Brink Q&A

(tokamak) #661

Well his point was that you can’t buy the clothes you can’t see.

I’d like to see your wardrobe expand randomly instead of arbitrary.

(darthmob) #662

You should be able to see the clothes you can buy. It wouldn’t make any sense if not.

PS: Randomness is evil!

(tokamak) #663

Well, not complete randomness. Just tier the outfit pieces in grades of ‘awesomness’ so you’re less likely to come across the more impressive clothes. I’m sure somebody who has designed Fable friggin 2 knows how to distribute gear in a fun way.

(Apoc) #664

will there be set classes? or will the class you are depend on the body type/size you chose?

(H0RSE) #665

You can choose any class, and can change classes during matches. Your body type however, is permanent. If you can change body type, you would have to change to a whole new character.

(Apoc) #666

does body type alter anything?
it must do

(H0RSE) #667

basically, its like this: Theres 3 types, light, medium, heavy, and the differences are:

Health: Bigger = more hitpoints
Speed: Bigger = slower
Climbing: Bigger = less ability to climb
Power bar: Bigger = bigger power bar (can use more class abilities before it depletes)
Weapons: Bigger = access to bigger weapons
Size: Bigger = easier to hit

(Apoc) #668

Ah should be very interesting, cant wait to make a super fast ninja

(Aristotle) #669

Yeah there has to be something to them other than just that. People will just find ways to exploit the smaller body builds.

(tokamak) #670

Well, an emergency medic for example. One that isn’t capable of healing and reviving masses of players but fast enough to sprint to the guy who got downed while doing the objective and support him from there.

(Apoc) #671

Thats what i was thinking, its going to be very hard to balance it when there is a possibility of having a fast, good climber with small body.

(H0RSE) #672

But small body has disadvantages also.

Access to less guns
less health
smaller ability bars

It’s like comparing the heavy to the scout in TF2…each are great in their own way. It all depends on playstyle.

(Apoc) #673

Its just going to be so incredibly hard to balance it to the point that people cant find a particular height and weight that makes you run at an adequate speed, be able to climb the important obsticles, just about have the best gun while still keeping a mediocre or less body size.

I can just see there being a “pro size”.

(MILFandCookies) #674

Thats pretty much what Im expecting, but in a way thats even obvious to a new player.
I guess the question was more of a hidden suggestion than a question.

As far as under dressing, or wearing very basic clothes. Thats something I would probably do if I saw it as a tactical advantage.

(Mustang) #675

I don’t see it being that hard to balance the sizes against each other
After all there are only three of them to choose from

(H0RSE) #676
I don’t see it being that hard to balance the sizes against each other

Exactly. It’s not rocket science…I think some of you are looking in to it too much.

(Apoc) #677

Its just you know how in most games there will be a selection of weapons or whatever, and classes, but when it gets competitive people seem to stick to the same specific weapons and team builds. Id just like to see an fps where there is no “best tactic” that all the pro teams do, and the ones who do it best win. Id love to open it up to some creativity.

Im sure it will be fine, just some thoughts

(tokamak) #678

That’s what I expect the most from ‘continued support’, spotting ‘perfect’ builds and fixing them.
*Which, incidentally, I reckon is and extra part of the reason for motionsickness in games - implying someone has full camera control, and then taking it away momentarily, ontop of presenting them with an undulating scene while their body and sense of balance remains static.
COD4 scene on the ship, you are thrown sideways trying to get out before it sinks. I died the first time, tried it again, after that I was too nauseous to continue.

I get motion sickness from most Source games (half-life source being the worst), COD4 a little (a lot after the scene described above played twice). Never got it from W:ET, was scared silly I’d get it from ETQW and overjoyed when I didn’t. Can’t play the new Wolfenstein though (it’s criminal you can’t turn of bob and roll, I can’t even play the single player version, I want my money back!!).

It makes me so happy to see someone even mention that this kind of thing is taken into consideration. Please make it so Brink doesn’t make me sick!

(Shiv) #680

there where quite a few people feeling sick on half life 2 because they dropped your angle of view down a bit.
i think if you google it there is a fix
