Thank you so much for this. I’m still mad I can’t play offline smoothly (far from smooth) tho…
when i alt tab out of game the game crashes after a couple mins…not sure if its the game crashing the local server or the server crashing the game. win 7 64bit
I’ve replied to your post in the Tech Support forum.
a different crash now. after playing about 45 minutes online the game crashed and windows says not responding /end task and this appears
We are tracking this issue in the Tech Support forum.

Anyone else with technical issues they are having, please post them in the Tech Support forum where we are monitoring all issues and providing information where possible.

(badman) #103

This is not intended to be a permanent measure. We’re still looking into the lag issues - this playlist change is a quick way for us to provide people with a better experience until the underlying issues are addressed in the title update.

The updates are helping for sure and damn I can’t wait for DLC.

I want to first state that I absolutely LOVE Brink and was waiting for a damn long time for the release.
Before mentioning DLC I really do think the server search system needs to be polished up and the filters need to be simpler to understand.(I’m talking about adjusting the PC’s online server search interface)

I think Some new maps, new weapons to unlock(not just be given) and some more appearance choices are key. For appearance we really only have like 10 outfits that you mix and match and that could easily be improved. As for weapons I think we need more weapons that require being unlocked(earned) not just given, I can honestly say I was sad to see the number of weapons I started with in Brink as I think I should have had to earn a lot more than I did. Maps would be nice to add just because it would be nice to see what else SD can think of as the current maps are awesome and more like that couldn’t be a bad thing.

Please Splash Damage consider what I’ve said and I’ll do you all terrible dirty favors :stuck_out_tongue:

Game still needs a simple traditional lobby system to ensure longlasting playability.

That’s what all the console shooters have going for them; ease or use in starting a party and getting in game. Takes at most a minute. I have yet to TRY the way brink handles it but im going off what I read in that its just…not that intuitive.
They are not going to be able to fix p2p net code. This is gears of war 2 all over again only worse. Gears 3 is getting dedicated servers. For a really good reason.

How does this game even select hosts? What a disaster. Failure to launch. We were all robbed.
Jseus you kids need to calm down. The launch didn’t fail it was just rougher than you wanted it to be. Some people have no issues and some have bad lag. I know personally I can play the game with good fps, no lag and no problems what so ever so clearly the launch wasn’t a total fail. Honestly though just calm down and be patient, the game hasen’t even been out a week and your freaking about how it failed, thats just silly. The game is being fixed and I’m sure the lag issues will be fixed it just might not have been fixed in the first like 4 days qq

(tokamak) #107

More abilities is all this game need really, the player configuration need to be more unique.

Give every class a unique grenade.

Active Devs?, Patches?, Free DLC? What is this feeling? I’ve never had such a good relationship with any other game devs, I feel… I feel… I feel so appreciated Bursts into tears

Actually. Gears of War 2 works brilliantly now. Only having lag occasionally in full matches. I’ve played matches with people from 4 different countries at once and had no lag at all.

(Jess Alon) #111

That’s exactly what I was suspecting. But instead everyone is complaining or trolling. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with artificially correcting the problem until the root cause can be fixed especially when some people are playing 5vs5 matches for fun anyway so whats the difference of having a 4vs4 with bots. It’s actually a nice balance. The bots actually buff teammates and cover the objectives and it’s up to the humans to complete the objectives because the bots are slow to get that done.

Thanks for getting back with an answer badman.

I’d worry they’d have to raise the level cap to do this properly. Or I guess they could put them all in there and let you respec characters.

(RevLoki) #112

i played last night on xbox and the big team option is there but the games are still 8v8 and it is the same for all my friends

also are there any plans for a lobby or party system because its going to be pretty difficult to get a few friends in a game that is already running if its 4v4

(engiebenjy) #113

This is quite amazing, so the game wasn’t tested enough on consoles so games will lag at 8v8?

I am waiting for PSN to come back so have not played online yet. Surely better host selection would make more sense than making games 4v4 with bots…

Free DLC is nothing if you cannot even play the game. I am just confused more than anything - how could a problem so huge be missed on an essentially only multiplayer game?

