It is a very specific spot, this gives us an opportunity to do high quality animations… you can actually see when a Soldier is nearly done with a bomb plant.
Brink Q&A
My questions for today is:
2. Will I be able to bounce from player to get higher
3. Can I bounce from wall or do like wallrunning
4.Does each class will have one set of weapons to choose whether it would be several different heavy weapons and pistols?
5.When you fall from a height that I could do something to reduce damage ?
6.Can you climb up in weapons?
7.Do you jump on someone and kill him like a ninja?
2. No
3. Can’t answer this one yet
4. Weapons are only governed by body type, class doesn’t matter
5. Yes, you can slide if it’s timed well. You can see Paul doing this in the videos if you watch closely.
6. Not exactly…
7. Can’t quite answer this one either yet except for possibly maybe
Simple questions:
Is one character restricted to one faction or can you play for both Security and Resistance? And depending on the answer: What influence does it have on your choice of unlocks (clothes / abilities) and team balance?

From what I’ve read, you can play both sides with the same character. Each faction has completely different outfits, and color choices will be faction specific as well. As for how it impacts your unlocks, like if you play Security, will you unlock the cool Resistance outfit? I don’t know. Assume it would either be like a point system, where you can spend them on whatever you want or you unlock more for whatever side you are playing. Kinda like a ‘perk’ for sticking with that faction. You want the cool trench coat? Then you have to play through the entire Security campaign…something like that.
The later, like the new Wolf or CoD. For a few reasons: It’s a very powerful tool for our level designers to define where the bomb planter has to stand (so the can design the area around this to maximize strategy for both attacking and defending teams), and it also makes the game a bit more accessible for new players who are learning the ropes.
Oh, there’s some cool shit (can I say that?)
We’re not talking about gun specifics yet, but I will say that it would be a real shame if you chose the big body type and didn’t get some really big guns to use with it
Devoted button, you don’t equip them as a seperate item anymore for prep. Actually, the gameplay videos online are out of date in regards to this, where they show your gun being deequipped and then the grenade equipped. It’s all very smooth and cool now. Hopefully there’s be more video in the new year to show how it’s working.
There’s a bunch of unique stuff related to melee that we haven’t talked about yet. More info in the coming months.
We like system link type stuff, and hope to do it, but no promises. It’s not our number one priority. Fingers crossed though…
Some question about SDK
Will it have a gameplay scripting tool like KISMET?
How big the map that SDK can handle?
That’s all for now
Good questions. No idea though. Our tools guys and LDs are already on holiday, so I can’t ask 'em! (sigh, I remember the days when I used to actually build levels and write game scripts. ah memories)
Covert related questions:
- How long does a team get access to radar after a player is interrogated?
- Is there an enhanced radar upgrade / ability that gives the team radar for a longer duration?
- How are disguised coverts recognised by the enemy?
- With disguises - do players take on their clothes, or do they also take the form of their physique?
I understand, you guys might not be able to answer these questions, and thats fine. :)
Hmm, i probably shouldn’t answer these, but it’s the holidays!
*right now, the team gets the effect for 10 seconds. This is very subject to change, of course, but on balance, 10 seconds seems to be a pretty good window to not make it overpowering.
*there are enhancements
*the intension is that unless you’re the person who is actually the victim of a disguise, there’s no in game indication at all that the disguised guy is not who he seems. so you really have to rely on watching his behavior.
*you take on your victims clothes and physique. so you look like you’ve become a skinny guy, but you haven’t really, so it might be suspicious if you’re a big guy who disguises yourself as a skinny, but then never actually do any skinny type activities…

2-7 got addressed, but for #1, by default, no gun is powerful enough to kill anyone with one bullet. BUT, there are in-game upgrades to temporarily increase the power of the gun, and equally, there are upgrades to increase the length of one’s life meter. So there’s kind of an escalating arms race of weapon power vs. life power that helps ensure that every encounter is unique, and the tide of battle can turn at any moment.
Is there a way to customize your character so that he only runs around in his underwear? Not that I actually want that in the game though.
Even if you took off all your clothes, what is the default clothing set that cannot be taken off?

http://www.splashdamage.com/screens_brink/004.jpg - Mr. Spine Removal there should give you an idea of this.
i lolled, i now NEED to see a big guy doing the crazy athletic skinny guy moves in game after playing it for some time
If the hit box is body size dependant i guess this means your a big target with no health :x
So no trickplanting like in ET:QW?
I rather have a charge you put on it then use some arming device so once killed, any teammate can resume the progress or whan in a hurry, let 3 guys arm 1 plant. This is something i loved about ET:QW and hate to see wait-3sec-to-arm or die having done nothing.
<In a surfer’s kind of voice> Dude, the plant outline thing is so lamesville. I mean like dude, you can only plant in like one spot ya, and you can’t trick plant.
<getting out of surfer voice> But that is only me.
blowing shit up in real life is extremely precise, it should be somewhat so in game.

Ahh, I was mistaken, it was wall running that was hinted at
:o
