Brink PC Feedback
The wheel for changing classes should not show when engineer is upgrading the command post.

When upgrading a command post the wheel for changing classes is showing. If an enemy appears and I “jump” away (move the mouse) from the post, suddenly I’m another class and the buildables just disappeared too. FUN!
Agreed, that is quite annoying.

With the new patch, (I’m pretty sure I mentioned this earlier) I’m happy that the chat font is bigger, but the amount of characters across the screen is still not long enough. My chat ends up looking like:

“amazinglarry: Guys
seriously gib these
freaking clowns
out!”

I understand we don’t want it getting in the way of everything else that’s going on, on the screen… but that’s just far too short… and looks a bit ahhh… unprofessional.

Brink PC version is shaping up to be a very great game. I enjoy playing it daily and I have very few gripes.

Here is my Brink wishlist!

 1. Add a /dance emote

 2. Add a gun that forces people to /dance

 3. Body type should be switchable in between maps.

 4. Nerf the Carb9 a bit so people actually use something else.

 5. Rename normal grenades to “Concussion Grenade” because that’s all they really are anyway.

 6. Give grenades a slightly larger concussive radius.

 7. Buff shotgun damage a bit, or add ability to choose between slugs/buckshot.

 8. Add ability for heavies to kick someone into a wall and knock them out for a short time.

 9. Change default FOV to around 85-95.

 10. Add larger magazines to the EZ Nade launcher as an option. 8-12 rounds would be nice.

Only the last wish actually applied to the PC.

(legend123) #166

ya i think the new text size is just way too big.

(xdc) #167

i like the new text size, but this didn’t fix it

the problem is before and after games, the movie clips interrupt the connection between other players

you should at least be able to see chat text/talk while ANY movies are being played

global/team/fireteam chat should never be disabled at the end of game, servers shouldnt have the option to turn it off

also at the end of the game it should go directly to chat instead of the XP meter, atleast at level 20

add option for chatbeep for team/fireteam/global separately

fix all this, and it wont feel like my playing with bots anymore

I haven’t read the whole thread, so I apologise if this has already been mentioned.

I’d really like incapacitated players to be able to see when my supply pips are empty when I’m playing medic. Been a lot of times where I’m standing/running around near a downed player waiting for my 1st pip to refill and I’m sure they’re thinking “What are you doing ?! Revive me FFS !”

It’s also frustrating on the other end when you can’t tell if the medic near you is in that same situation, or just has no interest in reviving team mates.

(Runeforce) #169

It has it uses, especially if you are specced in more than just one class.

(legend123) #170

you know I have been thinking…

POINT #1
among us Brink players I am quite sure there are a lot of computer science/programmers.
SO MANY THINGS in this topic can be changed very fast.

im not saying we want to be hired. but give us the chance to mod/add things/etc.
Honestly many others and myself are WILLING to improve this game for FREE.

plz consider this.

POINT#2

There is dozens and dozens of excellent feedback in this topic.
It would be awesome to somehow put them all on one page/post!

(Trivve) #171

Most of my list of things has been mentioned before but it doesn’t harm to be mentioned again.

Cvars and commands:

[ul]
[li]“Reconnect” should disconnect if already connected, currently you need to “disconnect; reconnect” to actually reconnect to a server.[/li][li]Bring back “devmap” command.[/li][li]Add record and demo playback commands.[/li][li]Add cvars to control most HUD-element, change size, location etc.[/li][li]Add max-fps cvar.[/li][li]Possibility to see ping-numbers in scoreboard and not only graphs.[/li][li]Cvars to disable certain abilities, and not only override.[/li][li]Command to list all connected clients with their respective Steam ID (client-command)[/li][li]Command to change ads-sens (zoom).[/li][/ul]

EDIT:

I also would like an option to disable intro video of all maps, the video ending a map, and it should be possible to chat post-game/between maps.

Indeed, it can be presented as a fully functioning core game on which thick layer of console plastered on top of it.

All that needs to be done is this layer to be removed again. And I’m not dissing consoles here, since recently I got Brink for the 360 and I really don’t see what everyone’s whining about. The graphics are great, I don’t see any lag and the game plays well. The game is perfect on consoles (thanks to the console adaptation as well).

It’s just that the PC version needs to drop everything that was initially implemented to accommodate to consoles.

The objective wheel for example might not be as fancy as the map overview in W:ET, but it does help players to orient themselves (having both would have been ideal, but slightly late for that). As such, advanced player could use fixed numbers or letters to quickly pick an objective.

Same with class selection at a command post: add hotkeys for every class and weapon.

And finally, having separate keybinds for “throw revive needle” or “improve/repair/construct stuff” doesn’t mean the “one button to rule them all” needs to be removed, just add those keybinds for the players looking for it.

(Kendle) #174

I think it’s the other way round, there isn’t a “PC version” sitting underneath on which a “console version” has been built, there’s just a console version which has been re-compiled (for want of a better expression) to work on PC.

i.e. there is no PC version, there is nothing to “drop” to get to a PC version, the PC stuff doesn’t exist in the first place and needs to be added.

(Sgt.Smegma) #175

suggestion for the hack device vs engie problem. maybe it would be a way to have a fix time for the engie to remove the device and not to decrease the progress of the hack itself. let´s say as long removing a he charge.

(tokamak) #176

Well then that wouldn’t make much difference as far as I understood it you still have to continue the hack by standing near the device before you can move away. So all the engineer would do is make the operative place the thing back on again.

(Zylw) #177

Some variation of sound bug is still there. I got random sound bug in reactor and after that it happened in every map before restarting the game.

And please try to find fix for invisible players. Its getting annoying.

And server browser still sucks. Small fixes wont do it because it needs total overhaul.

(Lu-Tze) #178

I’m missing a chat history…
simplest thing.

I’m in a firefight, see text don’t have time to read, and when i do it’s gone.:stroggbanana:

I hope that’s coming in the next patch, ETQW had it perfect.

(stealth6) #180

Reposting what I said in the other Suggestions thread:

 • Less locking onto things (like cps for instance, even when you just got for an ammo refill you get ‘stuck’ for just under a second)

 • Less computer thinking for you, if I’m looking at a downed teammate and I’m pressing F then I don’t want my character to suddenly turn around and buff the guy standing next to me. Also separate sprint and SMART

 • Chat history like said by Lu-Tze

 • SDK?
