Brink rivals

(LyndonL) #121

I really don’t see how a game’s framework stops people from playing it when potentially it has such a small impact particularly once playing the game.

People not buying Brink cause it’s Steam, people not buying BulletStorm cause it’s GfWL. It’s very petty in the grand scheme of things. If the game is worth playing, the framework shouldn’t stop you (if it doesn’t cost extra to use it).

(BioSnark) #122

Petty is not spending hours getting a product to work properly.

(LyndonL) #123

It’s complete crap I agree… But once it’s working it’s fine from everything I’ve ever seen. I’ve only had a problem with one GfWL game (GTA IV) and it made me dislike the name GfWL with passion - but it hasn’t stopped me buying another 4 games with it since, and all of those have worked flawlessly (minus the obligatory 3 game restarts to update GfWL on the first run).

(Cankor) #124

It wouldn’t stop me from buying a game I’m passionate about. But if I’m on the fence I wouldn’t buy a GfWL game whee I might buy it otherwise.

I’ll buy games from Steam when they are on sale even if i don’t know much about them since the risk is low when they are very inexpensive. But I now steer clear of the GfWL ones.

Interesting. Combat looks like a big improvement from the static LMB spam of the original.

Good PC games I’m looking forward to this year:

Red Orchestra 2 -PC exclusive
Natural Selection 2 -PC exclusive
The Witcher 2 -PC exclusive
Homefront -BUNCH of PC Specific Features
Portal 2 -Valve Game
Battlefield 3 -PC is lead platform, 64bit, DX11, no XP, 64 players, and all gameplay has been PC only

Crysis 2 ended up being a bad console port so I won’t be purchasing it anymore. Very disappointing. :frowning:

(madness) #131

timed clicks of LMB is hardly spam…

(BioSnark) #132

Kay. I should have said static timed LMB spam.

Enemy not sleeping

New video

Minecraft? Just kidding…

(Tune) #135

I’m confused, where is the real list of rivals?

Oh that’s not a joke list?

We’re fine.

(crazyfoolish) #136

Yes i agree.
Also Homefront and bc: 3.

I think that Brink will be truly superior to all these games though.

There is no Bad Company 3. Battlefield 3 is a holiday release, so it isn’t really going to compete with Brink directly.

The problem for me with L.A. Noire is that it is a linear detective game. Because there is a beginning and an end to the story, you have to get the cases correctly to advance, and so the game will push you in the right direction.

To me this takes half the fun out of it. You don’t get to free-write in your notebook, once you stumble upon a clue, the game puts that clue in your notebook, even if you were not paying attention at all. All conversations have only three or four response paths. This is not Team Bondi’s fault, I think of it as a built-in limitation of the genre.

The mo-cap technology is amazing though.

New trailer of LA Noire

I will keep posting new trailers of Noire and Witcher for 2 reasons -

1- vote for “not liked”
2- Bethesda must keep posting videos like “A Matter of Class” a bit more often.

u must know your enemy

P.S. Most idiotic release trailer iv ever seen - homefront

“…1- vote for “not liked”…”

Really? Would you rather go around and talk trash about these games than go promote Brink on other sites?
CDProjekt, the developer for The Witcher 2 has not only kept it’s focus on the PC demographic but is also resolutely against use of any DRM or charging money for DLC. Both The Witcher 2 and LA Noire seem excellent games to me and they will sell well, as they deserve to, no matter how many dislikes their trailers get on youtube.

Im trying to promote Brink, but it hard, all i hear is “TF2 clone” “We have TF, we dont need this console port”. I post on every major rus forum, but im alone. What can one man do.
