My wife’s quote:
“Plants vs. Zombies is for middle-age chicks. If Splash Damage could figure out a way to combine that mechanic with Brink we would be set.” -throbblefoot

Laughed so hard I just had to post it.
Not being dumb. There is a group of about 20 or so ppl who STILL meet up once a week online and play Perfect Dark Zero. My friend is one of them. I don’t do it b/c I suck at that game and those guys pwn me.

I like Brink. I am sure there will be 1000s of people on XBL who’ll play Brink over the course of the next 6-12 months. Once BF3/MW3/GoW3/Skyrim/Uncharted3 are all out, I may move on. Until then, I am playing Brink for my MP fix.

Why are you still here if you hate Brink? Quit yer whining…
You said 16 people is enough. I proved you wrong. And meeting up once a week is fine. But if you want your “fix” you’re not going to play it once a week, thus it will get boring by playing with the same people. And it’s funny you say that thousandS will play brink for a few months, when right now not even a thousand are playing.

Yippie!!! GAMESTOP is offering $23 for trade-in of BRINK…maybe I can go to the movies…by MYSELF!!!

(jordanlund) #165

Weird, I called my local Gamestop yesterday and they were only offering $10 plus an extra $4 if I rolled the dough into a reservation for something like Assassin’s Creed: Revelation.

The game isn’t even worth trading in at this point… that’s sad…

(its al bout security) #166

i take it you arnt playing a console?

(nick1021) #167

I’m playing 360.

(its al bout security) #168

well i know plenty of people that just bought the game on 360 i havent gone a day without playing about 2–40 matches and they are 90% full
If all the guys on that list had up to date, awesome PCs ,would they still be playing those old ass games?
probably not.

Broke PC guys FTL.
1. Actually, they probably would. I myself have a decent box I put together just recently, and I still play Counter-Strike and not Source, 1.6. You might ask “But, Why?” and I’ll simply answer “Because it’s good.”

And I don’t want to leave you with such a relative response, so i’ll explain what I mean: My definition of good is well designed for the type of gameplay I enjoy.

2. Also, You have to understand not everyone has extra cash to shell out a new GFX card for every new AAA title. People have lives, and have to prioritize their money. (School, Rent, Family … Gas, etc.)

Further more, as men (assuming we are the majority demographic for FPS) we are attracted to games just the same way we are attracted to women; Visually. Every marketing agency knows this and it’s exactly how they are going to sell their products to men, whether its video games or sports cars.

Though, the truth is, pretty graphics have no real affect on the “fun factor” of a game. Just because a women is beautiful, doesn’t mean your going to get along very well. (see Divorce rate in America)

Except pvz is meant for casual gamers while brink is not, they’re not related at all, that’s like comparing the amount of people that play bejeweled to the amount of people that play mw2, then saying that one game is better than the other because it has more players.

(nick1021) #172

Ha brink isn’t casual! OMFG XD!!!

(BomBaKlaK) #173

so another duel !

1,310 homefront (one of the worst online multiplayer of the year)
859 BRINK

(suho) #174

What is the alternative? I have been looking for a new objective-based shooter like ET:QW. I can’t go back to QW, already know the maps like the back of my hand. TF2 seems to be different, not bad but different. I wanted a game for the next 3-5 years not just for a couple of month!

(MorsTua) #175

ahahaha bombaklak nr 1
Yep. It’s always been the community increasing the longevity of games. Developers just can’t keep up the way a community can.

That’s why I hate this era of DLC and renewing the franchise every (other)year. The companies don’t know what gamers want more than the gamers do.
Do you really believe this ? I think it works differently. Companies know what gamers want. But they like money more. They prefer “franchises” because then they have control over addons. I think it’s deliberate there’s no Brink SDK. I will be surprised if Brink SDK is ever released. Publishing company executives don’t play games, they see modders as a competition.

You can recreate Q2DM1 for a multiplayer deathmatch FPS, if there’s an editor. It’s a good map, even if awfully overused. But you better like converting the map to a new format every year.

(BomBaKlaK) #177

SD are old modders !
Hope they remember where they come from ! wait and see …

(xTriXxy) #178

161 PC players online!
161 PC players online!

Wrong, that are the number of people actually playing. There could be another 200 who are trying to join a 15/16 server :stuck_out_tongue:

and to be fair, it’s 3:15 pm in europe, what time in US? Veeerry early I assume. And over here it’s over 9000 degrees Celcious
SD are old modders !

No. When they were modders, they were below ten people. Splash Damage is now 67 people, and most of new people come from console industry. Modding and consoles doesn’t mix. Also don’t forget they haven’t released a single video where Brink is played on mouse and keyboard.
