Brink Updates Live, Free DLC Coming

(CerebralNecrosis) #121

Lag? What Lag? I’m not experiencing any.

>.>; But that’s because I’m playing on a PS3. :frowning:

But seriously, I don’t see why people are complaining. It’s a new game launched just several days ago, of course it’s going to have issues. And seeing as it’s faster to cook lasagna than it is to fix lag issues, their making some Ramen noodles until the lasagna can be served.

I don’t see anything wrong with that at all. If PSN wasn’t down, it’d hold me over until the main course was delivered.

I agree with everyone else about the Lobby talk. In my home, I’d like to invite my friends to dinner, those who matter. I don’t wanna feed strangers that just walk in.

Some more competitive game matches would be nice as well. I love my lasagna, but If I want spaghetti and meatballs I have to play CoD. How about sticking some of them meatballs in my lasagna?

And the guns, they’re really nice and all, but maybe some more skins would be cool so everyone isn’t eating regular macaroni. I do enjoy my Spongebob macaroni.

Disregard all the food references. I’m fat and I’m going to make some Lasagna now. Good day.

EDIT: Also, abilities. If Brink was going to sport the uniqueness it claims, maybe adding more abilities would be a good idea. That way players can in a way branch off of others and be as unique as they would like to be.

Brink Lags, can you go outside today? Please?

As far as changing the settings from 8v8 to 4v4, I don’t really agree with because the maps are just so big a 5v5 should really be the main way to play the game. Also, this game works seamlessly in privates on a good host, but a lobby system is really what it needs.

Also as far as abilities go, SD, have you thought about a way to ‘quick cast’ abilities? In Shadowrun there were many different abilities in which ANY class could buy and use, but because they could only map(put on a button) 3 abilities you could hold down B, rotate your stick to the proper ability, then let go and you would do the ability. This allowed people to use more than just a few abilities, and also upped the skill gap because if someone was good at quick casting they could be much more clutch.

Hey guys,

I’m lucky enough not to have experienced any lag in solo, co-op or versus games on Xbox360, and have mostly played in Friends & Invite Only mode.

I find the AI teammates are really poor. Perhaps a squad command wheel/options like in Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six would help, so you can assign your AI teammates to objectives (either on the fly, OR from Command Posts).
It would also be great to be able to have a feature to be able to call/request your AI teammates to buff/revive you. So many times ive been downed, and had 2 AI medics standing & running around me, shooting enemies or hacking Command Posts, but not actually reviving.

The game would benefit from a lobby for Party Friends prior to game start to discuss tactics/class assignments/loadouts etc.

I’m really not worried about DLC for extra clothing/hairstyles…you never see your own character customisation in an FPS, after all…but would like to see additional maps (which have been announced! happy dance) and female character models for equality & reality. (Are only men left in/on the Ark?) That said, I believe other than Perfect Dark & Gears 3, female characters don’t exist in FPS.

I do feel that people asking for TDM, CTF etc modes are missing the whole ethos behind this great team-focused game.

My final request would be for a stats website, close to Bungie.net, and an in-game stat-tracker, to show how many objectives your characters have attempted, completed, failed. How many opponent objectives they’ve defused, nullified etc. Favourite weapon used (no.of times selected/played with), least favourite, leader boards for fastest Campaign mission/objective completion, by week, month, all-time.

Kill/Death ratio is pointless and unnecessary to me, in a game where killing is not the core focus of mission objectives completion.

My review rating based on current game, is 7.5 out 10.

I truly love thhis game, the maps are wonderfully tight, exciting, tense. However, the AI teammate objective play just detracts the immersion of a team-focused objective play game, with the enemy AI being totally overbalanced/overpowered.

When played with humans, this game lives up to the hype! When played solo with AI, it’s worse & more frustrating than playing Resident Evil 5 solo.

Is there any chance of seeing the preorder packs released with the DLC?

How do you guys feel about this?

I preordered and got one of the packs but I’d be happy if everyone was able to get them all eventually.

(CerebralNecrosis) #125

Mr Loxy, about the different game modes, I agree, but the thing is if people aren’t feeling like a Co-op play at the moment, what are they going to do? They’re gonna set Brink aside and play CoD. How can you prevent them from branching away? Adding it to Brink.

(engiebenjy) #126

Im quite proud of myself, so far I have only raged once - when my hack was at 98% and i died - by the time i got back to the objective it was back at 0 :frowning:

(CerebralNecrosis) #127

I’ve had the same exact thing happen to me. Can’t wait for the PS3 is able to be updated. Then your team mates will hopefully be smart enough to defend you.

(MrLoxy) #128

A rational idea, sure enough, for the money side…but, I really feel a difference to this game compared to CoD & other TDM shooters.

I guess if SplashDamage do wanna add TDM, CTF etc that’s fine…not a problem…but I would much prefer them to address the current issues which are breaking the game - AI, party lobbies etc - first.

I can live without another generic TDM shooter for the time being, and was hoping Brink would bridge that gap between co-op & tactics in a shooter, which I’ve been craving.

It does…but needs a fine-tuning.

