Brink Q&A

(signofzeta) #621

I don’t know, I’m asking if the skinny build is attached in any way to the medium and fat builds in terms of having similar animations and having similar outfits and stuff.

Is it that skinny people wear different stuff than fat people? If this is the case, there actually is a way to fit in female characters, but if the skinny, medium, and fat builds share the same clothing set, then fitting in female characters is not an option.

So a question to Splash damage. Does your skinny character have a unique set of clothes that is only available to the thin build, but unavailable to the medium and fat builds? Does the thin, medium, and fat builds each have different animations?

I’d prefer the lose all XP for map or campaign if I quit. If I’m not there to contribute to my teams ultimate goal then I shouldn’t benefit at all. Little harsh but it’s simplistic and a display on the quit confirmation screen of XP you’ll be losing might persuade a few of the little dice rollers out there to reconsider.

Not liking the accumulated XP multiplier. Seems to undermines the XP system’s stated purpose and ultimately rewards players who can spend extended periods playing. It also again assumes that every player actually cares about earning XP.

So that said. MMmmm rage quitting. Did I mention my idea about ignoring fictitious flawed XP systems to judge whether a player is good or not and use good old fashioned social accountability? LOL sorry just saying.

All the outfits are available to all 3 body types…

(MILFandCookies) #624

XP thats scarce with the abundance of upgrades and special abilities that arent available to the player… will keep that player playing, so that they do become available to them.

Adding a multiplier based on time played on a server - simply makes it too easy.

Then you’ve only lost your endurance and nothing more.

You act as if all values of xp, xp per hour and modifiers set in stone. SD can tweak them however they want to get players work as hard as SD wants them to work for the rewards.

A modifier that slowly accumulates doesn’t need to go into infinity, you can set it to limit at 10% or whatever the amount of bonus xp the designers deemed worth for players who keep playing for x amount of time spent without logging off.

I really urge people to be a bit more flexible with numbers when considering these things.

(MILFandCookies) #626

The xp bonus one gets for sticking to a server, needs to be pretty significant in order for it to be an incentive to stay.

I think you would be surprised in how many people will play to end of the round / campaign, knowing thats the only way they would get access to the XP they “worked for”. Which solves the rage quitting problem.

If you want a playerbase for your server - its your job to create a community that plays on it. Not SDs. I suggest you start making friends

Hi
I have question :
What about destruction object and environment in Brink

In era of cryengine2 ( where many object cane by blast ), coming Bad company2, and great Geo-Mod2 in Red Faction: Guerrilla I would not like bullet proff carton boxes or wood object where players can hide ect.
What this case will by realize in Brink

(tokamak) #628

The environment won’t be destructible or penetrable.

Personally I can’t stand anything beyond window smashing

And the whole, this bullet will penetrate this but not that
But wait, if I switch guns this one will work if I have a +5 piercing bullets
Blah, blah

I agree. What’s the point of having walls for cover if they can just shoot you through it?

I love that actually. But in a different game where the main focus lies on eliminating the other team instead of doing objectives.

They can’t see you through it, and not all walls are penetrable.

(Mustang) #632

It’s not so much bullets going through stuff like tapestries and railing
But through solid walls, like CoD4, kind of annoys me

And as soon as it starts to become selective over which weapons can penetrate
e.g. Some can shoot through wood, others metal and wood
Then I lose interest

What kinf of handgun was used on the gameplay videos?

I thought that it looked like the M1911 handgun, and I started to wonder if it was that handgun.

(Tyfonknut) #634

Will Brink be released in September?

Because I found a link to this page from Brinkthegame.com:

All our guns are based on real world ones, but Bongo Boy is the firearm fanatic, so he’d have to say what that pistol is modeled after…

Not a cool case cover pic.

(Stroggafier) #638

The PS3 has a specific controller and the XBOX has a slightly more flexible, but still limited controller base. The PC, on the other hand, has a comparative smorgasbord of controllers from which to choose. Will Brink support any specific controllers, or will the mapping capability include most/many/all controllers with dual stick, dual pad, vibration, “shift” , etc. features?

Alternately which key controller features will be supported (e.g. dual stick, multiple maps -“shift-key”, etc.)?

(tokamak) #639

Yes, the ‘games for windows’ bar ruins the outstanding piece of art.

(signofzeta) #640

my brother says that the cover pic is… gulp, guh guh, guh, guhey.
