without going into too much detail (since we haven’t released our weapons list yet), i shall simply say to this questions “yes”
Brink Q&A
I have another question, on the public multiplayer matches, how long time will Brink take usually in one game.
15 minutes?
too early to say. the amount of time attackers get on a map is one of (if not the) the most powerful balancing tools in the level designers arsenal, so they’re constnatly playing with them. we’ve had playtest matches that lasted 10 mintues, and ones that lasted almost 40 minutes (that one was epic). but they change from playtest to playtest as we experiment with balance and add new features. so it’ll be awhile before we can answer that definitively. however, if i had to bet, i’d say that the overall average is going to be in the 15-20 minute range (but things change, so don’t quote me on that!)
will the game feature clan tag?
Will it also be a system for clan games when it comes to multiplayer on consoles?
Still working out how robust our in-game clan support is going to be, vs. out of game stuff. hopefully will be able to make some annoucements about this in the new year.
and yeah, i’m going to go out on a limb and say i’m pretty confident that clan tags will be present
One of the things we would do in QW for laughs - is plant HE charges in the middle of hallways.
In Brink, can players place charges anywhere on the map, or do you restrict them to objectives only?
right now, they’re plantable basically on level-designer-determined spots only…
Wow, nice one on a roll rahdo.
for map times, it sounds like different maps have different times they have to be completed in?
or are they all having the same time but the rest balanced to get that time correct?
Are there plans to have airstrikes or something similar, like in W:ET and QW?
Can Engineers build anything other than turrets, or can they build different types of turrets?
How significant is the difference in speed between a Light and Heavy body type?
Do all body types have access to light, medium, and heavy weapon loadouts, and depending on the body type, the weapons change for each loadout? Like a Light body might have a shotgun available in heavy loadout, whereas a Heavy would have a rocket launcher, but all three loadouts are still available.
Is the soldier able to use more weapons than the other classes, like in previous games?
Are there separate customization options for each faction, perhaps as a way of identifying teammates from enemies?
- not at the mo.
- yes and yes
- between light and heavy it’s a pretty big difference
- i notice other guys have answered this
- soldier does get some fun unique weapon based abilities, yes
- each faction has completley different outfits, and we’re also limiting colour choices to faction specific ones as well
i’m a big fan of the limbo menu, and don’t imagine that going away any time soon. command posts are (among other things) a nice way to change class quickly without first having to commit seppuku
Oh oh, back to the HE charge thing, is it planted in any area on the objective, or is it just planted in a tiny outlined area like in wolfenstein?
And no airstrikes or artillery eh? Is there any substitute?
Are there heavy machineguns? Like the GPMG from ETQW and MG42 from ET? Chainguns like the venom or hyperblaster?
Is it a separate button to throw grenades? Or is there an option to have a weapon slot that is a grenade in your hand, and you throw that like in RTCW, ET and ETQW?
What is the melee attack? Knife? Butt of weapon? Will the melee attack be a separate weapon slot like in ETQW?
Is there going to be lan on PC and PS3 and system link on the 360 version of the game?
Some great titbits of info there Rahdo, as always
A few surprises, e.g. specific explosive charge points
But keep this juicy stuff coming
Some question about SDK
Will it have a gameplay scripting tool like KISMET?
How big the map that SDK can handle?
That’s all for now
Brink doesn’t need bigger maps than ETQW so I bet the max size won’t be changed in the latest IDtech4.
My questions for today is:
- Will be in the game sniper rifle or weapons with zoom and kill player with one shoot ?
- Will I be able to bounce from player to get higher
- Can I bounce from wall or do like wallrunning
4.Does each class will have one set of weapons to choose whether it would be several different heavy weapons and pistols?
5.When you fall from a height that I could do something to reduce damage ?
6.Can you climb up in weapons?
7.Do you jump on someone and kill him like a ninja?

2 - 7, no
Covert related questions:
- How long does a team get access to radar after a player is interrogated?
- Is there an enhanced radar upgrade / ability that gives the team radar for a longer duration?
- How are disguised coverts recognised by the enemy?
- With disguises - do players take on their clothes, or do they also take the form of their physique?
I understand, you guys might not be able to answer these questions, and thats fine.
