Brink Updates Live, Free DLC Coming

(SentencedToBurn) #141

eh, the lag needs some work. They didn’t so much “fix” it, as they did make it so less players are matched together at once… which is stupid, because the smaller playlists STILL LAG LIKE HELL as soon as someone joins/drops out. and nobody likes playing against/with bots. It’s a last resort type thing.
I know there’s big team, but THAT’s still laggy as hell, yet it’s the one I want to play most…

Actual
solution to problem, plz.

Cod made modern FPS what it is, don’t act like you don’t know it. yeah yeah yeah there are still a bunch of total fags who play COD, but that goes with any game.

Goddamned brand-loyalty, I tells ya. games are games.

I think the saddest thing about all of this, is that so many people here - and on other games & developers blogs - write shockingly bad, ill-formed posts, abusing, hating, lambasting either the game, developers, other forum members…

…until gamers grow up, take responsibility for running their mouth off, and begin to deliver sensible, well-considered posts, instead of flaming, we will always been seen in a negative light, and not taken seriously…by developers, the media, or our non-gaming peers.

In respect to Brink, I stand by everything I mentioned in my earlier post - SplashDamage, please focus on a remedy for the existing issues that your fans are calling out for (party lobby & AI fixes), BEFORE introducing additional game modes, DLC customisation clothing/hairstyles/maps etc.

Bringing us DLC before the core feature mechanics of the game have been addressed will not appease those owners of Brink who are complaining about the game in its current form.

I have faith in you guys…I’ve waited 2 LOOOOONG years for Brink to release, since first seeing it at Eurogamer Expo in London, 2009.

I love the game design choices of objective, team-focused play, and would like to see you guys & gals really deliver a sensational experience for us all.

As long as the net code gets tightened up in the meantime this is a good fix for the minute.

Loving this game SD.

Its a shame so many people slay down COD just because its COD. It would be wise to realize how many great ideas have come from the Call of Duty series that are cribbed into other games to make them better.

You don’t have to like COD, but at least respect it for what its given the genre. Even Brink has elements from COD.

Awesome only thing missing now is split screen by the way please add that.

(Lj_dub) #147

Where is the Multiplayer lobby. I have lots of friends and we wanna pick sides and battle. I would think that this would be a basic need for all mp games.Haven’t heard any response to this very popular complaint this is ruining this game for me and everyone I know who got it

Home grown gaming. That’s what I considered you guys. But you pissed on yourselfs and your community, it’s like golden shower porn- but I don’t roll that way. So I put brink on delete, took a shower and now it’s time for the rant.

I’ve stuck by you guys, probably longer than you’ll stick by me (expecting delete after first paragraph) I’ve sat in server and told the people criticizing your “product” that with a line of patches it will be awesome. I’ve watched the servers go from 1400, too 500, to 1000 and had high hopes. Finally a futuristic ET concept!

Today, I got beat down by 3 invisible players. over and over. Turns out they were having a right troll following me around, while I had no sound because it now dies after 3 minutes of gameplay, and just jumping me for the ****s and giggles.

Now, I understand you have no control over what third party programs get released, but Jeez. You’d think you’d stop using the same tried and true Quake engine as your base, which is so easy to code nefarious elements for. You lean on vac like every other **** game - rely on the same hitbox concept as every other game. Well, Invisible players don’t have hit boxes.

Where is this revolution we were promised? Because of your fail game and the immense hype you have given it, even after delays, The customization? the “quadrillion” character possiblities? I.E. not pants with 12 different textures and the same pair of pants for three archetypes? The flowing, E.T. style campaigns? Finally, SMART? which is more like RETARD with to boot, tiny console maps. Pathetic. I’m never buying one of your products ever again.

I hope you’re sipping chardonnay at the pool front with my, and everyone else’s money you pieces of ****, because it’s going to be short lived if you keep releasing games like this, and as a marketer, you need to understand that word of mouth will destroy you- You can pay for your positive reviews but more and more people are depending on good old fashioned word of mouth.

My word on splash damage has gone from Home Grown gamers making games, to People who lie, cheat and twist the truth to create hype for pieces of ****, that arn’t worth the money, time or following. There are free fps’s which have given me more satisfaction than this. Pathetic.