Yeah. That’s why you registered your username as “Brink Lags”. Forgive me for not lending you some credibility.

The children and women got evacuated from the ark when civil war broke out, equality is not keeping bitches and kids around gun tootin blokes.

I do think adding the generic game modes to Brink would enable it to fully capture the playbase. I for one wouldn’t deviate to any other game for quite some time if it had TDM and the others. The missions are great but do get old. And sometimes I just want to go see how I perform in combat.

I get giddy every time I see my name pop up on the right hand side when i’ve killed someone. Especially when I pop someones head with my light rifle. And seeing that tells me it should be really simple to add stat tracking into Brink.

AWSOME FREE DLC!!!:stroggbanana:

(NeutraiIty) #133

There, just in-case people didn’t see it the first two times.

SD isn’t the type of developer to do that sorta thing, they’re game designers yeah, but they’re gamers at heart.

More pew pew and less QQ?

So far I’m loving the game. Been playing for four hours straight.

(AzK) #134

Been playing the pc version since the eu release, made r5 yesterday, this is my feedback in no particular order of importance:

1)Assault rifles could use an accuracy boost when firing from the hip and should be a bit more stable when using the iron sights, atm there’s almost no reason whatsoever to use one over a smg (i bet you’ve checked game statistics and what people use and you know it’s true).

  1. I REALLy hope you’ll add female characters as dlc eventually, also think of those poor ark men i mean no wonder they’re so angry.

  2. No one shot kills in this game? I guess you were joking since sniper’s oneshots are all over the place, and it is very well possible to make people worse than miserable by just camping with it. Not my favourite playstyle but i tried it myself and it’s ridiculously easy aswell, it can get really aggravating in some matches where everyone starts doing it. Also, they’re usable backup weapons for light/med body types … bug?

  3. Heavy body types pretty much suck, and the reason is their exclusive weapons are nothing special and have more downsides than upsides. The heavy mgs should have better accuracy and less recoil to allow for sustained fire, that body type looks like the freaking hulk, are you telling me they can’t handle some recoil? The minigun (apart from not doing that much damage and being insanly inaccurate) setup time is insanly long , making it basically worthless. The nade launcher recoil is insane and the reload time is even worse.
So yeah, heavies have little/no access to smart, are slower, and get crap weapons. No wonder there’s so few of them. Having 10% or whatever more hp doesn’t balance all the downsides, and don’t even think about buffing their health even further as a solution cause that would not make them more fun to play as. (Again i bet you’ve checked game statistics and what people use and you know it’s true)

  4. There’s so few clothes and weapons customization options, from the ads and everything i would have expected a wardrobe/armory 10 or more times bigger than what’s available… not that big of a deal, but still… :stuck_out_tongue:

  5. In Refuel, or whatever the name of the map with the plane is, sound ALWAYS bugs and mutes right at the start

  6. Engi turrets are fairly crap (even the last one) dmg is fine and so is the range (ok maybe range could be improved a bit) i’d say, but their reaction times / ai need to be improved greatly since 9 out of 10 times they don’t get a single shot off even when the enemy destroying them is right there nearby. I don’t want turrets that instakill people, but i’d like they actually managed to shot a bit and put some pressure before going down. Also they seem to be having troubles locking on to people at different ground levels.

  7. Had a player who was invisible for several games in a row, no one could see him but he was killing people, although he wasn’t killing that much to make me think of a cheater so i think it may be a bug.

I really hope they can sort of the lag issues on the 360. I’m definitely glad I didn’t pick this game up because it sounds like the lag/host issues could be unresolved for some time (if ever) given SD feel the need to implement such a crude stop gap measure.

Really disappointed - I was so excited for this game, but no way will I go near it until I know the lag issues are resolved to a reasonable degree.

I honestly can’t fathom what SD/Bethesda were thinking though. Bumping up the release date? Are they essentially cutting their loses with regard to the 360? Honestly, I just don’t ge it…

Yeah I’m hating myself for not getting it off of Steam :frowning:

I completely disagree. I love my Hammerdeim toting Beefcake Medic.

(DeadEye) #138

Heavies with buffs and skill, destroy and can’t be destroyed.

I’m beginning to think people have never played class based shooters.

Dead, you’re talking to the COD generation. I don’t even think they thought it was possible that talking into the headset can actually be productive, instead of the inane high-pitched whining and moaning that they’re used to.

(Dr. Peace) #140

I have found (on Xbox) that, depending on the host, players will experience extreme lag with as few as 3 humans on the server.
Is a more effective solution on its way? I and many others would be very disappointed in you as developers if you weren’t working hard on a way to properly fix the lag. Once you’ve done that, my friends and I would also appreciate a lobby system. I know you’ve tried to avoid being like Call of Duty, and I’m truly glad for it, but its kind of lobby system really is the best way for friends to play together as a group.
Most important though, is the lag. You’ll fix it before I’m willing to buy any DLC, and I’ll encourage whoever I can to act in the same way. No amount of free content will change this.

Thanks for your consideration, and I wish you luck in making Brink live up to its great potential.
