they are giving away their friend’s position, but that already happens with me.

And so they should get more XP. In all maps except railgun, the only way for the axis to win is to hold off the allies for a full 30 minutes. Whereas the allies can sometimes win in 5 or 10 minutes.

I’d say that the axis deserve more XP if they manage to hold off the allies for all of that time.

Instead of the suggested change for adrenaline needle to secondary fire needle, I think it would be better to put it in weaponbank 7. That way, you can change from any weapon to any needle with one key.
You don’t need the binoculars in bank 7 anyway, as there is the much better binocular key.

I have encountered a bug when viewing a demo from external sideview, and then playing online, freelook spectator was also from sideview and when dead and waiting for a medic. Also, the menu timescale functions are not working, or at least not with me :???:

I also want the nameplaces back like in RTCW, the coordinates are imho pretty useless.

And maybe prohibiting to plant from the wall at oasis guns.

There’s also something weird when planting behind the railgun controls. You need 3 dynamites for it unless it has been previously destroyed. Not all that important, just curious what’s causing it :slight_smile:
