because you say this that way, some (myself included) think you do it
CD-Key
why would i do it when i can afford it anyway i earn Ā£30 an hour and im 22 living with 3 people i only cost me Ā£80 a week for all bills so why/what would be my reason 4 doin it
why would you even think about it or ask questions about it then? you already brought some games back as you wrote in your first post. thatās why i donāt understand that you donāt understand that some people are sceptic
lol ive taken games back cause i have a laptop at moment carnt be arsed buyin new comp till it comes out buyin new bike first and they didnt work on it but i remember thay had cd keys so just asked
Aside from the obvious inferences people are making, there is an important point here.
Some people did get caught out like this with RtCW, they bought the game only to find the key was already banned.
It would be nice to think there was a system whereby retailers could return the key to the publisher and have it blocked. This would allow them to offer a level of customer service which we have come to expect in, for instance, clothing. Unfortunately anti copying systems seem to be done on a screw the customer basis.
I remember this being discussed before the forums went down, but just look how many people decieded to flame the guy for asking a question (which has been asked before without flame) seems if one person does it other follow to and nit-pick on spelling and puntuation the topic should of been locked for what you lot were typing not him.
Anyway i have heard of this happening to people buying brand new games to discover they cant use it and have to return it more of an annoyance really since you will eventually get a new key.
I canāt remember this being asked before. But itās not really a thing to ask on a game developerās board.
sorry for not replying been working away but why is it not a question to ask maybe then as etnies says they would think of a way of stoping it happen

Thanks for the insight but I still wonder: what do you tell the salesman in order to make him redund a (online) game whose box has been opened?
āIām very disappointed, I thought Iād find a real tapir inside, but this is just an action figureā¦ā?
oh and btw, Iām an I.T. professional, I donāt even earn Ā£50 in a day but still happy with my life AND will buy a copy of Quake Wars for sure. No tricks/refunds.

I donāt see how that makes his statement a lie.
Off Topic
No but if a bum can earn more than a āprofessionalā there is something wrong. Either the term professional is very loosely based or he should get his local Jobfinder
well, that happens a lot, expecially when you have a relative with a big name that either vouches for you or takes you into his company. Paris Hilton earns big money just by pretending to sing or talking in commercials.
At the beginning, those with some skill but no acquaitances might find difficult to make others acknowledge them for what theyāre worth. Itās not like you can start earning Ā£50 per hour at day 0.
You have no idea what he (or she?) does, his level of education, how much experience he has, where in Italy he lives and what a ānormalā salary there is for someone like him, and yet you assume heās either lying or is underpaid. Funny. :nag:
When I started work in Education, I was paid $10/hr and was lucky to clear $7/hr after taxes, withholding, etc. I worked a 6 hour day and that means I was making $42 (~28 pounds/day?) a day in take home pay. Itās entirely plausible that part-time entry level IT helpers/apprentices/etc would only be make 50 pounds per day. Paradoxically, even though I make $25 an hour now (~16 pounds/hr) I feel more cash poor than ever (after house payment / wife / kids / cars / internet / etcā¦ ) but I consider myself lucky to have even those things. A persons value is not defined by their earnings, many of the hardest working people in the world are the lowest paid.
I have no problem ponying up $50 for ETQW after the thousands of hours of entertainment I received from Wolfenstein:ET. I even contributed to the game development as a payback for making the best game ever. Wils, Locki, Prognar, Digibob, and the rest of the SD crew (even Zombie!) all probably have to pay rent/mortgage, eat food, and may even enjoy things such as clothing, electricity, telephone service and belgian beverages. They deserve to be rewarded for their efforts, just as I appreciate when people reward me (salary) for mine.

Who owns the bar ? your dad ?
or is āpintsā just slang for something else ?
Jesus H christ I make a random remark based on an obersvation and I get this. To clarify, By professional I consider someone to be qualified with either many years experience or a degree of sorts, of course you earn shit all at entry level but you sure as fuck arenāt a professional hence the ālooselyā bit.
Nail, point me out any family business where the family gets a decent wage, on most occasions its less than minimum wage.
Hotel my studio is in has 4 sons working there, they could be replaced by 2 part time business students, they make VERY good money, most of the family businesses around here do well, they pay their kids good money to stick around and continue the family business instead of taking their MBA and working for someone else
