Brink PC Feedback

(kozzy) #181

Im personally loving the game, even more since the latest patch (:

Thanks Splash Damage for releasing a good team oriented objective game!
Hope to see some new levels and an editor for pc version at some point!
keep up the good work, this game is a breath of fresh air in a stale genre.
I haven’t read the whole thread, so I apologise if this has already been mentioned.

I’d really like incapacitated players to be able to see when my supply pips are empty when I’m playing medic. Been a lot of times where I’m standing/running around near a downed player waiting for my 1st pip to refill and I’m sure they’re thinking “What are you doing ?! Revive me FFS !”

It’s also frustrating on the other end when you can’t tell if the medic near you is in that same situation, or just has no interest in reviving team mates.
So ridiculous that they went through the trouble of making a supplies out auto movement in quake wars but not in brink. are you kidding me splash damage.

Just one simple thing… intermission chat

(kamikazee) #184
Reposting what I said in the other Suggestions thread:

 • Less locking onto things (like cps for instance, even when you just got for an ammo refill you get ‘stuck’ for just under a second)
Wait, do you mean you lose your speed for a moment when you get ammo or the fact that when handing out an ammo pack the game will lock your view to the guy you are aiming at? The first would be a bug if it happened, but I see the second as a feature (no more trying to supply ammo and having it drop on the floor nor getting easy XP by covering the whole floor with packs at the spawn).
- Less computer thinking for you, if I’m looking at a downed teammate and I’m pressing F then I don’t want my character to suddenly turn around and buff the guy standing next to me.
I hope they simply add extra keybinds, like “switch to ammo handout mode” and still keep the use key for when you still got your weapon in hand.
- Also separate sprint and SMART

 • Chat history like said by Lu-Tze
 • SDK? :D
All seconded.

He said refilling at command posts gets you stuck

(BioSnark) #186

Right now I’m looking for:

[ul]
[li]ability to remove auto SMART movement from shift/sprint key in options > gameplay menu.[/li][/ul]

[ul]
[li]ability to remove autopilot from “use” key in options > gameplay menu.[/li][/ul]

[ul]
[li]extensive use of netvars to rebalance map time limits, spawn times and hack objectives:[/li][/ul]

But with [netvars] you don’t have to touch game code at all. We can fix problems reported to us in just one evening.

(stealth6) #187

When you go to a command post to refill your ammo, first off you have to get into the right range of the CP which can be annoying, then you have to press F.
When you press F your character zooms into the commandpost aka sometimes it moves your position and turns your view towards the cp, it also blocks your movement for just under a second even if you just tap F (to only refill your ammo)

It just doesn’t feel very SMART

I’d just imagine the character is running past the cp and grabs some ammo, while running, so it’s annoying that you get ‘stuck’

The game was too overhyped and the visuals are really disappointing, I feel like in a misguided mixture of Quake 3, TF2, etc. . After ETQW again a game for the shelf. Sad. Directly uninstalled again, maybe I come back after some patches but I fear there will be nothing much to return too in some months.
He said refilling at command posts gets you stuck
If he means that you have to press “use” on the command post and that you are unable to move around, I don’t see the real issue. If the game decides to delay you in getting ammo, so be it.

The only issue I could see is if you accidentally move your mouse, you enter the “change class” or “change weapon” menus while you just wanted to tap for ammo.

(TheDuplex) #190

Or Upgrade/Firewall a station!

(AnthonyDa) #191

Yeah but somebody brain-farted and BRINK is a huge regression on almost all (if not all) GUI elements, starting by the server browser.

(Dopaminergic) #192

This game is disappointing and crashes for me all the time with an OpenGL error.

I think, instead, you should’ve made a game that doesn’t suck and doesn’t have fatal OpenGL errors.

(legend123) #193

Oh god so I have been looking at the PC numbers for this game…

First 3 days (NA release) 10,000 people peak
EU release 17,000 peak
then 9,000
then 6,000
last few days 5,000
today 4,500

Now I know some of you think with improvements the population will somehow magically increase
but I am having my doubts. Sure a few may rejoin but it wont be nothing on the big scale.

Im really hoping some of these issues mentioned in this thread get fixed asap.

(hideinlight) #194

Here’s a tip, hold a 7 days free to play week (if most of the technical problems been sorted out) on steam. Heck, maybe even take $5 off the current price. It’s important to hit critical mass asap again especially with a game like Brink with so many terrible reviews and with so many people hesitant to buy it. Instead of waiting until the game is dead before really trying to do something, like in the case of UT3, where people didn’t even get enough time to download it on it’s f2p weekend.

(crazyfoolish) #195

Yes! As soon as most of the bugs are gone and just before DLC is released SD should do maybe 5 days of free Brink. It really can’t harm it in anyway as i doubt anyone will buy it for the SP.

(Seiniyta) #196

Or just make Brink free with paid dlc for the ones that haven’t bought it, but (first coupel of) dlc’s free for the ones that purchased the game. Stuff like your appearance, more customanization, options and so forth added as dlc you can purchase.

(Bizagon) #197

Single player easy mode is really hard. I’m a fairly experienced player I am getting steam rolled half way through the campaign. The friendly A.I. can’t be relied upon to protect you or complete the objectives so you have to do everything.
Also the game text bugs up on way too often.

(light_sh4v0r) #198

I don’t agree, it can be challenging at times on hard, but easy?

(legend123) #199

just a few things more…

1)Make the gameplay smoother and the characters faster.
For example W:ET movement, character not falling when hitting random things, parkouring up a staircase (lol), etc.
Current fat guy speed -> Medium speed
Medium speed-> Faster
Light speed -> Slightly faster but its okay.

2)Get rid of the videos (its been stated before)
but more in detail… get rid of the congratulations youve won screen, get rid of the talking with the characters, the videos of them jumping onto a train, etc. MAKE IT A CHAT ROOM. this is the most silent game I have ever played.

this shoudln’t be default, but decided who run’s the server. Some people do enjoy seeing them for example
