Changes we'd like to see in the upcoming patch!

(Gump) #1

I have a few minor things I’d like to see changed in the upcoming patch (if there is one), and figured it would be worthwile to start a thread so people can chime in with minor things they’d like to see changed. Please don’t suggest anything stupid or that would require a massive overhaul of some aspect of the games, we need a doable list.

I’ll start off with two:

  1. Make the level 4 medic self injection needle the alt-weap function of the regular needle.

  2. Tie the level 4 heavy weapons smg sidearm to weaponbank 2, the same place the pistol would be.

The way they are now they play havoc with my key settings.

I’d like to see spawn points selectable at game start. For example, on Radar, I don’t always want to start in the forward bunker

(Coolhand) #3

The most important fix I would like to see is the disorientation problem on revive:

Server-side cvars for either disabling Experience Points or allowing Admins to set the points at which each level is awarded. I’d have thought this would be perfectly do-able as the points values must currently be held in variables within the game code, so exposing these variables to Server Admins shouldn’t be too difficult.

I know EXP is one of E.T.'s biggest benefits, on public servers, but it adds nothing to Clan games, and could even prove an obstacle to Clans adopting E.T., which in turn will limit it’s long term success. I’m not suggesting doing away with EXP, just give Server Admins the option of having it enabled or disabled.

Also, remove complaint option for TK by Landmine.

er… it is already there!

go to the limbo menu
look for the flags in there (they have little "troops: " and a number under them)

click on the one where you want to spawn next time (the “troops” will be incremented by one to show how many people are spawning there now)

and that’s all

it is always annoying to see all those people running from the beach on the battery when the west bunker was already taken

(Formaldehyde) #6

I agree. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ended up with the wrong needle.

I think Iffy means consistent spawnpoint numbers so that he can write a reliable spawn point script. Having a spawn point script is standard for a RTCW Clan player and it’s a pain not to be able to do it in E.T.

(Coolhand) #8

I thought Ifurita was referring to the problem where on some maps you still start at one spawn point even if you have selected another before the game starts. For example on Battery, where although you can select the right-hand side beach spawn (as Allies) before the start you still start at the default one, and have to select the other one again.

… if he wasn’t referring to that, I am, it’s a nuisance

(Kendle) #9

No, you’re probably right, or maybe we both are. I know spawnpoint scripts are a bit of a non-starter at the moment as well, but I think I’m also getting my threads confused here. Need to go home and chill out with a few games of E.T.

(Gump) #10

I forgot one:

The first shot with a rifle should always be dead-on (i.e. hit the exact spot the crosshairs are pointed to) like all other weapons. It is a rifle afterall, how could an smg possibly be more accurate.

(Ifurita) #11

Coolhand is right. I meant being able to select different spawn points at GAME START. e.g.,

Axis rear spawn on Radar
West beach on Batter
Fuel Dump on Fuel Dump
etc

Kendle, you might have been referring to my original post before I edited it. I figured out the setspawnpt assignments for Axis rear spawn (Radar) and Allied CP (Battery)

woo hoo - spawn point script is complete now

(SilverET) #12

http://www.rtcwonline.com/dummies look under scripts and there is a spawn point script and class script i have those

the revive disorientation is not a bug. it works in the exact same way as vanilla wolf.

and I disagree on the weaponbank 2 for a level 4 soldier. They already have an advantage enough that they get an SMG, a weapon equivalent to everyone else, plus a heavy weapon. It should stay in the 3rd bank for a bit of confusion as a minor balancing factor.

definitely fix that needle thing though, that’s annoying. makes level 3 medic better than level 4. I don’t use self adrenaline very often either since med pack demands are high.

in the ET test, you could choose to spawn back in the Axis base in warm-up, and you’d spawn there on your first spawn. in the official release, if you chose to a spawn point in the warm-up, you would not always get that spawn point on your first spawn.

Put the vsay “onmyway” back in. I recommend scrapping voicechat V12 (which is vsay_team “enemyweakened”) since it is a voicechat that is hardly used. or it could be put in voicechat bank 4 (talk). also, i hardly see anyone use voicechat V46 (vsay_team “oops”)

not sure if it would be too pain in the ass to do, but modifying some of the spawn points would be nice. Like Railgun, put more and/or bigger doors in the cabin the Axis spawn out of. Same with Oasis in the Old City spawn.

(Coolhand) #14

I’ve given you my reasoning why I believe this to be a bug (see thread previously referenced). Where’s your proof it isn’t a bug?

And, no, it most certainly does not work the same way in vanilla Wolf. I wish it would be changed so that it does! We must be talking about different things - please feel free to discuss this further in that thread, I would like to hear your views.

(ocr.D-Link*CptMeat) #15

An option to disable XP System would be most likely!

(Coolhand) #16

I’ve just been kicked off a server for inactivity (playing defence at the Battery Gun controls… took out one engy who was planting - hope my teammates hold the fort without me!). I would like to see one small change: allow mouse movement as “activity” for the purpose of the inactivity timout.

(amazinglarry) #17

Well… I don’t know about that… sort of a lose lose situation…

If you got an a-hole on the team who’s running over landmines on purpose only to complain you… then I can see where you’re comin from and I agree…

But if we got this same a-hole who realizes he can no longer complain for running over your landmines… (thus dying and not really playing anyways) than what’s to stop him from planting landmines outside of the spawn and just CONSTANTLY Teamkilling, and the team can’t do anything about it besides call a vote?

(amazinglarry) #18

I’m with Coolhand 100% on this one.

It most certainly does not work the same way in vWolf.

In vWolf what happens when you’re raised is you’re just unable to look in any direction but the one you’re facing, so making any mouse movement won’t really affect what way you’re ultimately looking after the 3 seconds are up. You can of course, move away, but still be looking in one direction, and once the 3 seconds wears off you’re free to look anywhere you want without being jarred into some weird direction… thus being “disoriented”

In ET, if you make any mouse movement as you’re raised… when the 3 seconds are up you’re facing some seemingly random funky direction, although it’s really all based on how hard you moved the mouse and which direction.

So the difference here would be… vWolf = move mouse, still look in same direction as raised. ET = move mouse, good luck in knowing where you are.

Seriously… execute this friggen banana!

(Kendle) #19

Thanks for clearing that up, thought I was going mad!

How many spawns only have one exit? (don’t actually know the answer from memory, just asking) What about another Engy defusing the TK’ing Engy’s mines? , i.e. how likely is it that a TK’ing Engy could trap his entire team in spawn with mines? Maybe just a re-wording of the message then, like “You’ve just stepped on so-and-so’s Mine” as opposed to “You’ve been killed by Teammate so-and-so”.

(Coolhand) #20

I believe that Reyalp suggested that some time ago, and I agree that it would be a simple change that could improve matters.
