BRINK PC/console port

I think being 10% faster is big enough already and afaik (think they already posted an example) there will be things you can only pull off ONLY manually.

I don’t understand why you think self revive is stupid or something, yet I guess you are fine with normal revives or spawn hosts in ET:QW. Of course it could be imbalanced if done wrong (like no cooldown or stuff like that) but with the limited information we have I don’t see a reason why it can’t be done right. You can always gib your enemies to prevent this from happening, too.

You can (and will probably) join servers normally. Match making is just an addition, and a really sweet one considering you can do matchmaking with a fireteam with up to 8 players.

I don’t think you can say A self revive is like a revive or a spawn host. A spawn host involved time and effort. Someone had to kill that GDF and then gib and make them into a host and then someone went and cliamed that host. In the meantime that host is vulnerable to attack from GDF medics. Similarly a revive involves another player being involved in the revive and they have to put themselves at risk. A self revive is an ability that can be activated at a push of a button and bring a player already killed but not gibbed back life (HP not specified).

I don’t think you can “just gib your enemies” as you put it. We have no idea how long it takes to activate the self revive. If its instant then good luck trying to gib even someone up close let alone at a distance.

Based on gameplay vids, just as long as a normal revive takes - around 3 seconds.

(Humate) #84

Do you really think SD would ever make it instant?
The second thing is, this is a perk that only rewards smart players. Its of little use to a player who constantly dies every 20 seconds, as they give up a slot for something that only helps them every 2 minutes. But for decent players, staying alive for 2 minutes should be pretty easy.
The third thing is, its irrelevant whether someone had to make a spawn host and whether someone had to select it. The end result is the same - you ‘spawn’ near the action, instead of your spawn point.

Regarding some beta, it’s taking ages  Like 3-5s but the animations on this shooters are all just damn sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

(Kinjal) #86

The problem is not in the game mechanics or idea of the game. I run a PC forum, and how can I recommend a game if I’m not soured about PC version myself. For a last year I read a tons of console web sites previews, I saw a 4-6 Expos, where the game was demonstrated. And how does it ended, like this? I’ve not seen any PC stuff at all. I have absolutely no idea how the game will works for Clan wars. BFBC2 was a good looking game and fun to watch and play in beta, but after 4-5 clanwars in release we understand that even a Wolfenstein 2009 was funnier to play vs other team.

(Crytiqal) #87

Jamieson would have been my second guess

(Nail) #88

How can you recommend a game you haven’t played ?

You liked BFBC2 even after playing beta, you liked it, played it and then found out it was crap, how does a word from a dev make any difference ?

(DarkSlayer54) #89

Will the matchmaking system by rank be the only option to console gamers? Or can we turn that feature off?

I can easily recommend Diablo 3 right now. If I look in the past – ETQW (PC game, ET in name, fun videos), Starcraft 2, Assassin creed 2, I think if u know what to Expect, it’s easy to recommend. Brink – lots of new ppl in SD, R. Ham – totally console oriented guy + no PC version showing, no KB/M (ever), Bethesda (I’m sorry I don’t like that company, they trying to destroy Fallout online right know) and etc. In the end –I can recommend Brink to my oldest brother right know, cos he a PS3 player, but it’s a Dark horse for PC players.

I’m not telling BFBC2 is a crap, it’s a good game… for public. My clan still playing in it. Anyway, it’s much better than BO. Words are just words, actually all we know about PC version of Brink, is words, no screenshots , no videos, no cfg files, no real previews, nothing, only words. I want some solid info after all this waiting.

(Whydmer) #91

The thing is, if the game is build specifically FOR the PC, we can be assured it will run fine on a PC.

Oh this made me laugh. If all games that were specifically made for PC’s all ran fine on PC’s i would probably still be in the gaming PC rat race. But I got tired of always needing to tweak my PC so it optimally ran (or even ran the game acceptably) whatever new (and sometimes old) game I wanted to play.

(Nail) #92

no words, screenshots, videos or assurances from the devs will allow you to judge it for comp play until you actually play the game, as evidenced by your experience with BC2

(Kinjal) #93

Yes, there is no way to know for sure, how game will be suited for competitive play, but any sort of info can give a hint about it, I mean: do we really need a special mod for clan wars? Game speed is normal for PC play? And etc. How can I even imagine sumthing, if I only seen a guy playing on controller.

(Herandar) #94

It was stated a long time ago that all revives bring you back with full health, and there has not been any evidence to show that this has been changed at all.

(Jamieson) #95

You clearly misunderstood my point. I was not arguing about the Result I was arguing about the method/process involved. You can’t compare the method. I could quite easily say well If I score against an Under 6’s League team at football then thats a goal just like if I scored against Manchester United, Same result no? still 1-0 same result? The process is completely different, the effort and skill involved is not comparable. Scoring against under 6’s is easy, againts Manchester United, not so.

That was the point, a spawn host requires a player have the skill to kill another player, they then need to take the risk (can be shot while making host) and the time (time neded to make host) to create it. Even then you have to wait for a respawn wave to use the host.

A self revive requires none of these, Push a button, wait 3 seconds, BAM full health, don’t say the waiting is the same like a host because its not, it may take longer to be self reivved than to make a host but without the self revive you would be dead anyway, dead anyway or dead for 3 seconds? = same result, you would still be spending time dead anwyay. Thats the point there is no risk for using a self revive, Dead anyway or a chance at comming back to life and staying alive. Making spawn host = investing time alive which you can do other things with with the risk of dying. Hope you understood that, they are completely different and you would be silly to say otherwise.

(Humate) #96

Again, a self revive requires a player to stay alive for 2 minutes for it to be of any use.
Low skilled players will not be able to reap the benefits of it, because they will die every 20 seconds.
In a 2 minute period that means, 1 in every 6/7 deaths will they be able to use it. Compared to a smart player who will be able to use it EVERY time he dies. That is where the skill comes in.

So the whole process is irrelevant. Making a spawn host doesnt take skill, picking a spawn host doesnt take skill. If you are putting yourself at risk at making a spawnhost, then you dont know when to make them.
AND you dont have to kill anyone, you can just cherry pick incapped players like a scrub.

Making out that the process of making spawnhosts takes skill, is laughable. Hope you understand where I’m coming from

(Nail) #97

you mean on console, or PC ?

:penguin:

(Crytiqal) #98

I guess in a few days I can see for myself

Is there anyone playing on the 3rd of march btw?

(Seyu) #99

I think I’d like playing the game this year itself.

(Crytiqal) #100

What do you mean Seyu?
