Brink needs Splitscreen

(Saberhume) #121

Brink looks great and all but if It doesnt have splitscreen you can count me and my friends out for purchasing this game. 1. I know that its hard to put it in but Me and my friends do not want to haul our xbox’s to each others house we just want to recover our profiles and play. 2. Splitscreen is the greatest form of advertising on the earth, this game feature in fact is the reason why I buy most of my games Halo 3, Call of Duty, Rainbow six vegas, etc… So on behalf of my friends and I we beg you to put it in! thank you.

I don’t really care if it has split screen… actually yeah I do. I have a friend that I hang out with and play games with. I specifically look for co-op games to play with him. I go to co-optimus.com and find couch co-op games. We’ve played through borderlands, rainbow six games, lots of halo campaign (multiple playthroughs), the splinter cell conviction co-op, castle crashers, the list goes on forever ALL THE Gears of war games plus hours of horde mode. This is our male bonding time. Of course I would primarily play Brink online with all my brink buddies… but even if there was a split screen bots only option I think me and this friend would do it.

He has issues with video game addiction so he doesn’t own a game system personally. He just plays at my house… but he’s considering getting an xbox to keep at my house just to play brink online with me in the same room on a 19 inch tv next to my 52 inch TV if he has to. Excessive? Yes. Worth it? YES!

Sorry, Saberhume. Way too late.

(Mickeyfinnigan) #124

I play alot of Halo and COD with my friends
When i saw Brink I thought this game looks amazing and has the potential to be a proper team game. It looks like it has all the best bits of Halo and COD with extras thrown in (SMART etc).
However after learning that there is no splitscreen, i probably wont end up buying brink as i dont intend to sit playing it while my friends just watch. Looks like ill be sticking with Halo until another decent splitscreen multiplayer comes out.

good thing PC players aren’t so narrow minded

(Herandar) #126

After I heard that there is no split screen, I pre-ordered two copies of the game for XBox 360. So ner

(Mickeyfinnigan) #127

I dont know if that was aimed at me being narrow minded, but if so, im not being narrow minded. Its just a fact. There wouldnt be any point in me buying the game because im always with my friends, so we would be playing on another multiplayer game.

Im not by any means slating the game because like i said it looks amazing. But the online experience would be useless to me.

(Herandar) #128

Or you could just grow up and play with people you don’t know personally. I’ve gotten to know quite a bit about a few of my XBox Live friends that I met in-game.

(Mickeyfinnigan) #129

Its got nothing to do with ‘growing up’ and meeting new people online. I meet new people online on halo. The only difference is that my friends get to play too. All im saying is, I dont want to sit playing a game while everyone else sits and watches, because while im making new friends online, i would be alienating the ones in the room with me.

For example, a group of us bought Red Dead Redemption a while ago, to play online. But we always hang out so we never play on it because its boring for everyone else to watch.

(H0RSE) #130

Um did you ever think about maybe getting your friends to buy the game as well?
Just a thought…

I think it is extremely narrow minded to not buy/play the game at all, and experience what it has to offer, because of lack of splitscreen. There are other ways to play it. Are you telling me you never play any game ever, unless it has splitscreen?

(trigg3r) #131

why dont your friends also buy the game? that way all of you can play together

(Maca) #132

You are being a tad harsh on him.
I’m sure he plays games alone, but he was hoping Brink to be one of those games he could play in the same room with his friends, it’s quite fun.
It’s no big deal that he came and voiced his opinion on the appropriate thread, he didn’t appear hostile about it.
Sadly, it’s just not going to change anything.

(Mickeyfinnigan) #133

Well yeah my friends can buy the game too, but then we would need to bring around like 5 TVs and Xboxs to play on it. I do play non splitscreen games but i mostly play xbox when im with my friends.

Cheers man. That exactly what i was doing. Giving my opinion on the fact that i wanted a game, that could be a replacement for halo, that me and my friends sit down and play together. thats all.

(BioSnark) #135

Well, as long as you understand why split/triple/etc. screen might be subject to hardware constraints then fine. Each to their own preferences.

(Mickeyfinnigan) #136

Yeah i understand that the gameplay will be alot better without splitscreen. I just feel a little bit let down by the lack of it because i was REALLY looking forward to hanging out and playing it with my friends

(H0RSE) #137

Don’t you play online at all? If you all buy the game, you can easily play together without lugging TV’s around.

Split-screen is an old, dying mechanic. The majority of games played with others are over an internet connection. You are clinging to a dying format. Technology always advances, even people don’t want it to.

(Mickeyfinnigan) #138

Yeah i play online, but mainly with my mates at their house. I take my gamertag round on a USB.
Also my girlfriends started playing online on Halo with me and im with her pretty much all of the time, so id like to be able to play online with her (without having to send her to someone elses house to use their xbox)

Buy another xbox…

When I lived with my dad, we each had our own PC and would play LAN together.
Now I live with friends/roommates, and we each have our own xbox. It only makes sense.

(Mickeyfinnigan) #140

I do have 2 Xboxes (one at mine and one at my girlfriends) But we’re always together, either at mine or hers so only have access to one of them.

Basically, I could spend all day repeating the same thing, but all im saying is that i would have liked it to be splitscreen so i could hang out with people and play Brink, like me and my friends do with Halo and COD…but that isnt going to happen so im a little dissapointed.

Thats all. The Game looks amazing, I may still buy it for the story/campaign, but i would have liked it to be the new game that i play on when im with my friends.
