Ok something got me thinking if some 1 bought a game eg:ETQW copyed an image of disc and the cd-key and then took it back and the company accepted it back wot happnes to that disc thrown or took back for repackaging if some 1 else bought the game the CD-key wouldnt work online cause already been used?
Just wondering wot happend to the game when u take back as ive taken back a couple of opened games and got full refund?

It is the policy of most game shops not to refund PC games for this reason, they’ll replace a faulty disc but you keep the same key. If in your case you did return it and someone else got it, for proof of purchase get a replacement key.Tbh I’m not liking the influx of piracy topics here.
not that i did it just that i uses images and virtual drives on my comp so no need for CD just thought if u bought it and couldnt play it with out buying new cd key would be annoying
afaik, returning an opened game for anything other than replacement would be difficult
Speaking of no need for CD, will QW require the disc to be in drive to launch, or will it be like RTCW. The thing that bugged me about Doom3 was the need for the disc to play or even to use the editor IIRC
never really got round to looking if this is legal but just use a program called alcohol 120% to make an image of the CD then this program daemon tools to make virtual drives and mount the CD image and u can play with no CD
is it legal cause in reality ur making copys of the game?

I don’t think there is anything illegal about making an image of something you own to get better loading times. If you buy the game, make an image and then sell it because you have “no need for CD” then you are pirating it since when you sell it you no longer have a license for that software.
If there is any anti-copy-solution on the disk, then in many countries it is illegal to circumvent it, even if you are making a backup-disk/image as you are allowed to by law [in many countries].
It’s two laws colliding and it’s uncertain wich has leadway…
Mentioning ETQW, online CD-key, and “refunds”, and that you’ve done it before with SP-games and succeded, and you more or less imply you want to “refund” your future ETQW game and you come into this SD forum and “just wonder if it will work”, all in one singe post, might not be so well thought through.

lol i wount be doing it i have plenty of money no need to take back lol and where have i said ive done it before i said ive taken games back before not copyed them i was just wondering wot would happen i make copys of my games for the virtual drives/no cd but still have the CD incase comp crashes so on, yeh i could burn to CD but wots point developers need the money to carry on making games for our delight
