Brink rivals

(Slade05) #101

Well, maybe they did not pay him. Or he was, like, a slave!
Or most likely some so-called journalist just can`t stay true to NDA.

On the brighter note, there is some Homefront footage on gametrailers and guess what, it is hysterically bad. Generic bull**** “story”, generic horrible on-rails sequences, generic everything. Honestly, they want to differentiate with THIS?

Those Kaos bitches stand no chance.

(Seyu) #102

I’d say Crytek’s lucky. If this leak had happened after or near the launch, everyone who pirated it would be able to play multiplayer, at least now they can change the online activation system.

Even though they said they were being bold and displaying the ‘true’ face of war in this game, the fear of Chinese backlash made them pick up North Korea as the antagonist instead.

(madoule) #104

homefront is of my wishlist… can’t wait for the reviews backing up this bad impression…

(madoule) #105

the comment section is going crazy…

(Mad Hatter) #106

To be fair, most of those people sound like whiney idiots.

But yeah, Brink doesn’t look like it will really have any rivals. Nothing else coming out looks even close to as good as Brink does. Nothing else looks like Brink at all.

(Herandar) #107

I thought it looked fine. They aren’t striving to make the game (especially SP) that different from popular FPS. I just wish that everyone would stop obsessing over the North Korea invading the United States part of the story. As if that was even the important part.

I fail to see how any one could determine the quality of the story based off a four minute clip where the developer was talking the entire time. The bulk of time spent on this game is going to be MP anyway.

Killzone 3 leaked

(II Captain K II) #109

Killzone 3 will be the biggest competition probably. I don’t think bulletstorm will sell that well, and IMO homefront looks like absolute trash intent on milking the CoD cash cow. pretty sad.

(Herandar) #110

But KZ3 will only be on the smallest of the 3 platforms that Brink is releasing on.

(Seyu) #111

I’d say the PC is smallest in terms of sales.

(Herandar) #112

I meant in terms of installed users. The PC has a much more devoted hardcore FPS fanbase, of course.

It already has sold well and is continuing to climb up preorder charts (it’s already a “bestseller” at both Gamestop and Amazon.com for instance for both 360 and PS3…). Of course the 360 edition has access to the Gears3 multiplayer beta and people will actually waste $60 to play a game they will OBVIOUSLY buy regardless of when it comes out. Same phenomenon with Crackdown and the Halo 3 beta. Although, I actually bought crackdown just to play crackdown, the Halo 3 beta was just a bonus for me.

That-being-said, I believe Bulletstorm will sell well and then die fast. Plus, I don’t think it will have a replayability that games like Brink will have. The multiplayer is usually what keeps gamers coming back for more. The singleplayer campaigns are a rare gem (Mass Effect 2 for example) that get multiple playthroughs these days due to the sheer amount of games coming out. Gamers typically don’t want to “waste” time with multiple playthroughs. Those that do obviously have a lot more time than I do.

(n0guns) #114

then you got look for more FPS =) in my opinion AVA is going to be the a good rival for BRINK because you can customize your gun top down trigger, barrel, sights, paint you name it man you customize it  :stroggbanana:

(H0RSE) #115

I don’t really see how a game having a more in-depth approach to weapon customization, is means for competition against Brink.

The weapon customization is only a small facet of what Brink is offering.

(Nail) #116

want gun customization ?

I suppose I should do a precursory google search next time lol. I have it preordered, cause I think it will rock, but I still think it won’t sell as well on release day as many of the other games coming out (KZ3). Sad, because Killzone 3 is a mockery and a disgusting defamation of what made KZ2 great.

(BioSnark) #118

Not a huge fan of everyone bashing games pre-release because they’re ‘rivals’ or whatnot. Judge the finished product. Got to say, however, I won’t be playing bullet storm because it uses GFWL where it would otherwise be on the table. Son, I am disappoint.

(madoule) #119

BUMMER! i did not know that, cheers for the info. you saved me 50 quit …

(Shanks) #120

IMO AVA is nothing more than a free CS:S clone with some ET thrown in and some modern you-need-moar-weapons! to sucker in the COD crowd. The biggest problem I have with AVA is the lag. There’s no pings whatsoever so you never know if you’re going to be playing on a server located down the street or half way around the world. Then when you connect to the server the only way to tell if you have a good ping or not is if you start warping all over the place. A real deal breaker there…
