Both, actually
Brink Q&A
can you S.M.A.C.K. someone on the head or similar? ie a function like S.M.A.R.T., but instead of pointing at terrain you point at a player’s head and some action occurs when you click a certain button
with S.M.A.C.K. ™ meaning Strong Melee Attack Causing Knockout
Hah! I am so using this term from now on
Hi just watched Richard on xbox360 vids
When he mentions about bribing players to just, go on try it just push that multi player button (paraphrasing)
have an option for clans/groups to say that they would welcome a player joining them
I know from ETQW that there were quite a few clans/players that were happy to take a new player under their wing and walk/talk them through the game
Likewise people that are (for lack of a better word) noob hostile can choose to say no don’t let a new online player join my game
It might create a more friendly first impresion for new players and also create an enviroment where they can learn and develope there skills
Nice idea in theory gee…
However a feature like that could be abused by players pretending to be new, with the sole intent of being complete tards and ruining the clans rep. ie cheats etc

Not saying that they would join that clan, just they would play their first games with people that say they are new player friendly
People that like griefing would do it anyway
It might mean a higher percentage of players having an enjoyable first time online
I know on W:ET you could automaticly refuse players joining who’s PB key wasn’t older then xx days
i think though in this someone could have been playing from release but never gone on line

Oh right, my bad.
So basically you want an option that allows new players to find experienced players that are willing to teach them a few things. Interesting. I’ve taught quite a few players how to play ETQW, but on empty servers. Are you suggesting something along those lines… or an option that would take you directly into a game with “ultra friendly people who aren’t virgin nerds”?
I really think SD should get their cues from the way World of Warcraft handles clan ladders, random party formation and all that.

More the take you direct into a game with ubber friendly people
It will be a wonderfull land where we appologise after evry kill and cookies and milk are given out if it gets a bit tuff and coco for all when the match is over…
Well not quite
but you get what i mean
That’s a really interesting idea, letting players register themselves as tutors. THe XBLA version of Magic the Gathering did exactly that last year. It was kind of cool. Will have to give it some thought. I really like the idea, just not sure how schedule friendly it would be…
Joe, good thought about the collectors edition… that’s all I can say about that at this point
I understand that there will not be any female playable characters, for reasons that I mostly understand and agree with. However, I was wondering if this means that not a single female will be present in this game. It’s hard to imagine a city of 50,000 or so people without a single female.
Yeah that point has already been raised, it’s likely that some npc’s are female.
Another suggestion: I know FF is off as default but something I know from other games is that it’s really helpful if you make a different sound when you get hit by a team-mate. That way you don’t have to bother looking around to see who’s shooting at you.
Yeah or yellowish, ‘green’ often means ‘good’ and getting hit is never good.
A subtle green glow whenever getting healed or picking up a pack (or whatever you’re planning) would be great though.
I have been thinking, will BRINK be optimised to make the best use of Quad Core CPUs? Or will there be no benefit of having more than 2 Cores?
I am asking this since not too many games seem to take advantage of Quad Core CPUs and I am at odds if I should get a Dual Core CPU or Quad Core CPU for my new PC.
I might also be asking this too soon but hey, worth mentioning

will the collector’s edition come with wolf:et outfits for customization?
And strogg “eyewear”? :)
that would be very cool, or the Oppressor’s ‘wings’
that’s be a reason for me to buy the collector’s edition… lol!