:frowning:

(Brink Lags) #114

Its not a “better experience” you’re providing. Its ANY experience. Because the game you built doesn’t provide an experience as it was intended to be played. 8v8 on big maps with a well balanced team of varying classes and abilities. That’s Brink. 4v4 isn’t Brink. 2v2 isn’t Brink. The maps don’t scale to player population. The respawn times don’t scale to player population.

Why don’t you guys just tell me how I can make sure I host the game. I’ve got 25 down and 5 up. Far more than Live can handle. How can I ensure I host the 8v8? You guys should be writing blogs with tips on how to get good hosts to actually host. That’s a measure your customers want. Not a nerf. A “how to guide” on forcing host selection. A work around your ineffective host selection system. With no dedicated servers, you need the best hosts to actually get host or you don’t have a game.

In a month Brink will be a 4v4 human experience permanently because nobody will have the game anymore.

Its tragic because this should be the best console FPS I’ve ever played. I can see that’s what’s under the hood. This game is amazing. You guys really made an incredible game, in theory. But it doesn’t work.

Tell me you have a doomsday date picked for dedicated servers. If by one month the game is unplayable 8v8 you shift to dedicated servers. Start planning for that day. Let’s see the leadership. Let’s see the accountability.

(blackjack3578) #115
LMAO. That’s not a fix! That’s a nerf. My friends and I bought this game to play the full 8v8 experience. That’s how this game was designed to be played from the ground up.

I feel like I’ve been robbed.

Oh, we can still join 16 player matches can we? But they won’t function sans lag.

If 4v4 lags will the next fix be 2v2? Then 1v1 if that’s no good.

Here’s an idea, if you can’t figure out how to code a game without dedicated servers, DONT ATTEMPT IT AND DONT SELL ME ON 8v8!

Thieves.

The tragedy is I think this could be the best FPS MP released on consoles to date. So frustrated that they can’t deliver the real experience.
ok dude ask your self this, did your comment do anything at all to be helpful to the situation?
.

(Jess Alon) #116

They’ve said it’s a temporary fix. People who continue to whine are just trolling at this point.

(Brink Lags) #117

They are looking into the lag.

Its not a fix. Its a nerf. They didn’t fix the lag for 8v8. They told you to play 4v4.

I’m happy they are looking into the 8v8 lag though. But I’m not going to sing the praises of a dev to fix a broken game. That’s what they’re supposed to do.

I have a bad feeling its going to take a long time to get a real lag fix for 8v8.

And don’t mistake my vitriol for someone who doesn’t like the game. The core game is incredible. I just want to play it. I want to be this game’s biggest supporter. I see true greatness in it. Its painful to not be able to realize that potential.

(tokamak) #118

I’m afraid they’re going to raise the level cap to appeal to masses instead of letting players be more unique in their setups. Well can’t blame them, it’s just that I’d personally rather see more scope to specialise in rather than simply grabbing everything.

The thing is that, naturally all the substantial abilities lie in the first two brackets, if you raise the level cap and allow for more points to spent, players have an easier time to make several classes powerful. This can only be offset by making sure new abilities in high ranks dwarf the ones in the low ranks. That’s the way Blizzard does their level-increases related to the talent trees.

of course it’s going to take long but at least they’re looking into it and they know their on a tight leash with more then a few people when it comes to this, I rather them figure something solid out instead of something quick and doesn’t do anything (if it’s quick and solid hey go for it)

people to this day say homefront is still a laggy mess and they can barely find a game so let’s pray they don’t take THAT LONG or yeah i’ll completely agree with you cause free DLC won’t be fun in a game that is an utter laggy mess.

(Cykoani) #120

I love the game, i know that the game isn’t finalized in form, but are there any ideas floating around about the possibility of a “Team Deathmatch” or a “king of the hill” modes in the future? I know that the game is centered around a team-objective multiplayer aspect, but sometimes we need something different to play.
