I don’t know. What does he have to do with a European rifle?
Brink weapons
It’s pretty cool. Because brink has fictional weapons that are based on real counterparts. Come on you’ve never played video games with cars that had made up names and try to figure out what they were based on? It’s neat if you’re into guns. And it always perplexes me how people can be into FPS but not into guns at all.
I’m into steak (product) but could care less about knowing about the slaughterhouse (process). Ok that was a crap example but I just woke up.
I am reminded of a time I was taken to a steakhouse as a gift. I ordered a porterhouse, and was given a T-bone. Most people would not know the difference between the two, it just depends on the size of the tenderloin.
The staff ended up arguing with me, and I ended up having to talk to a manager. I got a new steak, the one that was being paid for.
I’m not really certain if this fits into your metaphor at all, but sometimes knowing a bit more about where your steak comes from can help you out.

Did you hear the sound of shadowcat totally logic raping you?
games and RL are a bit different, jst cause i can click a mouse and kill you…doesnt mean i need to know what the gun is based on IRL.
personally, i couldnt tell the difference between a porterouse and a t-bone, doesnt mean i cant enjoy them

Also doesn’t mean you should be given a t-bone when you ordered and payed for a porterhouse or vice versa.
Jess, how about you try to play to your own strengths and post some insight rather then leeching off of other people and cheerleader posting… and the tag abuse is getting just as boring as well.
Shadow, you don’t need to know where something comes from in order to know the ins and outs of it… you can tell the difference between steaks without knowing how to bolt the cow skull and cane the spinal chord.
That said, Lyndon’s comment seemed to ninja strike from nowhere… I see nothing wrong with the discussion, what ever floats yer boat.

Like I said, I think the metaphor is falling apart, I just wanted to tell my story o.o
Honestly, I can understand why some people don’t care, for me it started as nothing but a curiosity. I recognized some of the guns, and not others, so I started looking around, posting the ones i discovered. Several of the people at the Beth forums chipped in, so I started managing a list. Then I started looking to fill in the holes. Weeks later, the thread got locked for reaching the post limit, so I made a 2nd version and decided to post it here as well.
Never had any plan from the start, nor do I expect everyone to care. For those that do, the information is there.
It was a good story, and I definitely would have sent that T-bone back as well.
I would have eat the T-Bone, then asked for a refund or for the other steak… Heh, that’s being really cheap, and at least the T-Bone isnt wasted… I guess it was a US of A cow also, which costs alot of water and antibiotics and other delightfull stuffs to grow and to go into your plate
So next time, eat both ! And live longer! (or not)
When Borderlands came out, I sat around for hours trying to figure out the real world counterparts to some of the guns, but I could not for the life of me think of any revolver that shoots acid.

Here’s my insight. To those of you who post things like “What’s the point of this thread?”
Well…
A.) Some people enjoy this sort of thing.
B.) Shadowcat put a lot of work into it regardless and your crap attitude sucks.
C.) If there’s nothing else to read about now you’ve got a wealth of knowledge to delve into. Or would you rather watch people argue about rim lighting in +4 other threads?
D.) When the game comes out you can act like you know something when you tell someone that the gun they are using in game is a modified version of the M16, SCAR-L etc. And some people like being able to do that too.
So the thread has a multitude of points.
Even if the thread was pointless… if a poster put that much work into it you could at least show them a modicum of respect for what they did. And for the good of the forum no less. It kind of makes me not want to work on my youtube project because I know people will just complain and bitch about how they could have done it better or why’d I waste all that time when they could just search youtube for videos.
i always liked this thread, and mad props to the guys who put the work in. i jst didnt agree with the steak arguement
