Also, I agree with DAUK. The pimping of shadowcat and H0RSE that you do is a bit off-putting. I’m not going to tell you what to do, but I am curious as to why you feel the need to do it? If I play BFBC2 with you on Live, will you start to promote me? [I’m trying to get my reputation above shagileo’s.]

I’ll disagree with them if I do disagree with them. I have in the past. But there’s nothing wrong with being supportive to your friends. If I played battlefield or some other game and I liked the way you think about things then maybe I would back you up from time to time. But no I don’t feel the need to promote anyone. I admire the contributions H0RSE has made to the brink community and I think more people overall need to be less douche like as he is when making their point. And I include myself.

My wife of 2 years has been a vegan for 5 years and I can tell the difference between tofu and seitan and I don’t like the weird chewy consistency that seitan has and I prefer firm tofu. Caribbean Jerk flavor is my favorite.

You don’t know me or my motives. I’m not being a cheerleader. I just respect my friends. Sorry if it brings about offence in you that I’m so outward in my support.

BUT if I’m being honest, this entire thread is kinda OFT. IMO the only important post in this thread is the very first post as that’s the collation of all the information.

If anything, random posts in here actually help the OP since it keeps this thread near the top of the board :wink:

Again, I am not telling you how to do anything. (I’m only douche-y about repetitive spelling errors, and I try to limit that to people that I believe are native English speakers.) I am not in the slightest bit offended by the supportive and/or sycophantic posts. Your rude and insulting responses to people that disagree with you slightly I find offensive, but within acceptable limits.

And I must note that you ignored my initial point, which was the only actual argument I had with what you said. Are you still perplexed by the fact that not all FPS gamers are mass murderers?

I’m no one’s pimp. I explained earlier that I have friends who I usually try to be supportive of. I’m sure you probably do that in real life unless you’re a terrible friend.

Sometimes the internet being the medium that it is leaves no room for inflection and I snap at people because I misjudge and upon their reaction to that I end up apologizing to them. I’m a big enough man to own up to my actions.

I don’t think fans of FPS should be mass murderers. That’s a bit literal. But if you LOVE left 4 dead and resident evil AND also dead rising I would be shocked to find out you don’t watch zombie movies EVER. If you play modern warfare and battlefield and medal of honor and so on and so on I would be shocked to learn you don’t know what an M-16 is. I’d think that people who invest so much time into something might be interested in the details of it real or fictional. When did I say people who play video games should kill people? I can take any model of glock apart that’s having any issues (usually people “adding performance parts”) down to every little moving part and put it back together flawlessly and sometimes I forget the names of some of the parts myself. BUT I’m not going to kill people because I have that knowledge. Me telling someone they should know how to fix minor problems with their firearm on the range also does not mean I’m ordering them to go out and kill people en masse.

I don’t know. I’ve seen shadowcat be mistaken on some minor things. But I find it hilarious how he keeps his cool and comes right back with an extremely intelligent reply to the pure lunacy I see at times when I would just tell them to lick em.

I’m already perfectly aware that I snap at people. And I apologize when I do. How often do you admit to your imperfections? I’m not exactly the most reasonable person on the planet as empathetic and insightful as I try to be. My little brother was shot in front of me when I was a kid. I suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome from the combination of that and the bad luck of being in 4 car accidents that were not my fault. I was once in a coma for 4 months. I have neurological damage that doesn’t make me capable of being the most competitive gamer ever so I could give a **** less about elitist squabbles. I game for community and enjoyment. Forgive me if I don’t feel like I need to justify anything to anyone. But I will admit when I’m wrong. Life’s too short not to.

But get the **** off your high horse.

Well, I’ve pretty much given up on ever finding which pistol the Kolt is. It has a lot of the same markings as a Colt 1911, which seems obvious enough with the name. But there are a lot of features on it that seem to be totally stylized, to the point that i can’t match it to a real world variant of the weapon, there are just too many.

SD has me beat on this one. I’m just going to call it a M1911.

The Dan Wesson PPC revolver is the closest I can find to the (so-far) unnamed revolver in Brink. It’s not a perfect match, but I’m of the opinion that SD just slapped some picatinny rails on it to make it fit into their gun customization.

If you wanted to take a look at similar revolvers, and maybe prove me wrong, its a “Slab-sided PPC Revolver”. The first part just means its flat on the sides, the second part means it was designed for Police Practical Combat competitions. They were often made slab-sided so that you could hold the side of the gun against the side of what you are hiding behind to aim.

There are still a handful of missing names, but they should trickle in as release gets closer.

Of the name origins, I have an explanation that I’m reasonably satisfied with for all of them, save the Rhett AR.

Other than that, I can’t think of anything else to add to the list. If I get bored in the future, I may start looking for the real world counterparts of the attachments.

Still looking for a decent in game shot of the Barrett.

I guess what it comes down to is that, while I agree with what H0RSE says almost all of the time, I don’t think that extolling his virtues on a public forum really does anything for him. If you decided to promote me, I would ask you to stop, because I don’t think I need anyone to say explicitly that my opinion is good.

To me personally it seems that you are trying to sell your friends to everyone else, and your pals don’t need to be gussied up and spit-shined for an auction. Anyone who has been here for even a little while will realize what they bring to the forum. (And that is coming to you directly from the “King of All Forums”!)

Never played any of those zombie games, and the only zombie films I’ve seen is Night of the Living Dead, 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead & Zombieland.

Played MW2 (Bleh), still playing BFBC2 (Yay!), and tried to rent MoH from the Redbox once. I know that the M-16 is an assault rifle used by the US Military, and that’s about it. The details of the real gun are meaningless to my life.

Err… cool story bro… but your 1st mistake is thinking you’re the only person in the world that went through a trauma, your 2nd was feeling that it’s a viable excuse for being a dick. Forums are handy in the way that you can preview your post and read it back to yourself… I can understand if it was off the cuff remarks during real life conversations, but it’s a text based forum. Buck up your ideas and you may get taken more serious… and unnecessary crap like this won’t happen.

Maybe we can ask for this to be implemented, I’m sure a few people would benefit from it (even myself… self crit wtf)

Again with that. I know lots of other people that go through trauma. But there are lots of elitist dicks that post on this site thinking that Brink needs to be made specifically for them and probably have no awareness of people who have been through a “trauma” or so on. I’m well aware of others who have been through way worse situations then myself and I have a positive outlook on my life and I count myself lucky.

For the second part. I don’t think my trauma is an excuse for being a dick. But you’re being a dick to me right now. What’s your excuse? Boredom?

You instead of reacting in a civilized manner to my explaination that took honesty on my part was to put up some stupid web comic because obviously making your personal point is the most important thing at hand.