An update that fix the lags great! But we also need an update that fix “freeze” esp. on Xbox 360. Please fix this as soon as possible!

(Thromka88) #151

How does this make you people happy? they are saying u can only play 8 players per game in a game that promised 16. and lets face it NOBODY can get in a lag free “big team” bs on their xbox 360 console when its available. Splash damage is a great company because they at least listen and try but I feel so ripped off and if you people are playing the xbox360 version and happy with this “fix” you are out of your freaggin mind. It’s still so full of bugs I still cant play games. I have no damn money and i spent what little i had foolishly on this. I bought this to play with my brother who I live far away from and we were friggen excited. Refund me dude. All my extra money out the window on this unplayable game.

(drkmn302) #154

will you have any players left at this rate…gamestation alone has had ppl throwing them back at them…you’ll have to do something drastic to keep the players!!

(K1N11) #155

i have an xbox 360 and the game runs fine for me.you can still play 8 Vs 8.if you are so pissed about it go traid it in but your be getting rid of the 2nd best co-op based fps on the xbox (L4D being the 1st)

CoD’s problems started with the yearly releases. They refreshed things with MW but its felt stale since then and the best will always be CoD2 imo. Which was as broke as broke can be online when it first launched.

(SubXulu) #159

Well, on first reading the horror stories about the lag me and the guys i game with all cancelled our pre-orders.

5 of us however decided to rent the game this weekend just to see if it really was as bad as people were saying … and it was :frowning: , most of the 8 v 8 games i joined were unplayable, i can handle a little ‘lag’ this **** just reminded my of modem-style packet loss.
I tried a few 5 v 5’s via the ‘competiton’ option and these were better.

So … if online lags you move to the single player. Whos idea was it to have no-recoil headShotting enemy bots each equipt with there own wall-hacks ??? … and to make sure you got 1 eyed pete the retard medic as a friendly bot? was the aim of this to frustrate the player so much that they gravitated to online asap , if so it would have been a good f***in idea to make sure mp worked!

Now im a patient (and pretty old) gamer, i started back when quake came out, i saw the teething problems with online games etc etc. But for the life of me i can work out why you PUSH FORWARD a release date on game with such b0rked online play.

Do SD only test this on partnernet ? if so clearly partnernet does not emulate the real live network at all, you need to test in your actual deplyment environment. I suggest next time you guys spend more time testing instead of making all those pretty PR trainer movies etc teaching you how to play a game thats friggin broken.

Im not gonna thank you like the majority of the ass-kissing muppets on this forumn seem to do, because you rushed out a player-limiting hack to fix this crap, nor for offering some free DLC , what freekin use are more maps when the game dosent work.

Fix the game and you might fix some of the damage you have inflicted on your rep, then you will find we are happy to pay for good DLC.

And just to add a little context to my rant, i am a software engineer of 10 years+ (medical , not games) i understand testing in the ‘deployment environment’ -QA the whole development process and i would be expecting a P45 in the post if i had been one of the people who said Brink should be released early in the state it is now … shame on you people.

(Bakercompany) #160

Agreed 100%.

Franchise fatigue is a shame. They killed Guitar Hero by smothering it in releases.

COD would benefit from waiting a year, give people time to miss it and crave a new release.

We know MW3 is coming out at the end of the year, and a lot less people care this year. I think BF3 will snuff it out a good bit, if they pull it off.

Brink will always hold my attention. I hope they continue to improve it and add more to it. There were a few things about Brink that disappointed me.

Namely
-XP is great, but would love to see a breakdown of XP earned and how. Even a specific breakdown of XP earned per weapon. And a career log to track it. I know it may seem pointless to some or against the “Brink” style to others, but I don’t see a reason not to track your career in a game like this.
-More maps. Definitely some that feature repeatable objectives (think the cruise missile mission) And maps that take much better advantage of SMART.
-Maybe get creative and throw in some different game modes? Some people argue against this, but I think would add a lot to Brink. Doesn’t even have to be the generics, just something outside of the campaign missions.

And I think the obvious fixes need to be lag #1 (which they’re working on) and lobbies on Xbox and PS3. If these two aren’t at least remedied, you’ll see a vast drop in players on consoles and that would be sad.
